Oh dear, Linda hasn't aged real well. Hope they get a good makeup artist, I hate to see her looking
so old. How old is she by the way?
It ain't the years, it's the miles.

Yikes!! Your right!! She is only 54!! Not aged well is an understatement!!
Part of the problem, IMHO, is that she has a ridiculously low amount of body fat and her wrinkles show up more. That and she was married to that douchebag James Cameron.
The Dolph! Ferrigno! (He is such a nice guy. But don't make him angry)

The marriage to Cameron was a long while ago but if it did that to her. Yuck! :)
The thing is at that age she really shouldn't have that many wrinkles. Probably a sun worshiper and smoker
at one time.
Probably a sun worshiper and smoker at one time.
I'd say that is the bulk of it.

It doesn't look like she was wearing any makeup in that picture and the hair color is awful so maybe
the makeup artists can work their magic.

I never thought she looked that great in that movie. Too sinewy and had lost too much body fat.

Oh fun!! Not wild about the shorter haircut but the show looks great although I'm not seeing some
old timers I want to see. Morgan even looks better looking. That is one character that really developed
well over the series. I couldn't stand the little runt at first.

'Chuck': The Little Spy Show that Could Returns Tonight
by Brian Cherry
The 2007 fall season was to new television shows what a gold-digging Russian home wrecker with a tape recorder was to Mel Gibson's career. Most of the new network offerings that year met with a premature ratings death and were unceremoniously cancelled. One of my favorite shows, "Chuck," emerged from the carnage. Despite some trials and tribulations, this show has clawed its way back from the same chopping block that took "Back to You," "Caveman," and "Dirty, Sexy Money" and is now once again part of the NBC Prime Time lineup. The trip was not an easy one, though.
"Chuck" is a well written, snappy, multi-layered show that doesn't hang its hat on one particular peg. It can be funny, poignant, dramatic, and action packed (sometimes all at once). These are all points in its favor; none of it would be any good if the cast couldn't deliver what the writers had created. Let's face it, Shakespeare's best work would seem absolutely silly if Paris Hilton was delivering the dialogue.
The "Chuck" cast is led by Zachery Levi in the title role of Chuck Bartowski, a computer repair person at an electronic store who accidentally becomes a national security asset (or liability...it depends on your point of view). Yvonne Strahovski plays his occasionally lethal but always stunning CIA minder and girlfriend, Sara Walker. Television and film veteran, Adam Baldwin, rounds out the main cast as Colonel John Casey. Colonel Casey is an NSA agent, and the third member of "Team Bartowski." He is what one would get if they combined the patriotism of Ronald Reagan, the crabbiness of Lucy from the Charlie Brown cartoons, and the sheer destructive power of Godzilla or Mike Tyson.
The chemistry between these three is tremendous and together they are both entertaining and charming. While Zachery, Yvonne, and Adam do the heavy lifting, they are backed up by a chorus of secondary characters that seem like they would be equally at home in a Douglas Adams' novel as they are within the world created by the writers of Chuck. In short, this is a three dimensional show that goes beyond the main characters. The guys off the bench are not just simply a backdrop or comic foil for the big three, but can carry story-lines on their own and make significant contributions. This makes it no surprise that Chuck was a favorite of the critics. Of course none of this meant very much when Chuck was slated for cancellation after the 2009 season.
Critics liked Chuck, but he wasn't bringing the sort of ratings that warranted renewal. Conventional wisdom says that if they focused less on creating stories and more on filming Yvonne Strahovski in lingerie, they could have attracted more people from the herd of those who find "Jersey Shore" or those "Real Housewives of..." shows so compelling. Thankfully, the creators seemed to have more integrity than that. In most cases, Chuck would have been quietly cancelled and probably replaced with a celebrity talent show. This wasn't "most" cases however. For a change the critics, viewing public, and big named sponsors were on the same page when it came to saving this show. An aggressive letter writing campaign by thousands of dedicated fans, articles written by supportive critics, and publicity stunts with major sponsors like "Subway" got the show renewed.
