Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

I though Lacey would be in the top 10 at least. Oh well.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Spooky

BTW, I don't think the "vote for the worst" crowd can get Tim past 8 or 9.

Hey, Sanjaya made it to 7th. A lot of young girls were probably voting for him, too, but he was VFTW's poster child.

Lee DeWyzeThe Letter – He did a very good job. I personally didn't like the the version of the song. His performance was very good, but I kinda of agree with Simon. Good performance/great voice, but not a "moment" inspiring performance... whatever that means.

Paige MilesAgainst All Odds – Is it bad that I want her to do bad?  >:D She's getting ready to start. Here we go... No no no no no no no no.  :lala: If she's not gone tomorrow then something's not right with the world. "Yo man yo wow!" Randy said it. Quit boooing people! The judges are right.

Tim UrbanThis Crazy Little Thing Called Love – Oh, GREAT! Paige and Tim back to back. Should I plug my ears? Not looking forward to this at all. I almost don't want to watch it. I guess following that train wreck Paige left behind can only be a plus for Tim. Here we go... Hey, I think I saw this guy at that karaoke bar last week. He should have stuck with the guitar and done a different song. Not as bad as Paige though, so that's something, or something. Heh, randy said karaoke too.  at Simon.

Aaron KellI Don't Want To Miss A Thing – Not bad considering he's sick. I would love to hear a great performance from him. One thing though, he's got the bestest last name ever!

Crystal BowersoxBobby McGee – She looks great. I love her hair and dress. The slow start to the song had me worried, but she rocked it!  :headbang: I would have been surprised if she hadn't done well. So excited to hear more from her.

Michael LyncheWhen A Man Loves A Woman – I agree with the judges pretty much right down the line. It was good, but he can do better. I like Ellen's speed limit comment. Be like Sammy, Michael... "I can't drive 55!"

Andrew GarciaHeard It Through The Grapevine – He looks like J.J. Abrams a little bit doesn't he? Wait, *is* that J.J. signing up there? It's doesn't sound like Andrew. Meh. Not horrible, but he seemed kind of LOST and has probably dropped to the Fringe on my list of favorites. Maybe he can adopt an Alias next week.  I'm such a dork!

Katie Stevens Big Girls Don't Cry – Is it weird that I've never hear this song before? Is is weirder that I still wish I hadn't heard this song before? Well Miss pitchy, it wasn't great, wasn't horrible.

Casey JamesThe Power of Love – He sounds a little like Huey. (kind of like Castle reminds Beckett of little of Hooch). I agree with Simon. It wasn't original. It sounded almost exactly like the original, so it wasn't original, because it was like the original... O-rigi-NAL... That word has no meaning to me anymore. Ok, 'nuff foolin' 'round. It wasn't bad Casey. I actually enjoyed it. I like that song and you did it well buddy.

Didi BenamiYou're No Good – I like the way she says "baby". Not the best song choice,  but she did it all right I guess. Simon was cruel. It wasn't that bad. Not Paige bad anyway. I'm going to start using that phrase at work. When someone messes up I'll say, "Dude! That was Paige bad!" - have I had too much scotch? Thank god for spell-check.

Siobhan MagnusSuperstition – *sigh* My AI2010 crush. She said wicked cool!  :headbang: AHHHHHHH! Don't like the outfit at all! No no no the scream did not work at all this time. The rest of the performance was pretty good. Not my favorite from her. Please don't scream like that so often. I don't like it.

My order in favorites of my list. Huh? What? (not just tonight, but overall).

Crystal Bowersox
Lee DeWyze

Siobhan Magnus

Andrew Garcia

Paige Miles - she's probably going home.

One more finger of scotch before bedtime.

I thought Lee did better this week. I love "The Letter." I had no idea it went to #1.

Other than Lee and Crystal, this week was pretty boring.

Paige, Paige, Paige! I had forgotten Mariah Carey had covered "Against All Odds." Too soft in the beginning for too long. Starting off soft is ok, but I kept wanting her to step it up. By then, it was too late.

I had to hear Tim's playback because I was on the phone. Dear God.

Michael's performance was good, I liked his take on it. Sometimes you have to bring people back down to Earth, and I understand that. I think he's taking a lot of cues from Wanya Morris from Boyz II Men: their voices remind me a lot of each other's.

Andrew's performance was strange ~ just didn't go far enough.

Katie sang a Fergie song and I don't know why the judges didn't bring up the smiling like they did with Paige singing "Walk Away." There was no sad emotion. Fergie's song is about moving on after a breakup and that she's trying to hold it together and not cry, even though deep down she's sad about it. When Paige sang, I was like, where is the pain, she's 24! She's got to know about pain. Maybe not. I'm not feeling the connection with the songs. I think Aaron did ok with his song with connecting, but I missed that performance, too.

Poor Casey sounded crazy similar to Huey, WTH! It was *almost* like a throwaway performance. I think he had fun singing and playing the guitar. He is quite marketable though.

And the connection didn't click for me with Didi either. Was everybody on Valium last night?

And Siobhan. Are you ready for this? She's kinda like a cross between Mira Sorvino's Romy and Garth's girlfriend in Wayne's World 2 who can sing really good. (Yes, I said it.) But I quote Ozzy complaining there was a lot of ruckus in the house on The Osbornes: "Stop screaming!"

I still can't believe Tim didn't booted off for the reggae version of "Under My Thumb." I do recall actually singing a few lines of the chorus of Adam Sandler's "Piece of gao se Car" while Tim was singing his song last week, it was so corny-reggae. Sandler's songs are fun.

Crystal is amazing and I wish the women on the panel would quit trying to change her
personality to something it isn't. She is shy and quiet and comes out with this wonderful
voice that says it all. I'm glad Simon said something, she's not up there to entertain with
a gimmicky performance. Her voice speaks for itself and to try and make her more outgoing
to feed this insatiable appetite of more more more is ludicrous. I'm surprised Ellen wouldn't
realize what she said but then she always feels like she has to be on.

Me too. Like Simon said, this show is about finding a recording artist and I'll add, not a dancing monkey. This isn't America's Got Talent.

Crystal Bowersox is the number one trending topic for the USA on Twitter right now. People are talking about her.  :D

She really is the best but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of competition this year. Even
if there were though she is just a natural. Amazing the hidden talent out there. Hard to believe
no one ever heard her before.

I go see a few local bands every year and I am always blown away by what I hear. I think much of the local talent is better than a lot of acts in the current Billboard top 100 and I am sure you'd find that's true of the local talent in many cities around the country. It's really hard getting yourself known beyond your local digs though. You would think that the Internet would be a good marketing tool, but you really have to be creative (beyond your music) to make yourself stand out in the, very crowded, online world. The music industry is about getting seen by the right people in the industry (and then having the power of the industry marketing machine working for you), having a platform like AI to launch your career, or being so spectacularly good that people can't ignore you. "It's hard out here for a pimp."
