Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

Turncloak!

Word is that Coach Nussmeier has accepted the offer to be Alabama's new OC and QB coach within the last hour.

UW just stole a coach from Cal. I guess he's a great recruiter as well as good coach. UW also lost Nick Montana, looks like he's going to a JC.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

TinkTanker

Brock Huard will be on the local jock sniffer show in the AM telling tales on Doug Nussmeier.

I like Brock. He's got a local sports radio show (Brock and Salk) and it's funny as hell.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

What's the deal ( on Fark ) regarding LSU's coach pissing off his team ?

Les Miles's nickname is The Mad Hatter, because he A) always wears that cap because he's going bald and B) is batshiat crazy with his play calling. He had almost got the fans to buy into his antics (crazy like a fox, sorta) but after getting spanked, they have turned against him. I've all kinds of rumors about what happened in the locker room, both pre- and post-game. The rumors in TFA were mild compared to what I've heard. I've heard that blows were exchanged between players, players and coaches. Off to read the Fark thread.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Alabama placed 56 student-athletes on the 2011 Fall Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll, the second highest total in the conference, SEC Commissioner Mike Slive announced Wednesday.

The Crimson Tide's total included a league-best 38 football players. Overall, South Carolina led the way with 66 honorees followed by Alabama and then Georgia with 51.

The 38 members of Alabama's 2011 National Championship football team that earned a place on the honor roll was eight more than the next closest school and included a dozen starters. Among those earning the academic accolade were Trent Richardson, Mark Barron, Barrett Jones, Marquis Maze, Jeremy Shelley, Brad Smelley and Jesse Williams.

The Alabama soccer team placed 14 on the SEC Academic Honor Roll, including eight starters from the squad that advanced to the NCAA Championships last November, including senior All-SEC goalkeeper Justine Bernier. The Tide volleyball team had four players earn a place on the team, including All-SEC junior Kayla Fitterer.

To earn a place on the honor roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.0 or better grade point average for either the preceding academic year or their career and be a sophomore or better in academic standing. The Fall SEC Academic Honor Roll is based on the 2011 spring, summer and fall terms. Any student-athlete who participates in an SEC championship sport or a student-athlete who participates in a sport listed on his/her institution's NCAA Sports Sponsorship Form is eligible for nomination to the Academic Honor Roll.

The conference will release a winter and spring honor roll in the months to come and recognizes its first-year student-athletes based on grades from the fall and spring semester with an honor roll that is released in June.
