Title: Chuck vs the Finale/Footlong

This is too darn cute an idea!! Kills many birds with one stone. Subway is just down the corner, and that saves me one less thing to try to make to make everyone happy. And this is something the girls can go do on their own!

Yay!

I'd already emailed NBC and now I will be eating a Foot Long on Monday.

The last time I bought one, I asked if I could have the 'fixin's on the side, since my hubby didn't like all the 'good stuff' and I did. They gave me two huge salad containers of everything but the cucumbers and hot peppers! I had enough stuff to make my sandwich (I can do a 1/4 at a sitting), and a salad the next day! Oh, I also get double meat!

Great deal.

I think I'll get that tomorrow for us...wish is was open now. Had a tummy bug the last two days, and I think it's past...I'm starving now. heh.

QuoteOn April 27th be sure to BUY A $5 FOOTLONG from Subway and if possible, drop a note in the comment box at the franchise letting them know you're participating in the Finale and Footlong campaign to save NBC's Chuck, of which Subway is a product placement sponsor.

Wouldn't hurt to start early, too! Thanks!

"As I sit and wait for news of our collective fates to be handed down, I am nothing short of amazed to see the amount, and type, of support that we are receiving from our tried and true fans out there. The 'Finale and Footlong' campaign is an absolutely spot on idea, and best way for you to show NBC exactly how you feel. It's like they say, money talks. By supporting one of our major advertisers, and utilizing the opportunity to fill their suggestion boxes with your passionate thoughts, you will be making your feelings known in a real and powerful way. I'll be right there with you, ordering a Turkey Breast on wheat with all the fixins. That is of course until they offer the Bartowski special. ;)

Dang, I some how erased everything!

Okay, just was gonna note that I read a funny article about how a show like Chuck just begs for 'product placement'. Since so many people DVR and zip past commercials, having the 'ads' play out in the show is a must.

Think of all the stuff like a 'Buy More' would sell...and all the snack foods and geek drinks in the break room, and Big Mike could have his own niche with the goodies. Healthier stuff? Sis and Awesome. Cars? All the bad guys. Car cleaners? Casey lovingly waxing and polishing his baby. hehe. Heck, Comic Con even gets advertised every time we see Chuck's room, and Tron...so even Disney should be tossing them a few bucks.

I wouldn't mind seeing 'ads' like that.

Yep, Subway tonight.

Will $5 footlongs and Twitter be the salvation of Chuck?

Can a Twitter campaign and pointing people to buy a sub at Subway on Monday save Chuck?  Chuck executive producer and co-creator Josh Schwartz hopes so.  From the LA Times Show Tracker:

In an interview at the National Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, Schwartz said he had a good meeting with NBC about "Chuck's" future, but he would not speculate on whether the show would survive. NBC, which is stripping Jay Leno across the 10 p.m. time period five nights a week, does not have a lot of real estate for shows like Schwartz's that are on the bubble.

In the meantime, "Chuck" fans are taking matters into their own hands. According to Schwartz, there is a push on the Internet to get fans to go to Subway on Monday before the season finale to buy sandwiches in support of the show. Why Subway? Because the sandwich shop was featured prominently in a recent episode. So much for product placement turning off viewers. "It shows a real sophistication on the part of the viewer," Schwartz said.

While I am a huge fan of the show, and understand that people want to do whatever they can to feel like they're making a difference, fan campaigns don't usually work out.  The only notable recent exception is Jericho, and the results of that were such that I can't imagine any network being moved by a fan campaign anytime soon.  A million people could descend on Subway on Monday.  Heck, I might myself.  But I dont think it will make a difference.

40,000 of you showing up in the next 5 days to buy the Honda Insight that Chuck's own Zachary Levi was the pitchman for during Monday's episode of Chuck on the other hand...

Leno said some time ago he was retiring from the Tonight Show, so NBC gave it to Conan O'Brien. Later, Leno let it be known that although he was retiring from the Tonight Show, he still wanted to do a talk show like the Tonight Show. ABC and Fox expressed interest in giving him a show to compete with the Tonight Show with O'Brien and Letterman's show and NBC was pretty much backed into a corner and let Leno have five hours a week of prime time to keep him from hurting the Tonight Show.

Bad business decision, IMHO.

On one hand, it forces NBC to weed out its best shows; on the other, Leno gets an extended vacation into living rooms where Life should be.

Does anybody CARE?

