Ann said she's done with House. She didn't particularly like Amber, but she liked Watson, er Wilson.

And who said House didn't have a heart?

I believe I mentioned that my sister got me watching House while our power was out.  I've been recording/watching the reruns on USA.  I like the show, but it's not very realistic.  Every episode is basically the same plot.  Patient comes in with one symptom, develops another and {pop vicodan} another and another.  Doctors' argue (I realize it's suppose to be a teaching hospital and they are House's "students") over diagnosis.  Give treatment.  {pop more vicodan}  Give another treatment.  And another treatment.  So either these docs have no clue what they are doing or they are miraculously seeing every strange case in the US.  I still like the show!  Just goes to show you that it does not have to be spot-on realistic to be enjoyable.  (In other words, I don't mind that there are mountains in Florida or potholes the "size of a Cadillac Escalade").

Now, it's season 5, right?  I have a LOT of catching up to do and stupid USA network is skipping eps and showing them out of order!!  Ah, well, I'll catch up eventually.  I didn't start watching SG-1 until the fourth season and I caught up rather quickly.

I can't watch it for that reason ( I stopped after season 2). If I cared for any of the other characters, besides House, I might watch it for the continuing side stories, but I just don't care.

Now if these were his other Dr.'s then I might change my tune...

I think it's his specialty, sort of like going to see an expert in neurosurgery, or whatever.

I agree about it being the same plot, basically.  But the dialog isn't (always). ;)

Great pic!  Judging by how skinny "Dr. Kellar' is, this was not taken during Firefly's filming!  (As we all know, she gained weight for the role, now THAT'S dedication!)

I was watching several eps last night (from seasons 3 & 4) and laughing my butt off!  The eps where he's trying to find replacements for his team are just hilarious.

There's an excellent episode, I ~think~ from the season before last, which deals with abortion and has an operation on the fetus in-the-womb.  What happens was very touching... and that it was based on a real happening was simply amazing.

I haven't been quite as hot on the House experience since the team broke up... but then, they had to do something to mix it up.
The last two episodes from last season were very good, though -- dealing with Wilson's girlfriend.

Maybe they'll call it After-H*O*U*S*E?

;)

His character came off as quirky for me in the first episode or two, though it seems to have matured quickly as-of the latest ep.  I guess I'll just have to (happily) wait for more.

Dr. Wilson: Admit the past, deny the present.
Dr. Hadley (Thirteen): Everything has a reason.
Dr. Kutner: Doing things changes things.
Dr. Chase: Don't blame me, blame my gender.
Dr. House: Hope is for sissies.
Dr. Foreman: Bad mojo is not a diagnosis.
Dr. Cuddy: Don't trust opinions.
Dr. Cameron: Something is something.
Dr. Taub: Be good, get good or give up.

While this is one of my favorite shows, I think it is starting to jump the shark. Don't get me wrong, I still LOVE the show.
I mean, if House and Cuddy start dating???
At least the writing is well-rounded enough to interweave the plot through most of the characters' story lines. Nicely directed.

It must be weird to work with your ex-fiancee ~ Jennifer Morrison and Jesse Spencer used to be engaged. I think they even got engaged when Eric and I did (NYE 2006). But they seem to keep professional and good for them, damn mentally unscrewed up healthy people! hee

As far as
House and Kuddy dating, he will screw it up and it will lead to much angsty angst.
Taub is smart though, and he's the one on the team with the most surgical experience. I know that's not what you meant.

At least they're not all in each other's pants on ER. GEEZ! They're like a freakin' soap. (Ooh, which reminds me, need to watch this week for Anthony Edwards and to see if there'll be a tribute to Michael Crichton, seeing as he only CREATED it.)

