Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

SHIELD down another 7%. NCIS up 7%.

So while SHIELD is still dropping, it isn't dropping as much. Still, down from 4.7 to 2.6 and that can't be good.

I'm getting the feeling that Joss's heart is not in this one.

I'm doubt anyone's heart is in this one.

Just a WAG, but I don't think Joss really has his hands on this one that much. I think his brother and SIL are far more involved in the day to day operations than he is. I think his name is on the show and not a whole lot more.

I think you're right. It doesn't have the fun humor and wit to it. They put his name up
there to draw an audience and then left it. It's not going to work unless something happens.

It sure doesn't grab my attention. I keep it on while I surf the net, but that's about it. Sad. I did perk up some when the gal hinted at some stuff to do with Coulson. Other than that mystery, I'm just not intrigued. Since I wasn't along for the Buffy and Angel runs, I can't say much for the 'lack of Joss'...but I can say it doesn't ring with his 'voice' that I found in Firefly, Dr. Horrible, or Avengers. So, yeah. Sad.

The ratings were revised upward to a 3.4% drop, so it was not as bad as feared initially.

Before she was Chloe Bennett, she was Chloe Wang, Chinese Pop Star.

And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

The reason AoS is on ABC is because of the superhero cash cow ~ we all know that. What Reddit commenters reminded me was that sometimes what turn out to be good Sci-Fi shows later had missteps in the beginning  (Next Generation, SGU for examples). Not every show can be the freak of nature that Firefly, Farscape, Heroes Season 1, Lost Season 1 or Fringe Season 1 were. One commenter said AoS is like a classic 80s adventure show like The A-Team, MacGyver, Magnum P.I., or Knight Rider that had "pulp" but not necessarily the best acting or writing. The sad thing is that writing matters in this day and age. Joss surrounded himself with excellent writing teams on all his shows. There was substance and relevance with a teenagel vampire slayer and a vampire who was trying to help others. It's just lacking here. Yeah he is not in control because he has to make as great a movie or better than Avengers, the 3rd high-grossing film ever. Hope TPTB at AoS get it together.

End the hyphens...we are all human beings who live in America.

That's exactly what this show feels like, The A-Team.

The sad thing is that writing matters in this day and age.

Not everything can be Breaking Bad or The Wire, but you get spoiled with good writing. And good acting. And this has neither. Maybe it will get it in time, but as you said, right now it is lacking.

Yeah he is not in control because he has to make as great a movie or better than Avengers, the 3rd high-grossing film ever.

At most, Joss is giving them a list of what is and is not okay to do. His input at this point is clearly minimal, he has bigger fish to fry. The biggest laugh over the last couple of shows was telling Skye and the adorkables to pee in a water bottle. Not your typical Joss witty repartee.