This is not the first time that a letter writing campaign has been mounted to save a television program. Many fans of "My Name is Earl" made a similar effort to save that show, but NBC still dropped the ax. Adam Baldwin spoke to Big Hollywood about why the fan-driven, "Save Chuck" effort succeeded where others had failed.
"There are two main elements that contributed to survivability. The main ones are the fan reaction to the show and the support that they put in over the time that it has been on the air. It is a dedicated fan base, loyal, and outspoken. The other main one is the fact that the producers were able to take a day out of the schedule. We were originally an eight day shooting schedule and that was cut to seven days, which decreased the budget by a full day, making the show more cost effective."
While the strong fan support and the flexibility of the producers, cast, and crew were enough to save Chuck, the show was relegated to the purgatory of the winter season, and theoretically had to prove its worth...again.
They started slow, with series low ratings numbers, but finished strong enough to instill confidence in NBC executives. They ordered 13 episodes for the fall season, with an option for an additional nine episodes. Success comes at a price. And Chuck may have stepped into a trap that has often been a series killer for many previous television programs.
A big part of the show has been the ongoing romantic entanglement (well actually, the non-entanglement) between Chuck and Sara. For quite some time it was very clear that the characters were deeply in love, but circumstances, duty, bad advice from friends, romantic clumsiness, and the fact that most geek types are not used to girls who are not made of polyurethane kept getting in the way. It created a delicious sort of sexual tension that was entertaining but ultimately unsustainable. In the past, once a show resolved the tension and got the characters together, it changed the on-screen dynamic in ways that ultimately led to cancellation. In short, the episodes became less captivating without the "will they or won't they" aspect. A good example of this is the show "Moonlighting" from the eighties. Bruce Willis and Cybil Shepherd played the leads in that detective show. Once the characters entered into a romantic relationship the program entered into ratings insolvency.
The trap in this situation is that if the tension goes on for too long, the viewer will simply get frustrated and abandon the show. If the tension gets resolved, the viewer will be emotionally satisfied, light a cigarette, and ultimately find a new show they can start a new tension-filled relationship with. "Friends" avoided this with Ross and Rachel because of a strong ensemble cast. There was always a balance of tension and emotional satisfaction that kept the audience fully engaged and tuned in.
When asked about this, Mr. Baldwin seemed to agree that character diversity would also continue to keep Chuck fresh and entertaining.
"You have a broader range of characters that people tune in to see. If people don't want to see just the two having a love story, then they can cut over to the Buy More."
Going forward into its fourth season Chuck is in a precarious position. At this point in time they have 54 episodes under their belt. This is short of the number of episodes that Chuck needs for a chance at syndicated immortality. For that honor they need approximately 88 unique episodes. The 13 episodes that NBC bought for this season pushes the total to 67, and if the extra 9 episode option gets picked up they are sitting on the syndication bubble of 76. So this is a make or break year for Chuck. I believe that the writing and the actors are up to the task. This is an extremely fun show, and if the goal is to entertain the audience then I say mission accomplished. The only danger that Chuck faces from a creative standpoint is if they try to fall back on the tired old saw of recapturing the sexual tension between Chuck and Sara. That ship has sailed, and the dynamic between the two is changed forever.
Neither the Mayan calendar that predicted the end of the world, nor the Amazing Kreskin had much to say about the future of Chuck, but in a perfect world Chuck will have a very long run. Chuck represents hope for a large segment of the population. Chuck makes everyone who can fix an operating system but is confused by the female obsession with shoes think that there is a better, more exciting life out there for them.
That was fun!
I'm glad they're letting Chuck and Sarah's relationship move forward.
New Buy More, Beckman in charge! I like it. The whole premise of the show is ridiculous; much better to run with that than to try for plausibility. Nice to see her in the opening credits, too.
Glad they went ahead and got the obvious out of the way--Chuck back with the CIA, Sarah and Casey in on the hunt for Mama Bartowski.
QuoteIs there room in that womb for two?