As for a partner for House,
I'm still rooting for Wilson. Or I guess that would be Hilson. House fans name their hookups: Hameron, Huddy...It's so hard to believe I don't belong to a House message board.
Apparently Clooney is gonna do an ep or so.  As much as he gets on my nerves politically, he's still hot!  Also heard that Eriq La Salle was gonna be on.  Oh, and I guess "Dr. Green" will be back as either flashbacks or memories unless they are gonna raise him from the dead!  I haven't watched ER since they killed Anthony off the show.

It would not surprise me if Clooney did show up on ER. The show made him a star and he owes everything to John Wells.

Last night's episode was like seeing old friends. It was a brilliant way to give Anthony Edwards the opportunity to play Dr. Greene for the last time. Someone over on tvguide.com mentioned in their review of last night that she was "amazed how easily Edwards slipped back into character," and I couldn't agree more. Every so often during the episode, an old cast member would show up, that wasn't reported to be on the show. Laura Innes as Kerry, Paul McCrane as Rocket Romano, and Abraham Benrubi as Jerry. It made me smile. That was MY SHOW. I had 23 VHS tapes of 5 seasons, which I only chucked or kept for temp tapes this past year. I really thought I was in love with Clooney. *shakes head*

I think Edwards was the only person to actually say "gao se" on the show, and it might have been his last or close-to-last episode. He was trying to get out of bed or something and he couldn't. (Holy crap, he said gao se! Did he really say gao se?)

Apparently, he was in the 1995 remake of Sense and Sensibility!  I love that movie.  Usually, the networks only show the Keira Knightly version though, so I've only seen this one once and it was before I started watching House, so I'd not have noticed him.

That is SO HOUSE of him. LOVE that clip of Friends on the plane.

PS. His face when he says "Pheebs" and Eric's favorite line, "No good can come of it."

And the fact he agrees that Rachel and Ross WERE on a break was priceless.

Sense and Sensibility is one of my favorite movies of all time. Hugh only had about 3 lines, but the biggest impression he made on me in that film was his gentlemanly offering to stay with Elinor and Marianne when Marianne got sick. Little things like that do not go unnoticed by me.

This is a long clip, but you can't help but watch. (Hugh is no longer in the clip after the 5:10 mark.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7edDTAsnMU&feature=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p7edDTAsnMU&feature=related)

Oh, speaking of S&S, we got the chance to see Marianne's wedding gown and Colonel Brandon's wedding attire in Santa Fe last week! The New Mexico Museum of Art was exhibiting "Fashion in Film: Period Costume for the Screen," thirty-six period costumes on loan from London's premier costume house, Cosprop. They included such costumes as Drew Barrymore's Cinderella gown with wings in Ever After, the green dancing dress worn by Cate Blanchett in Elizabeth, a suit worn by Colin Firth in Pride & Prejudice, Gwyneth Paltrow's wedding dress in Emma, a simple dress worn by Helena Bonham Carter in A Room with a View, outfit of Emma Thompson's in Howards End, this lovely jacket, skirt and hat number worn by Jacqueline Bisset in Murder on the Orient Express, and Meryl Streep's wedding suit and hat from Out of Africa. They were in pretty good condition, most of them made from actual vintage clothing and heavy detailing. Most of the dresses were petite, for petite people!

I know, too many.

Back on topic:

I liked last night's ep (12/2). It was really, really funny. I liked how the Cuddy-House banter is playing out. "Just shag and get it over with!" Of course, House had said to Wilson a couple seasons ago that Wilson should sleep with Cuddy and get it over with.

Yep, I liked it, too!  I think 13 will be "cured" by Foreman's clinical trial.  Or, she'll die from it!  And the prank House played on the other two docs was hilarious!

I don't think she'll brag about it, but one night about 9 or 9:30PM Pearl got a call from a client (Epilepsy Foundation?).  He wanted a copy of a logo for Greg Gutfeld/Hugh Laurie's band, which were performing that night in California.  She rushed one out for him.

