Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

Give Crystal the award now!! Please let her and Lee sing a duet. They would be great together and
what the Hell is that Urban guy doing still in there? We must have a bunch of teeny boppers voting again.

Eric

I was telling Pearl last night that even though I don't watch AI directly (my computer is in the same room), every time Crystal's on she gives a great performance.
The others all pretty much blend together for me.

I don't watch it either. I just watch the You Tube performances so I don't have to listen to that long
drawn out show and so I don't have to listen to the lousy singers. I wait until they get pared down
quite a bit and then go back and listen to old performances of the really good singers. Crystal has
shined from the beginning and Lee when he chooses a great song. The rest are just fillers this year.
They saved Lynch but they shouldn't have and lord knows why Tim is still there. Even the judges are
getting sick of the other performances except for Lee and Crystal. They know who the winner and runner
up should be and seem to be disgusted that they have to listen anymore.

There can be a straggler contestant in the mix in the Top 6 or 7. I recall John Stevens, Sanjaya Malakar, and Megan Joy. They have talent, but they're not stand-outs. Or they're Vote for the Worst's top pick. Or they have an insane fan base who dial a LOT.

It's still a competition and the good singers get to be evident pretty quickly. Sometimes there's a few dark horses here and there who end up staying throughout the competition, even winning. Who would have thought Kris Allen would win? Or Elliott Yamin doing so well (finishing 3rd)? It's the VOICE. It's ALWAYS the voice. If it were based on popularity, then Chris Daughtry would have won and not Taylor Hicks. But I digress...

Some notes:

Alicia Keys *is* a beautiful woman and amazingly wonderful performer. She is excellent in concert.

I wasn't feeling Siobhan. Her tone is too weird to me. And Tim....that didn't even remotely sound anything like the Goo Goo Dolls! I know you can change it up, but the melody was so transformed I barely recognized the song!! No umph either. You don't have to scream it, but you do need to "bring" it.  I liked the beginning of Michael's performance; I thought he was going acoustic and strings. I see what Simon was saying about it being the song from Spiderman and not the typical uplifting song, but it *is* about stepping in and becoming the hero yourself. (Love the original. I am a huge Josey Scott fan.)

Crystal, Lee and Casey in the top 3 for me. Crystal or Lee for the win, but it doesn't matter to me. It'll probably be Mamasox anyway.  :praise:

Didn't watch the whole show last night, but there wuz preaching last night about Earth Week during commercial breaks on Idol Gives Back, which was a little annoying. "Ask for less napkins, or put them in your car for those unexpected messes..."  Really, Randy and Kara? Have you seen my glove compartment or kitchen drawer of foil, press 'n seal wrap, sauce packets and NAPKINS? I bet Randy and Kara felt like r-tards. Or not...it's a toss-up with those two. How about REaddressing the LITTERING in this country? How 'bout that?

Look, it's easy: REthink with REason & REcycle and REspect your Environment.

Back to the show: One of the stories was pretty amazing of an African girl who is HIV positive and was skin and bones. Annie Lennox visited her when she was sick and then later and the girl was doing strides better with treatment, looking healthy. I was glad to see a happy ending, but I'm sure there are a lot of people that don't make it.

One of the sadder moments was when a teacher asked her class how many had known someone who died from malaria. Almost every kid raised his or her hand.

So many problems in the world. It's easy to lose hope. But the world is still beautiful.

American Idol's Crystal Bowersox: "I Never Intended on Quitting"
Wed., Apr. 21, 2010 12:08 PM PDT by Megan Masters

You can add "smart cookie" to the ever-growing list of talents for American Idol frontrunner Crystal Bowersox.

After all, no one wants to vote for a contestant who doesn't wholeheartedly want to be there, and now Crystal is downplaying the whirlwind reports she was thisclose to quitting American Idol.

So what's the real story behind her talk with Ryan Seacrest? Here's what Crystal just told us:

"I never intended on quitting. None of that [was true]," Crystal said of the reports claiming Ryan convinced her to stay on. "We had a conversation, but it definitely didn't go down the way that it has been portrayed as. We had a simple, civil conversation. Ryan gave me great advice. And I highly respect him. I am not mad at Ryan Seacrest. He is a great man. We just bumped into each other and had a good talk."

So just to be clear, those tears last night had nothing to do with her wanting to leave Idol?

No. "I was just looking at my dad the whole time, and the judges were kind to me, [so] I was a bit emotional," she told us.

And Crystal very much appreciates the family she's bonding with on the show. "These are lifelong relationships we're building here. This isn't just a show where, 'Hey, you're gone, we're never going to talk to you again.' We're all friends."

So it seems Crystal's not going anywhere unless America points its votes elsewhere, which isn't likely anytime soon.

Are you onboard the Bowersox express or has another Idol swept you away? Voice your support of the contestants in the comments, and tune into Idol Gives Back at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Poor Siobhan. She's now the top pick on Vote for the Worst.

A case with four stones in it! Not one or two or three but four! Four stones!

Poor Zorg..
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Top 6 (thought I'd list 'em this time, Spook)

Lee DewyzeYou're Still The One – My favorite performance of the night!! Nailed it.

Michael LyncheIt Only Hurts When I'm Breathing – I didn't really pay attention, but it sounded good.

Casey JamesDon't! – This was very stripped down and therefore different for him. Nice.

Crystal BowersoxNo One Needs To Know – I like this Shania song. There is a comfortableness and laid-back-ness that is missing in Crystal's performance. I didn't think it was so horrible like the judges said; it was simply low-key and sometimes that is okay. Maybe they were looking for the star factor. But she was as comfortable as she was gonna get, for now, with being on stage in front of people and performing with a new band.

Aaron KellyYou've Got A Way –  This was absolutely his best performance.

Siobhan MagnusAny Man Of Mine – She did it justice, even sounded a little like Shania, so I don't think she did much different, except for her crazy-ass stupid screaming.

It's going to be a hard decision and I'm actually feeling the need to vote!!!

Lee DewyzeYou're Still The One – Really liked it. I noticed the pitch problems that were mentioned, but when the performance is that good the pitch problems don't really matter.

Michael LyncheIt Only Hurts When I'm Breathing – Very good. Not much else to say.

Casey James Don't! – Nice job. It very much sounded like I heard it on the radio.

Crystal BowersoxNo One Needs To Know – You know what? I thought it was very good. Does it live up to some of her other performances? No, to be honest, but I still liked it. She has set the bar very high and at this point she can have a good performance that seems

Aaron KellyYou've Got A Way –  I agree that this was his best. Nicely done kid.

Siobhan MagnusAny Man Of Mine – It was OK. I'd say my least favorite of the night, but not horrible. About the screaming... "Giving birth" - Simon  :loloeo:
