Aw, they have two kids. Love the name: Sophia Rose. Very pretty.

It's a personal decision, really, though it's a lot better to come out now than it was back in the day. Although this is not indicative of Sean at all, the problem I have is when they also preach the intolerance that they're so desperately trying to squash (i.e., the Chuckhole that trashed Bristol Palin or Ryan Murphy, creator of Glee).

OT: There was an article on BH regarding conservatives having more in common with gays that you think. Excellent article. http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/pcourrielche/2011/09/21/how-hollywood-conservatives-are-gay/ (http://bighollywood.breitbart.com/pcourrielche/2011/09/21/how-hollywood-conservatives-are-gay/)

Kaylee said, "Well twixt my nethers! I need to stock up on batteries now."

I question the timing.

Morena tweeted to Sean "I behind you" (meaning "I'm behind you"). It was so hard not to make a snarky comment.

I thought everyone knew he was gay.  Adam even outed him on the OB early on although many might not
have picked up on it. There was a couple on the board in the early days that posted a lot and she had a
big crush on Sean. So much so that Adam finally told her he didn't go that way.  I mentioned way back when
before Adam verified that I heard he was gay but of course with all the fans back then ohing and ahing over
him I was kind of trampled with "You can't know that"!!!

I'd suspect that coming out as a conservative is a braver thing to do in Hollywood than this, but que sera sera.

I'd suspect you're right .

If some dude says "I'm not working with that rightwing nutjob." , people will nod their heads knowingly and move on .

Drop  "gay" into the sentence and we have a firestorm .
( heck , Muslim , Jew ,  black -  any non-WASP really , will provoke similar reactions )

That said - let me tell you how hard it is for a straight , white , Christian male to succeed in our society , it's positively awful ... always bein' kept down by the man ....

;)

I was just reading the thread on Whedonesque about this and I'm really surprised at how many regulars
didn't know this.  I didn't think it was a big secret at all. Huh.

I didn't really know, but it doesn't surprise me. It's his business, whether he wants to talk about it or not.

OT: Steinem won! Playboy Club cancelled.

I did think it a little unusual Sean came out a week into the series. Not calling it a publicity stunt, but I thought the timing a little odd.

Eh, it fit in with his character and I guess for him he was ready. I don't read that much into it. He just needs to be careful that he's not used for a fricking pawn for the LBGT community.

I just read an article posted on Whedonesque that was put up a few days ago where he talks about it and
how he hid it from cast members or so he thought.  All those years he spent trying to hide something that
no one was surprised about. That's the really sad part. Most people did know.

I agree. My sister Carol and her friend attended the Serenity Premiere and after party with me. They went to say hi to Sean because he was their favorite and they had a huge crush. I'm not sure what or how he greeted them but their gaydar went off immediately and walked away heartbroken. I still remember my sis telling me and the look on her face.

Yes, it was kind of obvious when he came on panels. He had the mannerisms many young gay men have.
Women are usually pretty astute about picking up on this.

Well, I'm late to this party, but I'll chime in. I remember it being discussed on the OB. I figured he was. Then, as Rosie stated, even with the beautiful 'date' on his arm for the Premiere, it was very obvious meeting him in person...but then, it was also obvious seeing on the panel in '04...so, yeah, I thought everyone knew. Anyone who follows him on Twitter and see's his messages about his kids with no mention of a wife/girlfriend, and the photo he had for the 'no hate' campaign (even tho it's also got Jewel in it), just verified it.

I remember in the early days there was a hottie thread for him on the OB but that faded quickly. There was
a couple over there and the wife thought he was just as sexy as can be. I think Adam thought it had gone on long
enough and she was going to be very disappointed when she found out he was gay so Adam let the cat out of the
bag years ago. I forget how he phrased it now but I was always surprised no one really picked up on his comment
at the time. She didn't even comment on it and I know Adam didn't want to say anymore so it was dropped.
