Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

I could well be mistaken, but it seemed like half the episode was different from the book.  The details are fuzzy and I'm not even sure where some of book II ends and III begins.  I know they advanced several timelines (like straight to Qarth and Harrenhal; moved up showing the shadow's birth).

Four episodes in... has anything actually happened

Harrenhall looks grimmer that I imagined. I like it!
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Well, they haven't
stopped looking for Sophia
but we still have the
epic hand-washing scene
to look forward to.

There's a lot of ground to cover in a short period, and HBO necessarily glosses over a lot of the action.  I'm starting to feel a bit led-on but I recognize I'm tough on shows and tend to have more of a "I can take it or leave it" attitude.

My two disappointments were the lack of anything substantial happening in Qarth and not seeing the culmination of the Stannis-Renly meeting.  Not a bad episode, but not the epic one I had hoped for.

Ann is like three episodes behind now, so I haven't seen last night's episode through yet. But I'll get to it shortly.

I had wanted to read as we went along but I could see that they weren't following as closely as they had last year. I'll probably pick it up once the season is over. Probably.

The books are too big for ten episode seasons and yet if HBO did indulge the Book Walkers then I suspect the average viewer would zone out after the eighth course of whatever feast they were portraying . I'm thinking that by the time we get to the end , the two entities will be very much two different dragons of colour .

Hopefully that's a good thing .

It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze
We want to see you lead a normal life

Hopefully!  Would still like to see a little more of some things and a little less of others.  Maybe next season they'll ask me for some help? ;)

Fingers crossed !

I loved how Harrenhall doesn't rise up out of the map .
It just sits there , a broken lump .
;)
Quarth !
Xaro !
Roose Bolton !
Shadow baby !

I enjoyed it . Am preparing for a second go .

But I'm bought and paid for regarding this series .

;)

( although I prefer S1 Mountain )

Was the medic girl from Doctors Without Borders from the book?

New guy is too skinny. They should have padded him up a bit or something. Just to make his shoulders broader. He looks more like I imagines Duncan The Tall would look rather than The Mountain.
