Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

"Is this how time normally passes? Really slowly, in the right order?"

Finished re-watching the series.
There was one episode (#7 or 8?) where I wondered if they had read the book at all -- it was almost like the screenwriter was given an outline of the story and told to fill in the rest.  Still a good series, but just some interesting decisions.  And having the deserter Jon Snow take Mormont's gifted sword with him actually changes the character from one who was definitely his father's son to someone more like a Lannister.  I mean, even Mormont's own son, Ser Jorah, had the dignity to not take the sword with him in his shame.

(I'll grant that it's a minor quibble in the scheme of things, and easily missed)

AdmiralDigby

Mormont gives the sword to Jon in the books .

Ah , you're referring to the night ride ?

???

Yep!  In the book he tells himself that he at least had the integrity to leave Longclaw because even Mormont's own son did when he left (instead of taking it away in his shame). Longclaw was clearly obvious in the show when the brothers hand his sword back and it has the wolf pommel.

I fear I'm treading into "Han shot first!" territory, but it does speak differently to his own integrity of character.

They've done so well , imo , that I'll let pass any S1 transgressions .

( my biggest beef is not allowing Tyrion his heroics with his Hill Tribes but I'm guessing that was a $$$$ decision and it was pretty funny )

They did let him smash that guys face in quite a bit with a shield, but I would have liked to have seen him wield an axe and cause a bit more carnage like he did in the book
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Likewise - then again his battle prowess in the book does seem a bit much .

I can't wait for the .....
Battle of the Blackwater , "Those men are very brave. Let's go kill them!"
QuoteIrish model-turned-actress Lisa Nolan obviously hadn't seen the first season of HBO's "Game of Thrones" as she was so caught off guard by the nudity in the currently filming second season that she walked off the set according to HBO Watch.

Dillane did well as Thomas Jefferson in John Adams

Too bad Lisa Nolan got such a wake-up call.  It's understandable, though.

I'm having a little trouble getting into the A Clash of Kings story, though I'm only at the prologue. Hopefully it'll pick up soon 'nuff.
