Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze
We want to see you lead a normal life

I know this is :deadhorse: but...

I see so many stupid sequels and movies that get made, albeit many are direct to dvd, but still it frustrates me that Firefly/Serenity got cut short. Many a tv show has been revived. Sanctuary, a show that started airing on the Internet is now going to be aired on SciFi in October. (thanks to Digby suggesting it last year! I really enjoyed it.)

I'm pissed that the time seems to have come and gone because everybody's doing other things.

I know a lot of it has to do with money and timing. I'd like to believe if Firefly had come around in 2003 or 2004, we'd be watching it on SciFi today.

But I'm beginning to wonder about Joss's reputation. While Whedon is viewed as "creative, entertaining and original" to his fans and critics, somehow he doesn't land the projects that are tantamount to his popularity and creativity. It's like he's on some gao se list.

I know we've discussed this ad nauseam, but this is just something that has been forefront for me lately. A Bloodrayne sequel was greenlit and made for Pete's sake.

I plan to get the full comic of Better Days and enjoy it to my heart's content. I should probably make a book of fanfic just so I have something Firefly-related to read.

Until Joss can make a movie that makes money, he's going to be passed over. He's viewed as a TV guy who writes comics on the side.

Bloodrayne 2 got greenlit because they have no talent to speak of, cheap sets, cheap costumes, cheap everything. And it is going STV. Not that I wouldn't mind a STV Firefly movie.
