Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

I just can't seem to get interested in any of them this year. I have a heart for the 'roughneck', cuz my grandpa was one....but I just can't sit through some of them...maybe after they weed out a few I'll start watching.

I'm watching, but sometimes I don't pay attention!

I'm still trying to figure out what shows I'm missing cuz at least two nights a week there are shows on 2-3 different nets that I like, and I'm trying to take turns watching one or the other then catching up later on what I missed. *ugh*

I missed ER last night because I wanted to get to bed at a decent hour. I figured I can watch on demand.

(Did I get to sleep on thyme? NO!) ;)

I remember like 5 years ago when I watched 11 shows...I think I wrote down days and times!

How sad that I used to have a calendar of 'my shows'....so I wouldn't miss anything. Back then though, you made a choice to watch ONE, then try to remember to catch anything opposite 'in rerun'.

I didn't even watch all of the show last night, but caught up on the Internet tonight.

I don't know that anyone does ANYTHING original anymore.

Adam performed an Indian-influenced version of "Ring of Fire" last night, and it wasn't bad. It was ~weird~ but it kinda worked for him.

Problem is Dilana, a contestant on Rockstar: Supernova, performed the song with that same Indian influence 3 years ago.

I think the song arrangement was the same; his vocals were much more melodic than hers, which were low-key and subdued.

This has been going on for seasons now, and the lackluster is just getting to me. David Cook performed more than one song by taking a cue from other cover versions ("Billie Jean" by Chris Cornell and "Daytripper" by Whitesnake, complete with talk box). It was a let-down last year to find out at least half of the contestants had recorded albums.

But what are the Idols doing BUT singing covers every week?

In the history of cover songs, some are fantastic and surpass the original, but others fall flat and sound horrible. I guess it's good that singers like David and Adam have decent voices, and sometimes change up their vocals to suit their styles.

I don't know why I'm getting all bent out of shape when all artists do covers -- I mean, I have more than 20 Idol performances on my iPod and probably over a hundred when it's all said and done.

I think mostly I've had enough of Idol contestants doing rip-off performances and the judges not knowing they ARE rip-offs -- or what's most, not caring. Idol is just one big recording contract audition to them.

Then don't say "It was original" or "It was unique."

It just makes me wonder: does anybody do anything original anymore, in anything?

None of them has even caught my attention this season...when does "So you think you can dance" start?

Pearl@32

My Idol buddy said the same thing.

SYTYCD auditions are still ongoing this month in Denver, Memphis and Seattle. Vegas on or around April 1. When it's airing, I have no idea.

Last year was sooooooooooooooo good! the year before Gingi was home, and it was our one 'girlie' addiction, with all three of us loving it. We even drove down and watched one of the tapings. She would have loved last year, but was working and didn't even have a tv. It will be fun if she's still home when this season airs, hope they have some good peeps we can love.
