Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

Got a copy of The Shepherd's Tale sitting on my desk. Haven't read it yet. It's a little dusty.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

And I ought to really watch "Outlaw Star" sometime ...

( I thought it was "Cowboy Beebop" for some reason )

Yeah, people used to claim it was Cowboy Beebop.  I guess now the hot thing is Outlaw Star.
Some of those comparisons are grasping for straws, IMO.

The "both series' have a childlike engineer" is spurious at best .

Or is Kaylee banging Bester in the engine room the same as Hopscotch ?

( I will concede the naked chick in a box though )

Actually the preponderance of similarities is too coincidental for me.  I think Joss did get his ideas from
this.

Eric

Clearly we need to figure out if he stole it from Cowboy Beebop before he stole it from Outlaw Star;)

I thought they were one and the same.  Considering how big of a comic book fan Joss is it is a little hard for
me to believe he wasn't aware of this considering the similarities.

Hmmm, it appears Cowboy Bebop may have also ripped off Outlaw Star so Joss was in good company or
not.
