Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

I couldn't get into book four after a couple chapters so I'm taking a break, but your idea in the spoiler is very intriguing Mark.

Is Jon Snow really Ned's son? This thought isn't a spoiler, just a rumination.
My guess is that his true parentage is likely to be Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen
My thoughts exactly.

More thoughts on Jon and Tyrion.
I think that Jon is indeed the son of Layanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, but I also think that Tyrion may be the son of Aerys Targaryen and Joanna Lannister‎. There isn't as much evidence pointing towards the latter as there is the former, but it would explain his fascination with dragons and his dreams of dragons (like other Targaryens) and the idea of Tyrion being Jon's uncle and Dany's sister is kind of cool. Also, but by no means proof on any sort, both Tyrion's and Dany's mothers died during childbirth.

Spoiler for book 4
I know there are supposed to be three heads of the dragon and obviously Dany is one for sure and then you have young Griff/Aegon in the mix as one and that would leave out Jon or Tyrion, but what if Griff/Aegon is a feint like Jeyen/Arya? Or what if GRRM kills him off and then needs a third head?

Just another snip of why I think Tyrion may be a dragon. Again, probably nothing...
I mentioned before about his and Dany's mothers dying during childbirth. How about Jamie killing Aerys and Tyrion killing Tywin. Did they kill each others fathers?
Seems like the Jon theory is pretty popular and has a name.  R+L=J

Just read the first Dunk and Egg story. Good stuff and gives a little insight into Westeros history.

It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze
We want to see you lead a normal life

GRRM understands the younger generation.

QuoteYou met [his assistant] Ty, he think it's generational. That people who are angry [about Book 5 taking six years] are younger people from what he calls The Entitlement Generation. They want instant gratification — something that they're used to from the Internet. I'm from the Baby Boomer generation, and we had to wait for s–t, man. If I heard about a book, it might never come to the spinner rack at the local drugstore. If I wanted to see a movie, we'd have to hope they'd show it on television at some time. It's Ty's theory, not mine, but maybe it's true.

Do the Starks change their words to "Spring is Coming" when winter is in full force? "Winter is Coming' just doesn't cut it when it finally comes now does it you silly, dark haired, grey eyed, too honorable for your own damn good northern bumpkins.