I feel bad: I am trying to catch Chuck during commercials for House simply because Fox shows aren't on demand. :'(
But we did see the Jeffster out in the wild, getting rounded up by Morgan and Casey. :haha:
Executive producer Chris Fedak says he hopes to slip in a Firefly joke when the new Greta Summer Glau shares a scene with Adam Baldwin in episode eight. And so we come to the most unlikely question I've ever asked: can Chuck top Castle?
A review of tonight's "Chuck" coming up just as soon as I wear my teeth-bleaching system in front of you(*)...
"We're all about to die over basically just one big relationship problem?" -Chuck
I assumed, based on the return of Armand Assante as Generalissimo Goya and promo photos like the one above, that "Chuck vs. the Coup D'Etat" was going to be a very Awesome (and Ellie)-heavy episode. And it wasn't quite that, though Devon and Ellie did get some nice showcase moments. Then I saw the end of last week's episode, and the opening scenes of this one, and thought this was going to be another episode highlighted by Chuck and Sarah's relationship bleeding over into their work. And while there was certainly a lot of that - much of it funny - that wasn't what I imagine I'll look back on this episode and remembering.
No, the best part of Goya's return was the best part of his debut appearance last season: the Angel De La Muerte himself, John Casey.
Though Casey is understandably a fan favorite, actual Casey-centric episodes have been kind of a mixed bag for the series. Last year's "Chuck vs. the Tic-Tac" was a dark highlight, but "Chuck vs. the Sensei" was one of the few weak spots in the fantastic season two, and "Chuck vs. the Undercover Lover" was a bit ragged, as it was one of the last episodes written before the strike shut down season one.
Casey does, on the other hand, have an excellent track record for walking away with episodes in which he's only partly featured. "Chuck vs. the Angel De La Muerte" was at least as much a Devon episode, if not more, yet the most memorable moments involved Casey. Here, he was arguably even lower on the totem pole, after Chuck/Sarah and Devon/Ellie, yet once Goya decides that only John Casey can protect him, Adam Baldwin owns the remainder of the episode, whether it's Casey being bad-ass both in and out of the wheelchair in the courtyard, Casey complaining of "the stench of tyranny" or Casey revealing some of what he learned during the two weeks he spent inside the wall ("He used to watch you sleep"). And even earlier than that, of course, there was all the tension between Casey and Morgan over the inevitable Morgan/Alex relationship, which ought to take us to some very amusing places in the coming weeks.
Of course, Casey's ascension in the second half did put Awesome and Ellie on the sidelines pretty quickly, but at least we got the Captain Awesome statue (Michaelangelo's David in scrubs) serving as an aphrodisiac during the babymoon, and from an emotional/story point, Ellie finally go to see Chuck in action, realize that he knows what he's doing (and likes doing it), and learn a little bit about Chuck's search for their mom. I hope the show has a good plan for the moment we all know is coming when Ellie discovers the full truth, but this one tiptoed up to the line nicely.
And as for Chuck and Sarah, I like how Morgan has now become a kind of audience surrogate, mocking them for how many fo their problems are caused by their inability to have an actual conversation. So then the episode proceeded to give them nothing but conversations - awkward, funny conversations that again played well to Yvonne Strahovski's impatient comic strengths.
I know some of you have complained that the show is pushing Chuck/Sarah too much this year. And I could certainly do with an episode or two where the mission isn't a referendum on their relationship. But on the other hand, the show did put them together after three years of building up to it, and I think it would be unfair - both from a storytelling point of view and simply for the Chuck/Sarah fans - if we came out of the gate acting like it was no big deal. I've liked these stories so far. There's been tension, but in a way that fits into what the show is about, rather than the "all shows are ruined when the couple finally hooks up" fallacy. And here they managed to give us a lot of Chuck/Sarah in an episode that also, as mentioned above, showcased Casey, and Devon and Ellie, and Morgan and even Big Mike. (Jeffster had the week off.) So I'm good.
Plus, Armand Assante was just as much hammy fun this time as last.
Some other thoughts:
• The NBC promo department couldn't find it in their hearts to allot 5 or 10 seconds to showing Sarah in her underwear two weeks ago, but I hear (though I did not see) that there was a commercial during football featuring the Sarah bikini fashion show. Sooner or later, you put Yvonne Strahovski in enough skimpy outfits and good things are going to happen. (And by "good things," I of course mean "promotion for 'Chuck.'")
• This week in "Chuck" music: "Laura" by Girls (Chuck and Morgan watch the surveillance footage), "Tropicana" by La Tropicana Orchestra (the music for Goya's invitation video), "Sleep Walk" by Santo & Johnny (Morgan, Casey and Alex talk), "Rebulu" by Jesus Alejandro Nino (Chuck and company arrive at Goya's party), "Without You" by Lewis LaMedica (Alex kisses Morgan) and "She Brings Me the Music" by RPA and The United Nations of Sound (Chuck learns about his mom through Goya, talks to Ellie about mom, and Sarah tells Chuck she loves him).
• Costa Gravas now has a Subway franchise. Of course. Heh. (A much funnier bit of product integration than Awesome's plug for a certain minivan.)
• Been a long time since I saw "The Mambo Kings." Does Assante sing "Besame Mucho" in that? Or was that scene just a riff on "Besame Mucho" as a cliche?
• It's a well the show has gone to before, but I never tire of Chuck being horrified by Ellie and Awesome's sex life.
• No Greta this week.
What did everybody else think?
Armand Assante is a great comedic actor. He does play the serious bad guy very well too, but there is something about him when he's playing comedy that I like.
Adam was very good in this ep.
My motherfrakkin' DVR screwed up and botched both this and House last night. I was seriously PO'ed. It only does this on Monday nights for some really odd reason and only two or three times a year. Just often enough to make me want to switch to another cable company, not often enough to actually do it.

