Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze

I'd assume so, but I can't quote any specific laws. The problem is that a DDOS (distributed denial-of-service) attack is usually launched after the person responsible is able to infect a bunch of innocent people's computers with malware/bots that end up flooding the target system with so many requests that they can't function anymore and have to be shut down or crash. The fact that the attack is being perpetrated from a large number unsuspecting victim's computers from all over the world, makes it very, very hard to nail down the bad guy.

More on DDOS if you are so inclined: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

If I interfere with say , a hospital's ability to function I'd consider that to be a criminal act .

I'd posit that doing the same to your phone service would be criminal too .

It's sort of like infecting a classroom of kids with Ebola and sending them into the general population ....

In the Police and Justice Act 2006, the United Kingdom specifically outlawed denial-of-service attacks and set a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.[46]

In the US, there can be a serious federal crime under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act with penalties that include years of imprisonment. Many other countries have similar laws.

Sounds illegal to me .

Yes, that is pretty straight forward, but how to catch the person(s) responsible is still the big question. It's not just finding out who, but you need to find out where they are living. It could be anywhere in the world.  :-\

But, as with most criminals, they make mistakes and I hope lulzsec makes one soon.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Spooky

As promised, lulzsec struck again and Eve is down for the count.

"19-Year Old Alleged LulzSec Ringleader Arrested in England (Updated)

Sam Biddle — British police dealing with digital crime have apprehended a 19-year-old in Essex, England, accused of participating in LulzSec's recent rash of bold online assaults. This would mark the first time an actual human's been nabbed since the Lulz riot started."

Watch out for your cornhole, bud
"Is this how time normally passes? Really slowly, in the right order?"

Spooky

A small step. Hopefully this guy knows who the rest of the gang are and they get nabbed too.
