Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

Let me just catch my breath here for a moment...

"Is this how time normally passes? Really slowly, in the right order?"

This sums up the game in a single shot.

Alabama is a beast. I think A&M may be in the mix next year.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

One odssmaker's picks on the 2013 season:

Alabama                            5/1

Oregon                             8/1

Ohio State                     17/2

LSU                              12/1

Texas A&M                   12/1

Florida                          14/1

LSU & TAMU tied for fourth. I hope that Bama can figure out a way to stop JFF; right now I think TAMU is Bama's biggest roadblock.

On another note, I was really pleased to hear the talking heads give props to Doug Nussmeier for his offense during the game last night. In fact, this was Alabama's most prolific offense ever.

- 542 points scored on the year
- AJ McCarron 211-314 2,933 yards 30 TD 3 INT
- Eddie Lacy 1,322 yards 6.5 YPC 17 TD
- T.J. Yeldon 1,108 yards 6.3 YPC 12 TD
- Amari Cooper 59 receptions 1,000 yards 11 TD

I wish UW had stepped up and paid Doug Nussmeier so he would have stayed. The UW defense made a great improvement over the year before, but the offense was not as good.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

After the TAMU loss, the pinheads on the message boards were calling for Coach Nussmeier to be fired. Now, they are grudgingly giving him some respect.

There were two loooong passes that McCarron threw that were maybe 18 inches away from TD receptions. I really hope that AJ comes back for another year. I don't think he is really ready for the NFL right now. Another year under Coach Nussmeier will really help his stock, should he go pro.

BTW, Yeldon and Cooper are both true Freshmen, both with 1000 yard or greater seasons.

After the success of the three big rookie QB's in the NFL this year, I think a lot of college QB's may get the impressing that they can make it in the NFL right now, but it will probably bite them in the ass if they come out early. This year is an aberration as far as rookie QB success goes. I have a feeling a lot of young QB's will be heartbroken after the final cuts in the NFL preseason next year.

Saban tells his Juniors to go pro if he thinks they have a good shot in the pros. He has enough contacts to have a pretty good idea where they could wind up. I'd hope that AJ looks at Greg McElroy holding a clipboard for the Jets instead of thinking he can be in the same class of RG3 and Luck and Wilson.

You saw the BCS Championship Game, right? Well, at least the parts that mattered before turning to something more interesting, most notably Alabama rolling to a huge lead over Notre Dame and ESPN showing A.J. McCarron's girlfriend.

So you know that Alabama is the best team in the nation. Nobody in their right mind would pick Notre Dame ahead of Alabama after witnessing the carnage that was 42-14 on Monday night.

Oh, but the BCS has a computer that still prefers the Irish. So let the BCS bashing continue.

The Colley Matrix, one of the six computer systems used by the BCS, has Notre Dame ranked No. 1 and the Crimson Tide No. 2. Notre Dame's final ranking was 0.973997 to Alabama's 0.961139. Notre Dame had an edge in strength of schedule. Alabama won more games against top 25 teams in the rankings. Margin of victory is not part of the calculations. No matter how the computer spit out that reading, it's worth mentioning again: An entity the BCS uses still prefers Notre Dame to Alabama.

They're not going to make Alabama give back the trophy over it or anything, and it's just one of the many rankings the BCS uses to determine who plays in the final game (not who is awarded the championship) but it just shows once again that there are flaws in the process.

ESPN's Brad Edwards, who has become a foremost BCS formula expert, offered this on Twitter after pointing out the Colley Matrix's interesting final output:

We're all sure to find something new to rail about when the playoff system is implemented for the 2014-15 season. But at least we can be sure that there won't be such an egregious issue like a team winning 42-14 in the final game, but a component of the system picking the losing team No. 1 anyway ... right?