Hmmm, I wonder if that is what happened to Castle last week. I didn't see that it was being preempted but it
didn't tape for me for some reason. It did record the next night at 1:00 in the morning though but quit before
the last few minutes were recorded so I was mad all over again.
What mine does is bust up the recordings. It will record like 39 minutes then stop then 6 minutes then four minutes then that's it. I have plenty of space left, it just glitches every now and then.

That sounds annoying. I had mine wipe out all of my recordings one time. Everything gone. I now tape my shows
twice on two DVRs on different TVs. Hopefully if one goes the other won't. I know that isn't feasible for everyone
but it has given me a little peace of mind since my Television habits are different from other peoples. I DVR everything
and watch when I want to and not when it actually is shown. That way hubby and I can share the big screen TV
with my shows and his football and basketball games. :)
We have two DVRs but to be honest, we use them so infrequently that it is a colossal waste of money. We usually just get our programs for, uh, alternative sources. 20 minutes after it airs, I can snag it. Now that Lost is not longer airing, we don't watch a single thing when it airs, more often than not the day after or later. Ann doesn't want to give them up though.

I'm a newby to the DVR world. Just had them a few years and they work well for me and the way I watch TV.
I thought I might continue taping my shows after I got them since I liked to save some series but with the DVDS
and DVR that has gone by the wayside. I don't like to watch anything on the computer if I don't have to. I'm
a ritual type of person and watching my shows especially in winter is kind of my destress time for me. I get
cosy with hot cider or hot chocolate and a warm afghan and a quiet room with the big screen and enjoy.
Better then valium. :) It's probably a girl thing. :)
I've really liked the last two episodes. Good integration of spy stuff and Buy More. Disabling the bad guys with smarts, not intersect knowledge.
Plus Chuck actually being honest with Ellie!
Yeah I did, too.
I felt so bad at the end for Chuck and Ellie (especially). It's kinda freaky how much Linda Hamilton looks like Sarah Lancaster. It's kinda cool!
Our local affiliate showed a debate between our idiot Congressman and his opponent. I'll probably get a chance to watch it tonight though.

That last scene between Chuck and Ellie was intense. Well played by both actors.

A review of tonight's "Chuck" coming up just as soon as I find a baby encyclopedia...
"Why does she keep doing this to us?" -Ellie
"Because she's a spy." -Chuck
Since the series began, Chuck has had a hard time balancing his personal life with his spy life, whether being forced to lie to his sister, miss important events on missions, or ruin promising relationships. What we're seeing this year is that this problem isn't a new one for the Bartowski family - that both mom and dad, at different points, decided that the best thing they could do for their kids was stay the hell away from them.
With Steven, we know his intentions were entirely pure, if muddled by whatever those early Intersect prototypes did to his brain. With Mary, on the other hand? That's an open question, and one that "Chuck vs. the Aisle of Terror" brings us no closer to answering.
The easy, feel-good move is for Mary's story to be on the level: she went deep undercover (whatever paperwork Casey's NSA pal found was planted to keep Volkoff's people off the scent), and she really does have Chuck and Ellie's best interests at heart. The messier, possibly more interesting, route is that Frost is exactly the rogue spy the NSA file says she is, and that Chuck developed all of his sweet, trusting instincts in spite of having a bad, bad mama.
"Chuck vs. the Aisle of Terror" was designed to keep things ambiguous, so we'll have to wait for a real answer. But in the interim, it was a strong dramatic showcase for Zachary Levi (I particularly like the look on his face early on when he says he just talked to a ghost). Chuck's self-aware enough to acknowledge his blind spot to Sarah, but still so earnest (or naive) that he lets himself get sucked into the idea that Mary is a hero with a secret identity, just like him.
This episode was our first prolonged exposure to Linda Hamilton as Mary, and one of the downsides to the episode's ambiguous portrait of the character is that Hamilton doesn't really get to define the character. I still think the idea of casting her as Chuck and Ellie's mom was great, and I look forward to seeing what she can do as the story moves along, but it felt like she was mainly doing exposition here.
And the various Chuck/Ellie/Mary angst was paired with a fairly silly - sometimes intentionally, sometimes not - Halloween-themed story with Robert Englund (the original Freddie Krueger for you youngins) as the inventor of a fear toxin.
I liked the FX work for the POV of people who have used the toxin (it fit in well with the show's usual style of extreme first-person POV shots for comedy's sake), and though the payoff of Jeff and Lester's Aisle of Terror saving the day was predictable, I still couldn't help laughing at the various mundane, slightly weird things that Jeff and Dr. Wheelwright both found so scary. ("Black licorice! Man feet! Otters!")
On the other hand, the whole business with Wheelwright's boobie-trapped device, the Castle lockdown, etc., was just goofy even by the relatively lax standards of "Chuck" plot logistics. Chuck and Sarah seemingly had forever until the gas released itself, yet they never bothered putting/keeping their masks on, nor did they think to step outside the lockdown area and just seal the gizmo in, instead choosing to foolishly let Wheelwright out of his cell. (Maybe Morgan would make that mistake, or Chuck and Morgan on their own, but Chuck and Sarah?) And on top of that, what's the point of having a lockdown situation that allows the people in the quarantined area to get on an elevator and take a trip up to the Buy More home theater room? The payoff with the video, and Sarah getting to clothesline Wheelwright, were just entertaining enough to make me stop rolling my eyes, but only just.
Some other thoughts:
• Looks like my early fears about Morgan being relegated back to Buy Moria were unfounded. This is several episodes in a row now of Morgan doing spy work, and being partnered with Casey, and it continues to work well. (I especially liked Morgan declaring their chemistry as like Ross and Rachel.) "The Magnet" seems as good a nickname as ever for Morgan Guillermo Grimes, international spy, no?
• This week in "Chuck" music: "One Life Stand" by Hot Chip (Chuck's mom shoots him), "The Boogie Monster" by Gnarls Barkley (Jeffster introduce Chuck and Morgan to the Aisle of Terror) and "Dead Hearts" by Stars (the final sequence).
What did everybody else think?

