Title: D&D Next
Post by: Eric on June 12, 2012, 04:15:50 PM
On May 24th, Wizards of the Coast released an early playtest version of their next iteration of D&D, unofficially labled "D&D  Next".

What you may find interesting is that before an official release (printing?) they want the players to let them know what's good or bad and make suggestions.  If you're a D&D player who's interested in having a part in the next D&D, or just testing what's there, go here and register to download for free:  http://dndnext.com (http://dndnext.com)

Also, from Geekosystem:  D&D Next and Why it is Your Duty to Play it (http://www.geekosystem.com/why-you-should-play-dd-next/)

The old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon as a real D&D session:

Wizards of the Coast have now re-released the original AD&D books (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/product.aspx?x=dnd/products/dndacc/02410000), nearly exactly as they were originally. I believe one of my brothers still has the books, though we tended to play vanilla D&D the most (along with Star Frontiers, Gangbusters and anything else we could afford).  It was still a good book for references and ideas.

Penny-arcade has a very interesting look (http://penny-arcade.com/report/editorial-article/what-we-can-learn-from-the-re-issued-first-edition-advanced-dungeons-and-dr) at them and does some comparison at to the modern D&D.

Coincidentally, here's Penny-Arcade's comic strip (http://penny-arcade.com/comic/2012/08/01) for today, which refers to the video game "Orcs Must Die" but could well work for D&D too:

Well, this lamp (http://www.etsy.com/listing/94957385/d20-torch-lamp-in-stained-glass) is pretty spiffy (for $318):

They have a bunch more die-inspired designs here:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/DiceyDecor?ref=seller_info_count (http://www.etsy.com/shop/DiceyDecor?ref=seller_info_count)
