Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

I still wish they would have cast Patchface.

I'm way comfortable with melding the two .
It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze
We want to see you lead a normal life

My favorite exchange from the latest episode.
----------

Jamie: There it is. That's the look. I've seen it for 17 years on face after face. You all despise me. Kingslayer. Oath breaker. Man without honor. You've heard of wildfire?

Brienne: Of course.

Jamie: The mad king was obsessed with it. He loved to watch people burn--the way their skin blackened, blistered, melted off their bones. He burned lords he didn't like; he burned Hands that disobeyed him; he burned anyone that was against him. Before long, half the country was against him. Aerys saw traitors everywhere, so he had his pyromancer place caches of wildfire all over the city: beneath the Sept of Baelor, the slums of flea bottom, under houses, stables, taverns, even beneath the Red Keep itself. Finally, the day of reckoning came.

Robert Baratheon marched upon the capitol after his victory at the Trident. But my father arrived first with the whole Lannister army at his back, promising to defend the city against the rebels. I knew my father better than that. He's never been one to pick the losing side. I told the mad king as much. I urged him to surrender peacefully. But the king didn't listen to me, didn't listen to Varys, who tried to warn him. But he did listen to Grandmaester Pycell, that grey sunken cunt. "You can trust the Lannisters," he said. "The Lannisters have always been true friends of the crown." So, we opened the gates and my father sacked the city.

Once again I came to the king begging him to surrender. He told me to bring him my father's head. Then he turned to his pyromancer, "Burn them all," he said. "Burn them in their homes, burn them in their beds." Tell me, if your precious Renly commanded you to kill your own father and stand by while thousands of men women and children were burned alive, would you have done it? Would you have kept your oath then?

First, I killed the pyromancer, and then when the king turned to flee I drove my sword into his back. "Burn them all," he kept saying. "Burn them all." I don't think he expected to die. He meant to burn with the rest of us and rise again reborn as a dragon and turn his enemies to ash. I slit his throat to make sure that didn't happen. That's where Ned Stark found me.

Brienne: If this is true, why didn't you tell anyone? Why didn't you tell Lord Stark?

Jamie: Stark. You think the honorable Ned Stark wanted to hear my side? He judged me guilty the moment he set eyes on me. By what right does the wolf judge the lion? By what right?

Jamies fall and Brienn catches him.

Brienne: Help! The Kingslayer!

Jamie: Jaime. My name is Jaime.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Aside from the, sometimes, very short snips of the various character arcs, I am loving this season quite a bit. It's the best so far IMO.

So what's the deal with Stannis the Mannis's daughter and half her face being burned and being locked up and being all cheerful and stuff? Spoiler whore, so I'm asking.
"Is this how time normally passes? Really slowly, in the right order?"

Spooky

It's a disease called Greyscale.

QuoteGreyscale is a disease that can leave flesh stiff and dead and the skin cracked and flaking, mottled black and grey and stone-like to the touch. The tongue and lips turn to stone.[1] It generally affects children especially in cold damp climates. The victims are disfigured but could not be touched by the rarer mortal form of the affliction or the grey plague. The wildlings consider people who survive Greyscale unclean.

ETA: I think they keep her hidden from view, because they don't want people to know about the disease.

In the book she has a companion named Patchface. He's the Dragonstone fool/jester. The rhyme/song that Shireen signs over the closing credits are snippits of rhymes that Patchface would say throughout the books. I don't think he will be in the show.

I love how they've mashed Shireen and Patchface together .
Creepier and yet heartbreaking at the same time .
I'm looking forward to more of her and her Onion Knight .
