Brief response to questions confirm a Blu-ray Disc release of Firefly episodes

Yesterday we reported that Jewel Staite, who played "Kaylee" on Firefly, had talked a couple of weekends ago at the Supernova Pop Culture Expo in Australia. There Staite revealed that she had recently been asked to provide new commentary for what she called "a special edition of Firefly in a box set". Many of you were very excited, but some fans immediately questioned this, wondering if the Australia location of Staite's revelation meant that perhaps this release is planned for "down under", instead of the United States.
Our own Gord Lacey contacted Fox Home Entertainment about Staite's comments, and asked them if this release - if actually coming - would be on DVD or Blu-ray Disc. Fox replied that it is indeed coming, for Blu-ray Disc format!
Firefly has been seen broadcast in HD, but this will be the first high-definition home video release for episodes of the series. The feature film based on the series, Serenity, was previously released by Universal on the now-defunct HD DVD format, but is not yet available on Blu-ray Disc.
The response we received from Fox was very brief, but also commented that "word travels fast". As you can imagine by how recently Staite indicates she was contacted (she had "just heard", as you may recall), this package is still in the planning and development stages. Therefore, a release timeframe hasn't been set yet, and many details have not been finalized. Stay tuned, though, because we'll be keeping a close eye on this, and will update you as further info comes in.
Damn, the fundage is too tight for this...
I'll buy the set even if I don't have a Blueray .

I'll probably sell the Wii and assorted goodies to scrape up the cash. FF in HD is awesome.

I did that with the Serenity HDDVD and will do the same with the Blu-ray. Gotta support the cause! :angel:

It wasn't that big a deal, I just thought I was going nuts with a typo there. :loloeo:
The filter was set to not look at whole word, so it would take the c r a p out of s c r a p e and convert it to crap. Now it won't cherry pick words from the middle of words. :idea:
So we can say Bushitler now?