I was kinda shocked at the amount of gore in it.
Go behind the scenes of Chuck's Halloween episode with 'Jeffster'
Get ready for the indomitable spirit of Jeff and Lester (aka Scott Krinsky and Vic Sehay) on tonight's Halloween-themed Chuck, which gives us Robert Englund as a nightmarish scientist, Linda Hamilton returning as Chuck's mom and a Halloween Buy More blast that just might, if we're lucky, include a Jeffster performance.
While Krinsky and Sehay won't say whether we'll hear Jeffster or even when we'll hear them again, "suffice it to say that we're asked to take care of a certain aspect of Halloween for the store," said Sehay.
"We've been given the task of decorating the Buy More for Halloween. Jeff and Lester ... another little mission for them," said Krinsky. "And so we'll have to wait and see what they've come up with. We can't give too much away, obviously."
"And there is—maybe this is too much already—there is yet again an instance where their worlds cross over into the Chuck world. So it's not a purely a separate venture that this task takes on," added Sehay.
Beyond tonight's episode, Krinsky and Sehay aren't about to give away many specifics about what happens with their characters this season. However, they did have some thoughts on the upcoming appearance by Summer Glau, who plays one of the Gretas.
"She was awesome," said Krinsky. "It's good to see her kick some butt. ... It was just, again, really great to have her as a guest star and to work with her."
With Chuck's fabulous array of guest stars, Sehay admits that "to have guest stars that you can feel have acting chops, that's just always exciting."
While they say they don't really know what's around the bend for Jeff and Lester, they are thrilled that the series has been picked up for an extra 11 episodes, which brings their fourth season to a bigger-than-normal episode order at 24.
"Eleven more episodes have been added, so it's going to be real interesting to see where they take our characters," said Krinsky.
"It's, obviously, it's been an absolute thrill ride," said Sehay. "I mean, and it's been an interesting exploration of these two characters for me personally."
"I love when Jeff gets to be involved in the spy storyline without obviously knowing that he's part of that world, [such as] with the couch lock trip in the last episode," added Krinsky. "I find it fun to be in those kinds of storylines ... And it's fun exploring a little bit of our personal life outside of the Buy More."
"Exploration and depth," said Sehay. "I hope if there is an emergence into the spy world, it'll be nice for Lester if it wasn't just him being the eighth person that finds out and then kind of joins the team in the same capacity. ... There's more interest for me in if there's perhaps an emergence in a different, I guess the word is side, a different side for him there in terms of where we go in terms of the spy world." It kind of seems like he's hinting that he wouldn't mind it if Lester became one of the bad guys.
And then, of course there's Jeffster.
"I think that what one of the things that Scott and I talk about once in a while is the exploration of the development of the band and to see more of the backstage shenanigans. Where that might go. That might be an interesting element," said Sehay.
"Certainly more Jeffster is great. And I think that there's a lot of great stories to be mined with Lester and Jeff as we continue on. And hopefully there's a little bit more Jeffster down the road for everyone," added Krinsky.
"Maybe, Scotty, it would be like The Odd Couple, but on the road doing gigs as Jeffster. ... The Odd Couple in the van."
"We would we just live in our van across the country. Have an RV or something," said Krinksy.
"That's what I'm saying. The Odd Couple in the van doing these tours. But I ... I don't know, who would be Felix? Neither of us particularly that organized. I don't know. We have to find different opposites, of which there are many," said Sehay.
And what songs would they like to see Jeffster play, either in the future of Chuck or on Jeffster, the Odd Couple in a Van?
According to Krinsky, "I think some Journey would be great. We haven't done Journey, or maybe some Aerosmith. ... It be fun to let the fans vote or see if what they came up with, and maybe we could rally our producers to go with the fan choice."
"I would like to tackle Susan Boyle's version of I Dreamed a Dream. That's the first thing." He admits that even though he's not a "trained singer, there's a part of me that deep down really loves the challenge of singing a brutally tough song," said Sehay. Or perhaps, "in terms of the spirit of how Lester sings, to take on some kind of crazy rock-opera song like Tommy, or from like a beautiful heartbreaking musical like Next to Normal or Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Something that's like storytelling at its most raw, grand, operatic. So that's kind of the world I want to go into."

