News:

Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

Game of Thrones spoiler
http://blastr.com/2011/06/game-of-thrones-spoiler.php

If you've haven't seen Game of Thrones, stop. Don't come any closer. We have spoilers, and we're not afraid to use them. But for those who have seen Game of Thrones and are desperate for news, read on.

You've been warned ...

As you know, Lord Eddard "Ned" Stark (Sean Bean) died in the last episode, "Baelor." Even though his daughter Sansa convincingly pleaded for his life and Queen Cersei seemed willing enough to strip him of his title and let him "take the black" as soldier on The Wall, it was not to be. King Joffrey suddenly proclaimed, "They have the soft hearts of women," and Ned's head rolled.

But according to TV Guide, this isn't the last we've seen of Lord Stark. Ned will make an appearance in the finale.

TV Guide writes, "n the finale, two of his children will see him in a way you'd probably expect of television; a third, though, will have a shocking run-in with dear old Dad."

TV Guide's description of the last episode of season one, "Fire and Blood," says that young Bran and younger Rickon Stark will "have a shared vision," which suggests that Ned will say his fatherly farewells as a ghost.

As for the third who will have a run-in, out of his three children, Bran, Arya or Sansa, it seems that Sansa is the one who is most in need of a good shock.

We're looking forward to seeing Ned's last hurrah ... just as long as he doesn't come back as a white walker.
I've read the spoiler and, Digby, is this in line with the books?
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Yes then no .

In the books there are dream sequences that have been pretty much downplayed in the series .
Mostly from Bran . If you remember the three eyed crow leading Bran into the Stark family tomb , that was forshadowing . It'll increase next season as Bran grapples with his visions . Rickon , in the books , shares some of Bran's visions .
I'm not sure what Sansa will experience though . I'd need to check but I suspect it'll be an alteration from the novels

It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze
We want to see you lead a normal life

So how much of R.R. Martin's writings does this first season cover?

Spooky's right .

S2 will cover "A Clash of Kings" ( there is speculation that it will only be half the book which sounds dangerous as at that rate it'll take ten years to finish )
