Title: Jessi on GLEE!!
Post by: Saxon on January 05, 2013, 04:03:27 PM
Jessi's episode airs Jan. 24th on Fox. Our local paper did a big write up on her and the role. Of course, they got a lot of stuff wrong. Quoted us on things we didn't say...but they used almost all of the pix I sent him, and got a lot of stuff right. One thing they got wrong was when I said the acting bug bit her early on...not true, she did fall into parts as a kid. Never would audition, but the directors would just create roles for her! But she found a LiveJournal post she made when she was going to PCPA, working with professionals on plays...and I think this was her turning point! From July '07. Very cool:

"Yeesh, where to start...

I got my Poppler (gallbladder) taken out over a week ago. As a result I got replaced on my deck crew job at PCPA. I'll be returning tomorrow to a kinda new, kinda what I was doing job of working in the scene shop and/or prop shop.

It's weird, I never really wanted anything more than that, but now that I've been taken out of the production, night of, lights and audience, I really miss it. I love the pre-play construction aspect, but I think I love the play part even more.

I'm thinking more and more about taking improv classes, as well as comedy/sitcom writing. The thing is, I love all aspects of "putting on a show". I know I need to try my hand in each one to find what I truly love above all.

In other news, I'm thinking of piercing my belly button. I figure if there's already gonna be a scar on it a ring won't be that bad might even hide the scar a bit. Speaking of hiding the scar, I asked mom to get me some'a that cream stuff that helps scar heal faster and fade. It kinda bothers me though, scars show life and experience. Wouldn't removing or causing them to fade take away from why they're there? They're reminders of where you were and encouragement to know that you can move on. I guess this is just that whole beauty from pain, and beauty in imperfection school of thought. This prolly is too deep of thought for just four small scars. I guess fading is better than not having them, they don't have to be predominate but still a small part of me. A subtle reminder of nearly a decade of unknown pain. Battle scars, strength marks, beauty marks.

I better get ready to head out, I got about a 3 hour drive ahead'a me."

The not exactly 100% right article in our local paper:

Photo of Tom w/ the paper w/ all the pix. I grabbed a few copies of the paper as soon as the guy delivered them to the hospital! I spent all my pre-op time talking about my kid!  :squee:

He doesn't follow either of us on Twitter, so I'm not sure he knows. I only had the old email for him, and his daughter said he doesn't use it anymore.

The promo for the return of Glee on the 24th is airing!! And yes, Jessi is onscreen for TWO whole seconds!! lol One of her friends got an awesome screen cap, I took a pic of my tv with her on it.

She's insisting I not look for spoilers, because stuff has already been leaked and is online. She got mail today from "Glee", and when I called to tell her, she said it was probably her new contract...hmmmm...why does she have/need a new contract? She let me open the letter, it was indeed the same form that she'd gotten before, but this time it had a change in one section noting that she was going to listed in the credits, possibly as 'co-star'!! It had the disclaimer that it would be 'at the producer's discretion', but all the options listed had her getting onscreen credit of some kind. She still doesn't have a 'character name', and will only go by the title on her contract of 'Apple #10'.

I know some of you have seen the screen grabs, but I wanted to post it here.

Sounds like they may be keeping her around for awhile. :)

The original email her manager got (and forwarded to her to read) said,

"I  don't know about future episodes yet...but as soon as I get info, I will let  you know.  Please keep my posted on her schedule BEFORE you book her on  anything...because as glee goes, she could be in 1 or 2 more episodes, or in  every episode...we just don't know anything yet...please email me the details  once she is closed as wardrobe wants to shop for her today."

BUT, the group she's with play a major part in the on-going new story line. She's banking on her unique look. She's also hoping her friend/former play director and soon to be landlord, works some magic...cuz he hinted at 'you will get some lines', then said something about 'if a friend of yours goes to the Les Mis opening night party and just happens to mention that he's friends with the mohawk girl to his friend, Ryan Murphy...you will get some lines'.  :squee:

Just hope that happens!

Chris Buchanan told us, it's honestly not WHAT you know in Hollywood, but WHO you know. I was shocked that they didn't ask her if she could dance, but only had her sing a bit from two songs, one from Broadway (she sang one from RENT), and a pop song (I think she sang a Pink song)...then they just talked to her about her look and just visited with her!!

Keep in mind, on her profile, she does NOT have 'singer' clicked on the form that suggests people for roles...she does not have 'dancer'! Her friend just submitted her on her personality and looks! I'm glad Jessi & I weren't playing 'the casting game'...I doubt we would have submitted her. It said "MUST BE MAJOR SINGER!"

wow.

God is good!!!

Both of still being a bit under the weather (again), we sat through 7 episodes (six in a row this evening) of last year's shows in an attempt to catch up. We still have three from last year before we can start on this year's, but we are giving it a good shot.

When she got the audition I think I started watching eps to catch up, but I never bothered with last season. I was watching it in Season 1 and most of 2.

I have a love/hate relationship with Glee. I really liked it to start with, but it grates on you. A little goes a looooong way.

I wonder how all the rights stuff works when what Glee produced resembles an arrangement of a song performed by someone who was not the original artist? Does Anthony "Sir Mix-A-Lot" Ray and/or the label who produced his song own the rights or does Jonathan Coulton and/or the label who produced his version of Sir Mix-A-Lot's song own the rights? Fox TV surely had permission to use the song and I would not doubt they get permission or pay for the right to use every song on the show, but does that give them the right to copy any arrangement that's been done for that song?