Fine by me. :P
She looks more like River there then in more recent roles and pictures. Hmmm, knees are a little strange.

'Chuck' - 'Chuck vs. the First Fight': The name is Dalton. Timothy Dalton
A review of tonight's "Chuck" - the strongest episode of season four - coming up just as soon as I parachute out of a plane on a wild horse...
"Frost here is a master of deception." -Volkoff
So why was "Chuck vs. the First Fight" the best episode of the season so far? Let's run it down:
Timothy Dalton. We're starting here, and we could just as easily end here. Getting Dalton to guest star on this show was a coup, both because he's a great actor, and because he was James freakin' Bond. (And a much better Bond than he gets credit for, since the two movies he was in were awful.)
For a while, it seemed like Dalton was just there for an elaborate in-joke: a former 007 plays a cowardly handler who knows nothing about field work, loves to watch "Alias" and folds at the slightest hint of torture. ("I had my first sexual experience watching 'Lawrence of Arabia'!") And that would have been fine, because Dalton was really funny doing it, embracing the gag beyond the meta level, so that it would be amusing whether or not the man had "The Living Daylights" and "Licence to Kill" on his resume.
(In contrast, all due respect to Brandon Routh, but there were definitely times last season where Shaw scenes were only interesting if you viewed them through the prism of Superman stealing Chuck's special lady friend.)
But in the end, Gregory Tuttle turns out to be Alexei Volkoff. It's one of those twists that you can't really call shocking - I would have understood if Dalton was just there for a one-off gag appearance, but it's also not the least bit surprising that the "Chuck" producers would want their biggest guest star get ever to be this season's big bad - but it was still effectively played by Dalton, and by the stunned Zachary Levi, and I look forward to seeing more Dalton/Volkoff as the season goes along.
Good action. The Chuck-Fu hasn't been very useful to Chuck this season, but that's led to some more interesting fight scenes. "Chuck" fights are usually best when there's a mix of action and comedy, and I enjoyed Chuck and the Ana Gasteyer character having a tweezers vs. dental mirror tiny weapon standoff for a few moments, and then Chuck and Sarah bickering throughout their fight with Gasteyer and her goons at the bank. And speaking of which...
Good comedy. I started off worrying about the whole "first fight" aspect of the title, since not only was Chuck coming off a real emotional roller coaster from last week, but it seemed like it was going to be another one of those storylines where Sarah's being a professional during a mission while Chuck acts like a nincompoop. But then Sarah let herself get agitated by Chuck to the point where she was being just as ridiculous, and the fight at the bank really clicked. The writers have also gotten much better over the years at finding funny Sarah moments, whether it's pairing her with Morgan ("Morgan, please don't touch my chest") or playing off of how out of touch she is with popular culture ("You might as well have posted about our fight on Friendster!").
And, as mentioned above, Timothy Dalton was damn funny.
Real emotional stakes. The "Alias" joke does underline just how much the "Is Chuck's mom a hero or a traitor?" thing evokes the Irina Derevko story, and my patience with all the reversals is definitely growing thin. But at the same time, the Ellie/Mary scene just killed. So well played by Sarah Lancaster and Linda Hamilton, and you understand in that scene - and then again as Chuck is preparing to die in his father's secret basement - how much the Bartowski sibs need for their mom to be a secret good guy whose behavior for the past 20 years has a good explanation. (Because being undercover in an evil organization for 20 years without accomplishing much suggests Frost isn't a very good spy.)
The final moments in the Orion room offers more ambiguity. Mary gives Sarah a tool to cut herself and Chuck free, but she also zaps Chuck with some kind of PSP-sized Intersect that, for now at least, seems to have taken away his ability to flash. He could just be in shock, or need of a reboot, or she could be trying to do what Steven did at the end of season two, and forcing her son out of the spy game before he gets hurt - or before he stops her and Volkoff, because she really is evil (but not a bad mom). I hope we don't get seven more flip-flops between now and the end of the arc, but I do like seeing how much this is hurting Chuck and Ellie, and look forward to seeing what comes next.
Some other thoughts:
• This week in "Chuck" music: "Snake" by Frightened Rabbit (Chuck practices what he's going to say to Sarah, "Ghosts N Stuff" by Deadmau5 (Chuck wakes up on the plane with Tuttle), "We Don't Eat" by James Vince McMorrow (Mary and Ellie talk), "One October Song" by Nico Stai (Volkoff blows up Orion's lab) and Florence and the Machine's "Kiss with a Fist" over the fight at the bank. (Though I should say that while it's an awesome song, and perfect for this kind of fight scene, but "Community" beat them to it by almost a year.)
• This week in "Chuck" pop culture references: beyond the "Alias" hat-tip, there were a whole bunch of little James Bond references. My two favorites were Ana Gasteyer basically playing Rosa Klebb from "From Russia, with Love," and the gag about a plane only having one parachute (which comes up in "Moonraker," among other 007 places).
• I hope that they chose to play music over the Mary/Ellie conversation because Mary was only telling her things that we in the audience already knew and/or weren't important to the larger arc, and not so they could withhold info from us that Ellie and Sarah would now have. "Chuck" isn't that kind of show, nor should it be.
• As mentioned above, Sarah/Morgan pairings are almost always funny, and the Casey/Morgan fight worked as an amusing funhouse mirror to the Chuck/Sarah argument. One question, though: what exactly took Casey and Morgan so long to get into the bank?
• Good to hear Scott Bakula's voice again, and hopefully that pimped-out Mustang will have some kind of awesome Volkoff-stopping power.
What did everybody else think?

But Chuck was preempted by W!

Oh fun! She is so good, I wish she could stay on the show in some capacity.
Her face looked funny. Did she get jaw implants or something?
ETA: Someone claimed she got a nose job. I can't tell, but she didn't look like herself.
I just watched Monday's show last night and I got tickled at Summer not quite being able to stay serious
when Adam was bawling her out and mentioned about working with a former crew. Her eyes gave her away
with that little sparkle of a smile in them.
She has always had a pretty square jaw and the straight hair emphasizes it but her nose does look a little
too perfect. I would have to go back and look at some of her pictures in Firefly to compare though. She
certainly didn't need to do anything.

Agreed. I think that is the case with many in the business who get 'work' done. So many are very blessed in the looks department and getting work done ends up making them not look not very good at all, especially when they get older, which is ironic, because that is what they were trying to avoid.

Yep, it wipes all of their character away. If I were some of those stars I would sue the plastic surgeons for
the horrible jobs some of them do. You just can't fool Mother Nature. They many have their faces wiped clean
and made to look like mannequins but the old neck and hands are dead give aways as well as skin being
thinner. Some of the absolutely worst that I have seen have been on the men and the guys usually age well
for the most part so why they want to do this is beyond me. What I don't understand is they should be able
to see how bad some of the fixes look on others so why would you have it done to yourself.
Just checked some pictures from the Firefly books and Summer definitely had her nose done. I never noticed
in Terminator if she did or not but she is turning herself into the robotic characters she plays and wiping the
expression from her face. What a shame. She is so pretty she didn't need to mess with that gorgeous face.
I've said this before, but I never thought her that attractive until I saw her in person at D*C a few years back. Photographs fail to capture her beauty.
But the minute we saw her on Chuck, we both asked what was wrong with her face. Part of it was her expression and scrunched up mouth, but it looked like she had a nosejob. Thanks for confirming that, Phyll.

