Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

R.I.P.

It seems like a lot more well known people have died this year compared to recent years.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

I will probably cry later. He is in my Top 5 favorite/best male singers (Freddie Mercury is #1).

George Michael - Praying For Time (MTV Unplugged 1996)

Praying for Time

Do you think we have time?
Do you think we have time?

These are the days of the open hand
They will not be the last
Look around now
These are the days of the beggars and the choosers

This is the year of the hungry man
Whose place is in the past
Hand in hand with ignorance
And legitimate excuses

The rich declare themselves poor
And most of us are not sure
If we have too much
But we'll taking our chance to say
I sang twenty years and a day
But nothing changed
The human race found some other guy
And walked into the flame

And it's hard to love, there's so much to hate
Hanging on to hope
When there is no hope to speak of
And the wounded skies above say it's much too late
Well maybe we should all be praying for time

Doo oh oh
Do you think we have time?
Do you
Do you think we have time?

These are the days of the empty hand
Oh, you hold on to what you can
And charity, charity is a coat you wear twice a year

This is the year of the guilty man
Your television takes a stand
And you find that what was over there is over here

So you scream from behind your door
Say what's mine is mine and not yours
I may have too much but I'll take my chances
I sang twenty years and a day
'Cause nothing changed
The human race found some other guy
And walked into the flames

It's hard to love, Jesus, there's so much to hate
Hanging on to hope, there is no hope to speak of
And the wounded skies above say it's much too late
Then maybe we should all be praying for time

Doo doo doo
Do you think we have time?
Do you
Do you think we have time?
Lord, give us time

Not only a lot have died but they are dying at a very young age.

Pearl@32

Yeah, it's pretty creepy. Still, for as many who are young, there are plenty living long lives. Doris Day is still alive and Kirk Douglas just turned 100. On some level, some singers and actors just don't grow old, they die young. Keith Richards and Mick Jagger will probably live to 90 though!!

Oh, Jagger and Richards are already dead. They are the original zombies.  :)

"The walking dead" are supposed to tour next year in France. Go figure, eh?

I listened to George Michael and Wham! all day today. "Wake Me Up" was never a major favorite of mine, but "Careless Whisper," "Freedom," and half of the Music from the Edge of Heaven album were my faves. I started jamming to "Freedom 90" this morning and it just went from there. I can usually listen to "Father Figure" at any time, and today was no exception. The song is just such a great pop song. Also, "A Different Corner" (whoa). It was a lot of fun.

George's MTV Unplugged performance in 1996 is a TOTAL GEM. He usually improvised on his recordings in concert and they were almost always even better than the original. If you search on YouTube for it, select single performances. There's a full version out there that the sound is all messed up.

I seem to have misplaced my George Michael compilation CD set, but I have a bad habit of not returning my CDs back to the shelves.

I saw a couple terrible photos online like he had gained a lot of weight but I don't know if they were real or fake. His lungs could have been compromised after his almost fatal bout of pneumonia in 2011, which is why he didn't do much performing. sigh
