EXCLUSIVE

There's still hope, Browncoats!

The cast of "Firefly" revealed this weekend that there has been talk of an animated version of the short-lived sci-fi cult classic that went off the air 10 years ago.

The cast reunited this weekend at New York's Comic Con to preview their Science Channel 10th anniversary special "Browncoats Unite," which airs Nov. 11.

On the panel, "Firefly" star Nathan Fillion told a room packed with fans, "If we're dreaming, tell me what you think about this: 'Firefly' the animated series."

After the panel, his "Firefly" co-star Sean Maher told The Post, "I know somebody who is actually trying to get that done, who has approached Joss [Whedon, the creator] about it. He used to work with Guillermo del Toro."

CAPTAIN: Nathan Fillion

Del Toro produced the critically acclaimed movie "Pan's Labyrinth," which combined live action with animatronics and CGI effects, as well as cartoon films "Puss in Boots" and "Kung Fu Panda."

"Firefly" only ran for one season on Fox in 2002, but fan reaction was so great after the cancelation that a movie continuation called "Serenity" was made in 2005.

"I think there's less face to be lost in an animated series,"
Fillion says. "I think if there was going to be a second movie, it would have happened by now. That was eight years ago."

UGH!!  Not for me but I guess there are a lot out there that would like it.  Cartoons just don't do it for me.
I was invested in the warm bodies that made the show what it was, I can't relate emotionally to a cartoon.
Lost that when I was a kid.