Meanwhile, there was a husband nearby who was pretty unhappy that a client called his wife-to-be's phone at home at 9PM on a Friday night wanting her to work ...   :veryangry:

I've been keeping up with both and Chuck is by far my favorite. I DVR both of them and then watch when I want.
Terminator had so much potential and then they blew it with convoluted mixed up shows and the most unlikable
twit of a character John Connor. The actor is wrong for the part and the writers  have done the part no justice.
Every week you just want to thwack him up side the head. All you can think is "If this is what is supposed to save

I wouldn't mind owning one.  TiVo is supposed to be the best, but I hate the whole idea of paying them a monthly fee to record shows.

I was watching one of those real life medical shows yesterday and they had a case that would make a typical House episode. A kid gets brought into the ER and is paralyzed in his lower extremities. The doc has no idea what's wrong he thinks it might be Guyon-Barré syndrome, but all of a sudden the paralysis starts creeping up his body and Guyon-Barré syndrome doesn't work that fast, but it's the only diagnosis that makes sense at the time. They have medicine that can help, but it's late (or on the weekend) and the cabinet that the medicine is in, is locked up and no one on site has a key (the pharmacist is on his way, but is an hour away). They track down a security guy with a ring full of keys and start trying them so they can get the meds the kid needs before the paralysis hits the diaphragm and he stops breathing. Finally they get the cabinet open and start to prepare the meds.  In the mean time, one of the docs gets the blood test results back and and he notices that the kids potassium levels are deadly low and that it probably isn't Guyon-Barré syndrome that is causing the problem and if they give him the meds for that he will die. That doc stops the other doc and then gives the kid potassium via IV and within minutes the paralysis starts to reverse.

My sister watches those shows all the time...she lives for those medical shows. She really should have gone into medicine.

My mom was like that too...of course she passed away in 1980, before all the cable shows and such..but i remember watching a show that had a woman giving birth, one of the first 'reality' type news/magazine type shows...I swear, I thought she was gonna 'pass' something, she was 'helping' the woman 'pant and breathe'.

It breaks my heart that she missed the births of all of her grandkids. Even though my sister had her two boys when mom was alive, she was living down at Edwards AFB and she gave birth like a barn cat...lol....by the time she started, she was done!! heh.

That ep made me sad and a tad confused.
the stuff with the kid. I never quite got what the deal was. They didn't use the term hermaphodite (?). And they flat out asked, in the early shots apparently just after the child's birth "you've never told us, is our baby a boy or a girl?" Now, correct me if Im wrong, but for a mom to ask that question, would have to mean the child had no penis (which would make sexual identity fairly obvious, confusing if the child also had a uterus in there somewhere. So, I think they should have made that aspect of the conditon a little clearer. They basically left it up to the parents on how they wanted to raise the baby, as a boy or a girl. And were giving the prepubescent 'boy' testosterone (calling them vitamin) shots. I'm sorry...but wouldn't it be easier to "make" the child a 'girl'? I mean, 'he' was showing signs of wanting to dance instead of play basketball. To 'create' a boy, they were giving hormones. Seems to me that it would be easier, in this society, to have a 'tom-boyish girl' rather than a 'girly-boy'. I guess I'm just old fashioned. And I wanted to smack the parents that they let that kid get that old without telling 'him' he was 'special'. Like House said, 'just cuz you gave birth to a freak of nature, didn't mean you needed to treat him like one".

Now, on to what made me sad. Why can't House be painfree/healthy? They times that they have dangled that carrot they've taken it away. I'm sorry, but I think he's snarky enough that they could find a way for him to keep his 'edge' but still be his obnoxious self. I still want to see him showing an interest in the baby too.
You guys hurry and watch it so you can let me know what you thought.
I took it as their baby had both male and female genitalia. True, I don't think they used the term hermaphrodite. I'm not sure why. But supposedly there has been a shift in terms:
"The terms hermaphrodite and pseudohermaphrodite, introduced in the 19th century, are now considered problematic as hermaphrodism refers to people who are both completely male and completely female, something not possible.[7][dubious – discuss] The phrase '"ambiguous genitalia'" refers specifically to genital appearance, but not all intersex conditions result in atypical genital appearance."