I am forcing myself to watch Heroes. Heroes was kind of like when you are stoned and order a hugeass pizza and it takes forever to get here and once it finally does get there it is great but about 3/4 the way through it you go jeez did I really need to do this and you keep going because you have so much invested in it and there really isn't that much more left and then you can be done with it but then that last bit you realize that this is really not good at all and hasn't been since forever and it can't get much worse, really, can it so you go ahead and finish but know you might start puking any time now and you just start begging for it to all end. Heroes is like that, but with lame plots.

I don't think that even NBC thinks that the whole Leno thing is a good idea. I don't know how long their contract is, but I bet they will be trying to get out of it before all is said and done.

Remember several years back when ABC had "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" on like five or six hours a week and then people quit watching all at once and ABC had to scramble to come up with programming? I think this is going to happen to NBC next year. People will stay away in droves.

As far as pleas to save TV shows go, stars working behind the counter at Subway has to count as one of the less obvious ones. But that's exactly what Chuck's Zachary Levi did recently.

Trying to drum up support for a third season of NBC's Chuck, Levi and fellow star Adam Baldwin ended up treating 400 British convention goers to lunch at a local Subway this weekend. UK blog End of Show was there to eat... I mean, report:

Fan Wendy Farrington had the unique idea of getting fans to follow the money and show the sandwich franchise Subway that the show they were sponsoring had an audience. She presented the idea to Zachary Levi who plays the titular character Chuck Bartowski at Starfury conventions T1 event in Birmingham, UK. Levi and Adam Baldwin (Casey) then asked the hundreds of con attendees to follow them on en masse to the local Subway.

Levi, who described the show as "On the good side of the bubble", even got behind the counter and helped out the besieged staff of the outlet in the Birmingham NEC exhibition centre, staying until the very last fan was served.

On the one hand, that's very generous of Levi and Baldwin. On the other, they'd really better hope that the show gets picked up for another season if they're going to keep pulling stunts like that in future; $5 footlongs may seem like a bargain at first, but not when you're buying 400 of them at a time.

Chuck's season finale airs on NBC tonight at 8pm.

On the other, they'd really better hope that the show gets picked up for another season if they're going to keep pulling stunts like that in future; $5 footlongs may seem like a bargain at first, but not when you're buying 400 of them at a thyme.

Chuck's season finale airs on NBC tonight at 8pm.

Jared should guest star as a Fulcrum agent .

I always make a joke at fast food places that I want to be served by the 'hungry' worker, then you know your sandwich, taco or whatever is going to be big....can you imagine what the size of the sandwiches Adam made would be? That man loves to eat!

Don't DEVOUR the thing, Admiral.

I had a BLT and bought a tuna (which wasn't $5, but one of my faves).

I don't want to study for finals; I want a Chuck marathon.

I would have gotten ham but we just bought a pound at the store. I had never had the meatball sub. Wasn't bad.

But the store was out of pickles! How do you run out of pickles?! Luckily, there were hamburger dills in the fridge...!

We had ordered one of the Pizza Hut specials (two kinds of pasta, medium one topping pizza and breadsticks) for lunch...and since they didn't have a driver to deliver, they cut $3 off the total and threw in an extra order of bread sticks. So....we didn't 'need' dinner.

The show WAS awesome though....they HAVE to 'continue'.
wasn't that a 'matrix meets River' feel? Awesomeness "Chuck me!" Adam and his cigars!
Oh, and for Tabin...Jessi has missed the last 4 eps now, so we are going to have a marathon when she comes home this weekend. I just hope we can find all four eps on a 'glitch free' site.

I heard from someone involved with the show and he said that he knows nothing but linked the Nikki Finke article saying it looked good for renewal.

I love that Adam is a real fans of this 'kid'...he says he's so talented it's insane. He compared him to a young Dick Van Dyke in the multi-talented department.

I think too many people have mistaken his silliness about Adam's popularity to be jealousy...I believe he's just as in awe of Adam's long career as most people who realize that too many young people fall by the wayside when they start so young. Adam is a true example of the 'Hollywood' success story. Who wouldn't want to emulate or aspire to that? I mentioned to Adam that I hope Zack doesn't fall into the "stupid Hollywood young star" thing...and he said, 'naw, this kid's got a good head on his shoulders'. Made me happy.

I loved him in Less Than Perfect. Did you ever see that?

I can definitely see the Dick Van Dyke. Shiny thoughts for Zach.

Nope, never seen/nor heard of him before "Chuck". I sure hope we get more of these folks. My only wish would be they'd have let Sarah have her accent. "Spies" can be international....