I agree, when I saw her the other night I thought something was off too. I don't know if she had anything else
done or not but her skin was really really perfect. It is hard to tell from the Firefly pictures about her jaw line be-
cause most of the pictures in the book have her hair covering her face, but her jaw does look a bit softer and more
rounded back then. Could be from losing the baby fat though. Her nose originally had a little bit of curve to it like a ski
slope and a little crease above the lower portion and was a little wider. May have had a little bump too but hard to tell.
She now has the classic plastic surgeon nose. Ugh!
Does anyone else think that the choosing of Timothy Dalton for the show was not a coincidence? His
looks and height are too close to what Chuck and Ellie look like to be coincidental. I have a feeling a
new Dad might be in the works here.
"It's the giant blond shemale!"

Loving Mr. Dalton on Chuck. IMO he is, by far, the best actor who has guested on the show.

That's kind of like saying Moe is the smartest Stooge. :P But yeah, he's doing a bangup job.
I thought it would have been funnier had Morgan knocked over a box of Legos and stepped on those instead of the tacks. Those farkers hurt like a sumbiatch.
I loved Morgan failing at being John McClane.
Yeah, when he stepped out of the footbath barefoot I knew where they were going. Pretty funny stuff.
Poor Chuck.... :-\
Gotta say, I did not see that coming.
Hardly watching this season - just can't find the time it seems ...

Why am I not surprised. Go on the Chuck home site and compare the shot of him standing with his arms
crossed with the picture of him glaring in the little picture below.
Here's the link:

Yes, his hair is cut shorter but his whole face is narrower as well as his body build from the past to now.
Chuck's in this picture? :haha:
Don't see him.
What a sad state of affairs the main gang is in. I think I wish Sarah hadn't decided to do what she did. But drama must ensue.

I'm just glad we get to see more of Bond, James Bond. Great actor!

I entertained that for a minute but then had to just put it out of my head.
Question: Josh Schwartz keeps warning fans on Twitter not to miss the "last 10 minutes of next week's Chuck" and I'm start to get worried. Please put my mind at ease. —Chris
Ausiello: Would it help if I had Schwartz offer up a one-word description of the episode's much-buzzed-about final act? No? Too bad. I already asked him. And the word is... Goosebumps! Last one to post a theory in the comments section has to buy me a Snapple six-pack.

Also last night villainess (is that a word?) was HAWT!
Key plot point:
Chuck & Sarah - Belly Dance. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0owjNn0Ths#ws)
The episode would have made no sense at all without that very important plot element. In fact, it was so well acted that you don't even need sound to watch that bit with sound.
"Winds of Change"! :headbang:
That was a hoot!
Had to laugh (whimper) at the evil plan, though -- you mean flooding the market with a trillion (fake) bucks will devalue the dollar and hurt the US? Has she talked to Bernanke about this?
I wonder if any leftists picked up on that.

Ms Brandt is a loverly lady .
She's great in Spartacus .
OK, THAT was a different episode. Did Joshua Gomez narrate? It didn't sound like him.
I thought Ellie's comment about not having fun at the in-laws was a bit abrupt. I didn't expect that from her.
You really got to see a different side to Sarah. She seemed a lot less sweet and more laid back.
PS. Adam has a new pic up on his IMDb profile. No more Jayne! http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000284/ (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000284/)
I like Cats!
Have?... What do you mean have!?!
:haha:
I have to air this. If no one upstairs in the Buy More was going to feel those explosions, I was going to lose all credibility with the show. Thank God the writers had Lester mention something (not that anyone was going to pay attention to him, but still).
The only other thing that bothers me is the Subway Breakfast Sandwich product placement. Not once, but twice. I can deal with Subway being a part of Chuck ~ but the ad was IN the script. It's as bad as giving an recycling factoid during Earth Week, which is coming, yay!
The new reveal at the end should be interesting.
I like it when Chuck pimps the Sienna. Very subtle.
Those are so subtle I don't catch them. :P
It's one thing to wear a t-shirt or drink a name brand beverage, but blatant advertising, no matter how cool Mark Christopher Lawrence is, is distracting and ruins the show. I don't know, maybe I'm just too picky. It's not like we all don't eat at Subway from time to time, and it does make it real. I guess I felt too much Subway bombardment last night.
Someone at TV Squad mentioned too many BM jokes but thought the grunt standoff between Casey and Kevin Bacon (the pig) was the best ever. I think I missed it as I was painting and listening and watching as I could.

Things are gonna have to change on the walls of NCIS, too, but they've already filmed the finale I'm sure.
I'm not surprised at what happened. I thought
there was going to be a sniper and Mary was going to get shot. The fear in Zac's voice was so scary when Sarah fell in his arms! The only other shocking thing was Ellie kissing Jeff. Who knew Jeff was such a sap. Lester needs help.
