Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

I just started this the other day, pretty good read. Maybe 25% the way through, so if you pick it up and it sucks, the part I read was good.

It is a post-apocalyptic zombie novel. Whereas most zombie stories move forward from the premise that nobody knows WTF zombies are, this world knows what they are from pop culture and are prepared for it when the zombie apocalypse happens. The zombies get a huge foothold, but life and civilization move on. Areas are quarantined, areas are deemed safe. Everyone has to be tested when entering every building, every time. Oh, and anything roughly 40lbs or over turns zombie once infected. Zombie deer, zombie giraffes, zombie dogs, zombie horses.

When the outbreak occurred, traditional media played down the outbreak. Nontraditional media (bloggers and the like) quickly became the trusted news sources and remain so in the book, which takes place in 2040ish, some 25 years or so after the "Rising" as they call it. The story is told in the first person, a blogger herself. They know what caused the zombies apocalypse and they are living with it.

Mira Grant is the pen name of Seanan McGuire, one of Ann's favorite authors. McGuire writes the October Daye fantasy series, which Ann highly recommends as well.

It's nice here with a view of the trees
Eating with a spoon?
They don't give you knives?
'Spect you watch those trees
Blowing in the breeze
We want to see you lead a normal life

Will probably check this one out.
And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

Normally I am a total spoiler whore, but I stopped reading the Wiki when I saw that Mira Grant is Seanan McGuire.

I thought C5 might like this as well, as it deals with the blogosphere as well.

Let us know - I think I'd like the dead tree version if it's any good .

So far, so good.

As I've said before, it is kind of hard for me to actually read, but this is a pretty easy read. The world is fairly well constructed, her writing style is easy to follow. There aren't 140 characters or anything like that.  :P

Silly sub 1,000 page books .
