Title: True Blood
Post by: TinkTanker on August 05, 2008, 07:28:10 PM
This is coming soon on HBO. A screener fell off one of the internets and I was able to pick it up.

I know nothing of the Sookie Stackhouse books by Charlaine Harris, but the wife loved it. She was apprehensive at first, as they sexed it up a bit. Like Cinemax after hours. Lots of adult language and situations. T&A, that sort of thing. Heavy boinking. Anyway, Ann said they nailed the characters, the scenery, everything. She kept telling me everything that happens later on and who this is and what they do, so that was annoying. All in all, she loved it.

I love Trueblood! They are doing a really good job following the books by Charlaine Harris. In the books, it was just discussed that Jason was a horny dog instead of showing you. Then again, the last episode kinda made up for all of the horny dog stuff. Lol--the doctor approaching him with the needle made one of my friends cringe and curl himself into a protective position.

I just luuuuuurve Eric. Vikings....mmmmmmmmmmm...and he floats too!

Ann really likes what they've done. They are very true to the characters and about half of the story but different enough so that it isn't like HBO is reading the books to the audience. She says that the bit with the V never happened in the books but it sounds like something that would Jason would do.

BTW, Lady Albra finally got her ring.

Way to go Lady Albra!

Yes..the V is something that Jason would totally do. I was watching it with a friend and he was cringing and curling up when the doctor came out with the needle. lol.

Tara is very different too.

Sam has yet to turn into a dog though.

I am crushing on Eric the Vampire.

Lady Albra says that she needs to catch up with you.

The wife says she didn't care for the actor playing Eric at first, but she is warming to him. I don't know how I should take that...
Title: Re: True Blood
Post by: Skipup on October 01, 2008, 06:32:35 PM
Yes Albra does.

Eric! <snicker> The Eric in the book is much more hunkier. Eric in the book has a great deal of energy and is very unvamp like..sense of humor...ect. I do like this Eric though, he was snickering at the end.

When did Ms Paquin get all sexy ?

And I *love* Tara .

I was amused by Vampire Bill's insisting that Sookie not blab about their "weaknesses" .
Seems pretty hypocritical for the vamps to have all those powers that they can unleash at any time while the meatbags are supposed to just accept their inferiority with happy shiny meaky goodness .

I think that is a good date, as Charlaine Harris has a new Sookie book out in May and the DVDs will act as a lead-in for season two.

That being said, I love how well the actor portrays Jason as a bumbling, yet ultimately good intentioned idiot.  Though even he should suspect 'God told me to give you a BJ'.

Inside the Episodes are pretty good. I cannot beLIEVE what is going on with Jason. And I even previously read his backstory (musta forgot). That is some MESSED UP gao se. The new Eric is kinda interesting but it is SO not going to last...  Funny scene with Sookie and Eric
when she says, "You just killed my fairy godmother!" Eric smiles innocently and says, "Sorry."
And poor Pam! I do not agree with Alan Ball who was saying it was funny what was happening to Pam (he said "funny but terrifying"). Did he SEE the look on Lafayette's face?! That was the worst.

Fiona Shaw is as good as Michelle Forbes was...great addition to the cast.

OK, I watched True Blood via hbo.com and recaps and inside the episode's this season cause I don't have access to HBO, which wasn't a bad way to watch. I think for the most part, TB has gotten stupid but it has its moments. I can say the same of Ball's other show, Six Feet Under, whose fourth season has some of THE MOST STUPID INSENSITIVE CHARACTER UN-BUILDING I have ever seen. I'd almost consider dropping it as it's filled with the unnecessary "I have to make a statement here" social commentary and will dig at the Bush Administration every other episode. I just wish I didn't like watching the actors so much.

I guess that would be the same for TB. I wasn't completely shocked at what happened at the end of this year's finale ~ I loooooooooved seeing the graveyard "come alive" including
seeing Gran again ~ but sad for Sookie and Lafayette as they have both lost someone dear to them (for Laffy, both of them).
