Ack, I forgot to post in a Prince thread.

I was reading about Chyna's death and saw "Prince Dead at 57" in the sidebar. I was shocked at first and then just bummed out. His music has always been in my life, whether it was his own songs or songs he wrote for others.

There's rumors that either he was addicted to painkillers (from hip pain) or he's been addicted this whole time to opioids because he needed them for stagefright [this was from an old drug dealer, which, do you believe him or not...?!].

Supposedly on the emergency plane stop about two weeks before he died, he got an anti-overdose shot (for the Percocet / unconsciousness), which, from what I read when medical experts explained it, is dangerous if not monitored by a doctor and hospital stay. Could he not have slowed down and got in-home care? I digress... At any rate, it's even more dangerous when you take more pills after the fact. The shot works to expel the drug and introducing more of the drug back into the body can cause respiratory issues, if it hasn't been causing multiple issues already.

Whether or not he was getting ready for rehab, it was another one of those deaths where the person fucked themselves up. Maybe Prince was in too much pain and addicted. Ultimately the person makes the final decision but the medical and pharmaceutical communities are just not getting it and are a) prescribing WAY too much medication or b) not putting their foot down or c) doing it for the cash (we have a winner, people).

I just want to know when Prince got *any* sleep because the guy would play concerts and then do midnight jams. He was probably a Gemini vampire. Well at any rate I'll probably be listening to Prince for a while...
