In fairness, I only watched the first three episodes of MA S.H.I.E.L.D.
But here's a thought:  What if Mo Tancharoen and Jed Whedon just aren't that good?  At least in this genre?

No, it's the truth. Like I said above it seems Joss leant his profile to this to give his brother
a boost and it may have bombed on him. I didn't find the cast appealing from the beginning,
apparently I wasn't the only one.

I'll also say they have 16 or so episodes to show us they can get a finer edge .
I like the show .
But it ain't no Buffy/Angel/Firefly .
And I suspect it won't ever be .
Much like the rest of mainstream television .

  She has a great figure but she isn't that amply endowed to be called amazing. She
looked bigger in the bouncy scene than she does here. Granted she looks bigger
than most of Joss's heroines that have boyish figures though.

The writers for Sleepy Hollow also wrote Fringe. They said they learned to make the episodes more self-contained while still advancing the overall arc. You can miss an episode and still get the gist of what is going on.

SHIELD lost more viewers again last night, preliminary numbers down about 700K from the week before. They will probably adjust upward but the show continues to slide. It is pretty much mirroring what No Ordinary Family did a few years back, which was cancelled after one season.

Most of the people on Reddit cannot stand the cast, the acting, or the writing. They want to like the show, but can't bring themselves to do it.

Maybe Coulson needs to blow another hole in the side of the Mystery Machine (one that cannot be plugged with an inflatable raft) and jettison this group of agents. Start from scratch. Or have him wake up in Tahiti (it's a magical place) at the end of the season and exclaim that he had the worst nightmare ever then start from scratch.

LOL!!!  Love the idea to have Coulson wake from a dream in magical Tahiti!

I thought the same thing...about the lacking, not the possible blasphemy. Have they attached themselves to any other tv show besides Drop Dead Diva? I think they may have bit off more than they can chew.

Ahhhh...THAT bouncy scene. This was when I was tidying up the bathroom I think. heh.

You know, if I ever do anything that ticks off some secret 'not government but scarier', I hope they just cuff me, take me in and then ask me to help them out. Even stranding me in another country is fine...considering what the real world possibilities could be!!

Takeaways from the article: Are there any compelling characters? This is the big one, and may ultimately be irreparable without ditching the bulk of the cast and starting over.

Where have we heard that before?

...but if the next episode of "SHIELD" were to open with time-traveling supervillain Kang removing all six of these leads from existence and replacing them with new characters, I don't know that I'd genuinely miss any of them.

This guy deserves a raise!
