I have a love/hate relationship with technology for this reason.  I love getting new tech or building a computer, but hate when it goes south.

I'm not as tech savvy as I should be .
I know that .

But I think it's silly that I have to upgrade a dvd player .
I can only imagine what it's like for older people - probably why they still cling to their VHS tapes .

I was thinking that same thing.  Why do they force an upgrade?

I glanced at some patch notes which said one of the patches (maybe this one?) made the bluray work better -- which is okay, but that they won't let you even play a disc is silly.
OTOH, a lot of this "BD Live" crud (also part of the update I saw) just seems to mostly be a way for them to get live-streamed ads for the latest movies onto your disc menu. If I were a betting man, I'd say that's why it's forced.

GoT is fanbois bait and if there's one thing fanbois do it's collect their favourite genre swag .

And even though they also lead the piracy brigade I'd say they also keep the financial aspect very profitable .
