Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

I saw about 2 minutes...ok maybe it was 30 seconds and felt like 2 minutes then I changed the channel.

It looked like a guy show. Should I give it a try or do you think its probably not my cup of tea.

Yeah, Pearl said the same thing.  Then she watched a couple of episodes and was hooked.

Definitely not a G-rated show, though. ;)

Being that I adore the books ( despite their insistence to upset me )  the HBO treatment is as good as one could hope for .
( unless one hopes for a tv series to have blockbuster movie budgets )

The characters are excellent .
( especially the child actors , which is a big thing for this song . They are the core for series . Children in a medieval world and all the horrible messiness that entails )
Profanity and nudity and violence are at HBO standards .
Which are excellent .
It's for adults and it delivers .

Should I try the books too? or first?

I might try to see if I can find it somewhere to catch up before ComicCon.

I am reading book one right now, after watching season one, and I don't think watching season one first has ruined reading the book. The book obviously delves more into the details, the characters and who they are, what they are thinking and such. While I know the major plot points, it has still been enjoyable reading Mr. Martin's words and seeing the world he created unfold before me at a slower pace than the TV series revealed it.

The biggest difference between the TV series and books seems to be character appearance and age. A lot of the younger (teens and tween) characters are in fact much younger in the book than they are portrayed on TV, but all in all I am loving the first book very much.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

From what Digby has said, yes.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

TinkTanker

All four books are on the NYT top 35 best sellers list for the week of 7/10/2011.
