This is coming soon on HBO. A screener fell off one of the internets and I was able to pick it up.
I know nothing of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, but the wife loved it. She was apprehensive at first, as they sexed it up a bit. Like Cinemax after hours. Lots of adult language and situations. T&A, that sort of thing. Heavy boinking. Anyway, Ann said they nailed the characters, the scenery, everything. She kept telling me everything that happens later on and who this is and what they do, so that was annoying. All in all, she loved it.
I love Trueblood! They are doing a really good job following the books by Charlaine Harris. In the books, it was just discussed that Jason was a horny dog instead of showing you. Then again, the last episode kinda made up for all of the horny dog stuff. Lol--the doctor approaching him with the needle made one of my friends cringe and curl himself into a protective position.
I just luuuuuurve Eric. Vikings....mmmmmmmmmmm...and he floats too!
Ann really likes what they've done. They are very true to the characters and about half of the story but different enough so that it isn't like HBO is reading the books to the audience. She says that the bit with the V never happened in the books but it sounds like something that would Jason would do.
BTW, Lady Albra finally got her ring.
Way to go Lady Albra!
Yes..the V is something that Jason would totally do. I was watching it with a friend and he was cringing and curling up when the doctor came out with the needle. lol.
Tara is very different too.
Sam has yet to turn into a dog though.
I am crushing on Eric the Vampire.
Lady Albra says that she needs to catch up with you.
The wife says she didn't care for the actor playing Eric at first, but she is warming to him. I don't know how I should take that...
Yes Albra does.
Eric! <snicker> The Eric in the book is much more hunkier. Eric in the book has a great deal of energy and is very unvamp like..sense of humor...ect. I do like this Eric though, he was snickering at the end.
I am ADDICTED to this damn show. I can't even give you a good reason why. It just sucked me in and is keeping me there.
Wait until Bubba shows up. Heh.
Bubba..is lol...Bubba! :haha:
Read the books.
Jason is an idiot.

I'm afraid I might have to give up my Man card and read these as well. The show is a hoot and a half and I know the books are very different, but this is rapidly becoming one of my favorite shows.

Reading these books will help you get in touch with your inner x chromosome
They are actually following the books. Yeah they change and add a bit..but they are still following Charlaine Harris's basic premises.
ARGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
WHY DO THEY END THE EPISODE LIKE THAT?!?!?!?!
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!

Jason is still an idiot.
I thought the whole Sookie/Bill scene was done much better in the book than the show.
Nekkid Sam....lol.
Ann said she doesn't like them turning Jason into an addict. She said Jason was a womanizer and a dufus, but not an addict.
Yup. I agree. Also, Jason was stupid ,thoughtless, and self absorbed, but he was never really mean.

I watched the first ep last night .
Loved it .
When did Ms Paquin get all sexy ?
And I *love* Tara .

I was amused by Vampire Bill's insisting that Sookie not blab about their "weaknesses" .
Seems pretty hypocritical for the vamps to have all those powers that they can unleash at any time while the meatbags are supposed to just accept their inferiority with happy shiny meaky goodness .

I'm a bartender too !
However , our staff ain't this good looking .
*smoooooooooooches* Morning, Admiral!
Beware....you'll get ADDICTED to this show!
I just saw an ep last nite her at the hotel. Very intruiging. The predjudices against vamps could be stand ins for any sort of pc prejudice, although they seem wellbfounded.

I'm finding the vampires to be extremely unsympathetic .
I thought for sure it was Sookie in that bathtub....BAD, bad Eric!

So did I. It is one of the hazards of being married to someone who has read the books and can't just :wall: STFU.
In the books, it was Eric who killed Long Shadow, and he had to pay restitution to Long Shadows maker...lol. I too, knew Sam was the collie. Except Sam kept on staring so sookie had to turn her back around.
Lol..I love replying to myself...
...season finale tonight.
Looks like they have an opening for a fry cook at Sam's... ::)
...That isn't a surprise to me!

Stoopid S01 DVD's have been on pre-order from Amazon since LAST YEAR! Supposedly they have a date for release now (May 19th), unless they change it again. :soapbox:

He's up for the role of Thor in the movie of the same name. And they want his dad to play Odin.

