Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze

Season finale.  Eh.

No S2 discs or S3 HBO for us, either.

TinkTanker

I'll catch it tomorrow.

The high point of this season was the green fire and that wasn't that big a deal to me. Maybe if I had read the book but after seeing stuff like LOTR and all, it was about 15 minutes of a battle with some fire filtered to look green.

No S2 discs for me either. Once my free subscription to HBO is up, no more HBO.

On the bright side, True Blood!

Don't get me wrong; I found it a decent season and it seems every review I read yet gushes about how fantastic it was (TVOvermind reviewer says Peter Dinklage locked-in his second Emmy award last night).
I just didn't find it as great as the first season. The pacing felt off; important subtleties not conveyed well or at all; too much exposition; too many changes from the books; etc.  YMMV.

Also, I guess the Wildlings have learned how to eat rocks and snow to survive up in the North, because it's barren as heck up there.

I haven't seen the finale but will whore myself out regardless .

;)

Agreed. Maybe they are hitting the sophomore slump so many shows encounter. They are probably doing the best they can with the budget and time constraints they have. From what I remember, they did a very good job adapting the first book in the first season. So much so that if you had seen the show, you could probably skip reading the book. This year, the pacing was so off and there were so many events going on in so many different places with so many different characters a lot of the time I found myself wondering WTF was going on and later (often as not) not really caring. Ann stopped after the first episode and I don't know if she's going to pick it back up. I know Spooky and Digby dug it because they knew what was supposed to be related. To me, it was just a series of events. The acting was good from time to time, but I thought it better last year.

When they break book three down into two seasons, maybe that will be better. Or maybe the story is just too complex to be fully translated to the screen. At any rate, it worked for me last year in a big way. This year I was pretty indifferent for the most part. I didn't hate it, I just didn't care for it.

This finale really worked for me .

Stoked , stoked and stoked .

I'm biased but I have no problem feeling really good about this .

That's great, Mark.  I fully understand where you, as a fan of the books, are coming from.  I'm certainly not out to put a damper on your fun.  I'm being completely hypocritical in railing on GoT for veering off the course of the books, while praising John Carter of Not-Mars for finally giving my favorite characters a breath of life.

Unfortunately for me, A Song of Ice and Fire just doesn't much speak to me like it does you or teh Spokky. Diff strokes and whatnot.
