I just rewatched Dollhouse looking for the funny but subtle lines.
The man yelling at Tammoh and saying, "I'm a billionaire and I want a confessor, nurse, dominatrix ... an omellette chef."
Tammoh telling the guy in the bathroom to wash his hand...and shoes.
The programmer exlaining Miss Penn is nearsighted ... and she has asthma.
The funny is there, Joss will bring it out...IF the network lets us see it.
Drive only aired 4 eps.
I LOVED Drive from the pre-ep snippet we saw at B3. I loved the eps they gave us.
Maybe I will retime my meds, and rewatch Dollhouse. I think, since Joss wants to make it smart and funny, the suits want to maki it mysterious and creepy, they are losing something in the translation.
I hope it gets better one way or another.
I do like that they put it on after T:SCC, now I can probably be sure to see both.
Oh, off topic, but I do plan on seeing the ep of Big Bang Theory with Summer playing herself on it!!
I still think they need to make an ep of either Chuck, or Big Bang Theory or heck, all of them meeting at Comic Con!!
This is the 40th anniversary of CC....They could do a lot of filming on preview night and after hours....they have all the free extras they'd need!! hehe.
You know the problem with the funny with this show is going to be with the actors. Firefly was made up
of a bunch of actors that did humor, dry wit, and sarcasm really well. Joss's type of humor came off really
sharp with this group but I don't see the same type of actors on Dollhouse that could carry that load. It takes
a special type to play humor well, you don't have it here.

I must be missing the asthma joke. How is this funny?
I agree with Phyll on the 'type of humor' and the actors who can deliver it...and with Tink on the 'humor' in the asthma joke. So, when someone needs all the help they can get, and 'buy' the aid of a 'super' hero type, they get a defective one...one who can be 'downed' by her own body and the need for an inhaler. To me that is not funny....I just don't get it.
Plus, for me it is easier to believe that people can have their personalities erased and new ones reprogrammed, than to believe that they have to use 'real persons' 'memories' or whatever.
"My own worst enemy" gave him a totally fake 'background', not based on anyone else.
I thought the whole point was, with Dollhouse is that they were all FAKE personnas...like 'dolls'....when you are a little girl, you might make one the mommy, one the daddy, and so on, but mostly you are creating NEW personnas who are BETTER than those you know in real life. *shrug*

So far, a much better show than Dollhouse. To bad it died.

Yep, I really liked it too. I can't see Dollhouse lasting if it didn't.

The irony of expecting someone strong getting someone "lacking" also the delivery "and she has asthma."
The unexpectedness of her having asthma struck me as funny.