Thanks everyone for watching. She's on Cloud 9. She started a 'fan' Facebook page (per her managers instruction), and is putting up pix she took during the rehearsal day and the filming day. Oh, and the screening yesterday afternoon. Maybe I'm just a silly mom, but the lead guy, "Adam", who Jessi said is straight, British and DREAMY, sure does like to hug my baby!! hehe. *at least in the two pix she posted.

I have a feeling, from what I've been reading, that Fox is within their legal rights. I have a feeling that Jonathan Coulton didn't buy/secure the rights in a way that keeps others from using his version. All this song stealing talk was making it hard for me to share Jessi's achievement, cuz it appears that Mr. Coulton has a bit of a Browncoat following. He might not be as upset as his fans are, since, in reading all the comments on the video of the "Apple's" performance, the majority of people didn't know that Fox had not created that arrangement. So, as Fox said, it is giving him more exposure. If he's owed money, I hope he gets his due. But it sounds like he didn't secure HIS rights to the song in the way he worked it.

Fox is making a kajillion (give or take) off this show and they shouldn't be total dicks and throw some cash to the guy. I was prepared to say the songs were probably somewhat similar... until I heard the clips. Fox straight up stole this guy's schtick, whether he secured the rights or not. Fox can buy a lot of good will or buy a lot of ill. Their choice.

That having been said, I know you were about to bust with pride. I'll admit I never thought the Mohawk was anything remotely attractive but after seeing her in motion, it works. Glad she got some exposure (well-deserved) and hope it continues. I was more than glad to post the pics and I hope all enjoy them.

Thanks Tink, I'd never heard of this guy, and we all know about how the 'Alliance' can treat the little guy. Poor 11th Hour got in their sights. It just bothered me that a lot of people are being mean to the 'Apples' in their rants. These young people didn't steal the guy's stuff. Fox did. And if Fox's purple belly actions get people mad at my kid, it's on!! :veryangry:

How sad is it that I have this ember of anger toward Fox to this day, traumatized me I guess.

I am not a fan of Glee. I stopped watching after I went to a panel at ComicCon and Ryan Murphy was talking all snooty and was very obviously pushing his gay agenda. Instead of honestly trying to show kids being kids, with a wide range of personalities, he turned them all into sluts and even turned the slut gay. The little airhead blonde should be riddled with the pox by now.

That said, I am thrilled that Jessi is having fun, entertaining, and making money. If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. I hope that everyone who watched and loved the newbies will drop a note to Fox and let 'em know. And if them making a show of some kind of compensation to this songster will take the negativity away from these innocent actors, then they should get on it!  :soapbox:

I bet the work [the dancing and singing] is fun though.  :D

While I am very happy that Jessi is getting some primetime exposure/work experience, I do not like Glee anymore. I think I liked the singing aspect the best and was really wowed by Lea Michele's voice.

Glee tries to be honest but it's so cruel. Maybe that does expose how crappy high school can be, but you just get tired of the derogatory comments ~ I recall one the Brittany character said about epilepsy ["Hairography--it works best when you pretend like you're having a seizure. So you just move your head around like you're spazzy and stuff." She then slung her head/hair around as she shook and danced. She finished by saying, "It's like cool epilepsy."] that was atrocious. Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) is just as mean as Tony Soprano's mother. Although I did appreciate the "Sue and her sister" storyline, she's just not funny. Also, when you find out a creator is a prima donna and an Chuckhole, the vapidness of Glee doesn't seem all that interesting.

When Jessi had her photos done, they did them all outside/around her apartment, in the freezing cold! I don't know exactly where they found those backgrounds. The photographer took 1106 pix!!

I totally agree about the stories and situations on Glee. They have the kids saying extremely mean and hurtful things even to their friends. I don't get it. It's not like they are saying the stuff in jest either. They also treat the rampant sexual escapades as normal for High School students. Jessi was outraged that the ep she was in had the character Puck having sex with one of the underage new girls on the show, after he'd had an affair with the teacher. This is all supposed to be a REAL snapshot of High School life in middle America? Where is this town? So I can steer clear!

Jessi needs work, but I dread what they might involve her in. Having kids do things that are immoral or dangerous should be done as a cautionary tale, but Glee doesn't show anything more than a 'broken heart'. Even the first season that dealt with unplanned pregnancy didn't really convey the harsher side of things. It romanticized it, used it as a plot device for all kinds of soap opera situations.
I didn't watch all of the episode last week, but the stuff that happened before Jessi's part was odd...the gay kid having a crush on the straight kid, the girl having a crush on the gay kid? The only good thing about them bringing in a new 'love interest' for Kurt is more work for Jessi! She still hasn't gotten any info on when that might be. I know Oliver (Adam) has already done a couple more episodes. I guess they are just going to jump right into them getting together.

No it isn't
It's a show filled with caricatures
I've seen one episode and that's pretty clear

Jessi needs work, but I dread what they might involve her in.

It's called "acting" for a reason
;)

Having kids do things that are immoral or dangerous should be done as a cautionary tale, but Glee doesn't show anything more than a 'broken heart'.

Actually , kids doing stupid/risky things is 100% normal and often consequence free

Not trying to bust your chops or anything but I suspect you're taking it a little too seriously

Sorry