I think that is a good date, as Charlaine Harris has a new Sookie book out in May and the DVDs will act as a lead-in for season two.

Reminder: the second season starts Sunday night. Many cable companies are having a 'free HBO' weekend to get you hooked.
Free HBO/Max this weekend, so we're watching True Blood on demand. Not sure what to think of it.

You shoulda watched the 1st season. AWESOME!
Got through whole first season except we set the finale on the sleep timer and we fell asleep before it ended (we had already watched 2 episodes trying to fall asleep).
It's interesting; reminds me of over-the-top Nip/Tuck.
So there was a new ep last night , right ?
Any good ?

The last five minutes or so were very good. And well lit. >:D
You'd be pleased with it. Vastly different from the book though.
Haven't read any of the books , so I'm cool with what ever deviations Mr Ball has made .
Up to and including having Lafayette still around .
( not hopeful on that score - but on Wiki he wasn't on the deceased character list - yet )
So. They really went there last night with both Maryann's shenanigans Bill's flashback. I thought maybe I'd accidentally ordered pr0n.
That being said, I love how well the actor portrays Jason as a bumbling, yet ultimately good intentioned idiot. Though even he should suspect 'God told me to give you a BJ'.
And Jessica and Hoyt are just the cutest thing ever!
Added a spoiler tag 'cause I won't be watching this until the DVD's come out. :) - Spooky
Season 4 brings us Sheriff Buck as Grandpa Stackhouse, Lafayette in his Mr. T starter kit, and MMA Tara. And that's just the first half hour.
I'll be watching it on my lunch break.
Lezbionic Tara. Lithgow's crazy daughter from Dexter.
This is my fairy godmother, Lloyd. :spitdrink:

While I still enjoy watching it, I am not that excited to see the new episodes as soon as they are on. Something is missing.
I am living vicariously thru this thread and recaps from hbo.com. I'm also watching Six Feet Under so that's enough Alan Ball drama for the moment! :seesaw:

Kind of like Dexter after John Lithgow, it is bound to be a letdown.
Inside the Episodes are pretty good. I cannot beLIEVE what is going on with Jason. And I even previously read his backstory (musta forgot). That is some MESSED UP gao se. The new Eric is kinda interesting but it is SO not going to last... Funny scene with Sookie and Eric
when she says, "You just killed my fairy godmother!" Eric smiles innocently and says, "Sorry."
And poor Pam! I do not agree with Alan Ball who was saying it was funny what was happening to Pam (he said "funny but terrifying"). Did he SEE the look on Lafayette's face?! That was the worst.
Fiona Shaw is as good as Michelle Forbes was...great addition to the cast.

Are you dissing my girl Julia Stiles?
j/k I haven't watched S5 ~ not sure if I'm going to, as much as I like Julia. How
can it be better than seasons 1-4.
S5 was a cleansing of the palate.
OK, I watched True Blood via hbo.com and recaps and inside the episode's this season cause I don't have access to HBO, which wasn't a bad way to watch. I think for the most part, TB has gotten stupid but it has its moments. I can say the same of Ball's other show, Six Feet Under, whose fourth season has some of THE MOST STUPID INSENSITIVE CHARACTER UN-BUILDING I have ever seen. I'd almost consider dropping it as it's filled with the unnecessary "I have to make a statement here" social commentary and will dig at the Bush Administration every other episode. I just wish I didn't like watching the actors so much.
I guess that would be the same for TB. I wasn't completely shocked at what happened at the end of this year's finale ~ I loooooooooved seeing the graveyard "come alive" including
seeing Gran again ~ but sad for Sookie and Lafayette as they have both lost someone dear to them (for Laffy, both of them).
You know how at the end of season 3 they causally mention that the new waitress is a Wiccan and the theme of this season was Witches?
And you know how Terry's friend shows up and Terry says "I thought you were dead!"
The next season will deal with the undead. Not the flesh-eating type, but dead folk walking around.
Tara may not be as dead as she appears
.
I only watched the first three eps. I'll have to "acquire" the complete season and do a marathon some weekend.
