I guess I'll do a sporadic update of Euro Cup soccer ( football )
http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season=2012/tournament-calendar/index.html (http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/season=2012/tournament-calendar/index.html)
16 nations in four groups .
Each group plays a round robin .
Top two from each group advance into crossover matches .
This is something I'll enjoy way better than the Olympics .
Go England
thus was the kiss of death meted before the first touch :-\
England and France tied 1-1 at the half .
It's refreshing to see two sides go at each other with pace and tenacity and not have the faking of injuries .
Dude gets tackled .
Dude gets up .
Unpossible !
And now a French player just swatted an Englishman in the face .
He reacts , the ref blows a foul and the Englishman defers to the French side .
If it had been an Italian , he'd still be down and his family called in .
;)
:spitdrink:
3-2 England over Sweden

Great game , a hard fought back and forth match with another refreshing lack of grass-diving .
:like:
England survives an early malaise and wins on a score from the spokesman for "Hairplugs for Thugs" .
Good game .
Ukraine was robbed on the neutralizer but , then again , it was offside .

A coworker is playing for our company soccer team and after their last game one of the opposing players told him that he should have played the fall instead of playing the ball on a certain play. Really? Flopping in a rec league? :wall:

It happens at all levels .
There's "going down" and then there's "simulation" .
Which according to the Brazilian coach in World Cup 2002 is actually "guile" .
Or as we'd call it ,
cheatingRivaldo Dive - 2002 World Cup. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c17aeF7JxAg#)
The #1 reason I despise the Brazilian National Team
( Turkey was robbed )
That guy deserves a real punch to the face for that move.

He was fined , Turkey was eliminated and Brazil took the Cup .
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivaldo#International_career (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rivaldo#International_career)
His early performance at the tournament was spoiled by his play-acting in the group match against Turkey.[22] In the closing stages of the match, with the ball out of play, Turkish defender Hakan Ünsal kicked a ball towards Rivaldo, who was waiting at the corner flag. The ball struck his thigh, but Rivaldo fell to the ground clutching his face. The referee sent the Turkish player off with a second yellow card. After a video review, Rivaldo was fined 11,670 Swiss Francs by FIFA, 1,670 of which were for "costs"( as far as I'm concerned there should be post-match video reviews and any obvious simulations should be Red Cards at the least . Perhaps multiple games for repeat offenders )
