Caprica Cast Coming Together

The Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica is adding actors at warp speed.

Esai Morales will play Joseph Adama, father of Galactica's interstellar Cylon-buster William Adama, in the two-hour Caprica pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Morales (pictured) played Maj. Edward Beck in CBS' troubled but beloved series Jericho.

Paula Malcomson will play Amanda Graystone, Caprica's female lead, according to Sci Fi Wire. The hard-edged actress previously appeared on ABC's Lost, and played reformed whore Trixie in HBO's foul-mouthed Western Deadwood.

Caprica will reportedly follow in Galactica's gritty footsteps and revolve around the Adama and Graystone families. The show will portray events 50 or so years prior to the Cylon sneak attack that kicked off Sci Fi's re-imagined series about a rag-tag band of humans searching for a new home on Earth.

The prequel will begin filming this summer, with a year-end release, according to SyFy Portal.

Huh.  Guess they're only gonna have the Toasters as Cylons.  Didn't it say in the Pilot (movie, whatever) that there had been no contact from the Cylons for 50 years?

I really hope Caprica is at least as good as BSG.  *Of course, if it is, we all know what'll happen.....
