Title: Article about renewals (among others Chuck, Dollhouse, T:TSCC)

FOX
Despite microscopic numbers for Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, renewal is still possible. Whedon has a small but loyal cult of fans, which can translate into big DVD sales and merchandising deals for the network. One route to survival could be sharing the series with a cable network (Sci-Fi?) or DirecTV. But Fox will foreclose on Dollhouse if it can't make money. "It's going to have to make financial sense for us," says one network insider. The outlook for Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is even less promising.

NBC
NBC is in the throes of another tough season and will have their pick of shows to replace. Chuck, Law & Order and Medium will have to fight for whatever primetime real estate is left after Jay Leno takes over 10 p.m. every night. "We're in a much different position with Jay coming onto the schedule," says NBC's scheduling chief Mitch Metcalf. "We have fewer spots." Kath & Kim, Knight Rider and Life are almost certain goners. The future of My Name Is Earl, which has been syndicated to local TV stations for next season, is also up in the air. NBC will want it back only if it can agree on a cheaper license fee with the show's studio. And while Friday Night Lights was a success for DirecTV, ratings are still low on NBC. DirecTV will likely have to pick up more of the costs for it to return. "An extension of the deal has to work for both sides," says Metcalf.

Other shows, other networks discussed in TFA.

I think they will eventually regret giving away the 10:00 slot. I hope like heck Chuck isn't lost in the
shuffle. That would be a crime.

I have Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Serenity and Dr. H. on DVD. Right now, I don't think I would buy Dollhouse.

I have two shows that I look forward to watching... TWO. And, of course, they're directly opposite each other (House; Chuck).

Though the wife is getting me hooked a bit on Life ...

Apparently being a knuckle-dragger, I only like shows with one syllable titles.  Well, except Lost.

Lost has really picked up the pace and gone full bore with the crazy since ABC told them how long they would be on. No more hour long explanations of how Jack got his tats, things mean things now.

They need to move Chuck so that it is NOT opposite House...and I'm sure it's numbers would improve. I hate having to make that decision.

I love "Life" too...that one needs to stay! I think they should have written the female lead's pregnancy into the storyline and kept them working together. That might be why/if they are losing momentum. Right now, it's working with them doing the phone convos and using her being gone as a bit of the myth-arch.

Yes, Chuck was doing better I think before House was moved. Hmmm, maybe Fox is trying to tank all
of our Firefly crews new shows so they can bring back Firefly since they are disappointed with Dollhouse.

What?!!!! Okay, I can dream. :)

I'm going to watch tonight, because it the first episode not dictated by Fox (according to several Joss interviews), so I am hoping I see more... Jossy Stuff.

I'll let you know in a day or two when I get around to watching it. It isn't high on my list of priorities these days.

Annoying tech dude is annoying. Joss loves his annoying nerds, so we endure or we lose interest.

I don't mind Topher over much .

I like Echo's handler and Victor is my favourite "doll" .

The English chick is kewl too .
( like Sierra but it's more to do with her exotic hawtness than actual character )

Alpha is interesting .

However - the "villains" have been lame as have Echo's situations and malfunctions .

And the dialogue ( which is why we're sort of watching ? ) is very un-Jossian .

Too lazy to check, but did Tim also write "Shindig"? There was a line in there that really TRIED to sound like Mal...nearly a quote. *sigh*

We had a movie night last night so I missed Sarah Connor , Dollhouse and BSG .

( we watched "Outlander" - surprisingly good - and "My Name is Bruce" - awesome , but I'm a Campbellite )

House is on Mondays because of American Idol taking its Tuesday slot. I forget where they put it in years past (Wed?) and it will probably stay on Mondays so Fox can pimp a new show after Idol. House after Idol was always a good time. Unfortunately at this stage of the game Idol is 2 hours.

American Idol is the devil. And it has me in it spell.

The landscape of NBC is definitely changing, and not for the better. If NBC decides to keep Life, they can't move it to 8pm, it's just too grisly. It's bad enough it's on at 9. Medium is going to have to settle for a 9pm slot, it is not as Ghost Whisperer-friendly.

The only reason Jay Leno will be on at 10 is to ease the transition to Conan.

It's this kind of stuff that keeps cable TV shows at the top.

Shindig was written by Jane.

House and Bones used to be paired together on Wed. That was a good pairing and timeslot for both of them.

WTF?? Are they gonna show Leno EVERY NIGHT at 10??  Are they on crack??  What a complete waste of airthyme.  Late night shows are SUPPOSE to be on LATE NIGHT.

So frakkin frustrating.  I swear, if they cancel Chuck or Life, I will never watch NBC again.  EVER.  I'm so sick of the networks screwing up my shows.

~~Okay, rant over.

I am so messed up with what I've missed.

I know I'm behind on a bunch, but then, I think some shows ran reruns, and others were preempted....*ugh*

Gotta catch up on House, Bones, Chuck, Life, The Mentalist, Lie to me....what else? T:TSCC? Dollhouse? Don't know if I missed them or not....tonight, right?

I think I'm up to date on Saving Grace...oh, and Survivor wasn't on this week. I'm also caught up on Desperate Housewives.

After years of nothin' I finally like shows and I'm waiting for the ax to fall.

Sadly, I'm caught up on EVERYTHING, so my DVR has no good shows on it.  I ordered Changling from On Demand.  Great movie.

The only shows I need/wanna watch are online, and Gingi's lappy is old an unpredictable. I'd have to sit in here, and that's just not doable for the length of a movie/show. *pout*