"Intersexuality is the state of a living thing of a gonochoristic species whose sex chromosomes, genitalia, and/or secondary sex characteristics are determined to be neither exclusively male nor female. An intersex organism may have biological characteristics of both the male and female sexes.[1] Intersexuality is the term adopted by medicine during the 20th century applied to human beings whose biological sex cannot be classified as either male or female.[2][3][4] Intersexuality is also the word adopted by the identitary-political movement, to criticize medical protocols in sex assignment and to claim the right to be heard in the construction of a new one." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex#Intersex_in_popular_culture (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intersex#Intersex_in_popular_culture)

I guess the parents decided they wanted a boy, but it might have been easier to choose to raise the baby as girl. Their inability to tell the truth was the main focus of the episode though. They were afraid AND doubted that their child could handle the truth (or perhaps them as well?). Stigma in society teaches us to reject (essentially fear) anything abnormal and that it is "wrong." It's why people freak out or shy away when a person has a seizure, something over which the person having the seizure has NO control. It's why mental problems are hushed, even though a great majority of the population is on medication for them. Talking about them creates fear and anxiety ~ a "taboo." Everything and everyone must be perfect. Normal. With taboos, everyone loses. The stigma is changing, albeit slowly. Epilepsy and seizures are still treated incorrectly on TV. I could have sworn a nurse in a House episode from this season attempted to put a tube in a patient's mouth while she was having a seizure. The treatment is NEVER put anything in a person's mouth. Don't restrain them either, but make sure they don't harm themselves like clear the area of sharp objects. While epilepsy has been dealt with grace on shows such as SVU, Judging Amy and Y&R, epilepsy continues to be ripe for derision. I recently saw a t-shirt online that said "Epilepsy: Seize the Day" on it, and while that is slightly comical with the juxtaposition of the carpe diem phrase, people who have HUNDREDS of seizures (some tiny but still seizures) don't find "seizing the day" as something "exciting." We see the Cymbalta commercial constantly, but the depiction is a fraction of the pain depressed people experience.

As for House: I totally understand his crabby behavior is related to his chronic pain. Based on this episode, they've played his post-op behavior as a symptom, and wow, magically when the pain is gone, his poopiness is, too. But from watching his interactions with his ex-wife Stacy (played by Sela Ward in the second season) he was always stubborn. Perhaps the new-found relief was such a God-send that it did have an effect on his mood. But in the long run, I wouldn't buy it. He would still maintain that everybody lies, and he would still be stubborn. Maybe just not as resentful of the pain-free people around him. Because that's what I see. A "pissed at the world complex" if you will. Plus he shaved.  :'(
I heart House.

thanks for your insight into the ep. Good tv, entertains and encourages discussion.

I remember driving down our small town main street with Gingi and Jeremy (teens at the time) in the car and we saw a man laying half in the gutter convulsing in a seizure of sorts. He was continually slamming his head back against the cement. He was right in front of a bakery that was about to close, and a loan type office that had 'just closed'...but there were people still inside BOTH businesses who could couldn't help but see him. Besides, cars were passing by just as we were! We pulled over quickly and tried to speak to him, but he was 'out of it' eyes wide open, but not hearing or responding, just jerking uncontrollably and slamming his head on the ground. This was long before cell phones, so I told both kids, go inside and tel them to call 911! Gingi ran into one (the bakery I think), but the girl at the locked door of the other office just kept saying, 'we're closed', even though he was pointing at the guy and asking for her to call for help. I sat down on the curb and put the man's head in my lap, so that he could 'bang his head' onto my upper thigh, the force that he was hitting me seemed hard enough that his head should have cracked open with the repeated hits he'd suffered before we got there.

After the police and ambulance arrived, the 'closed' loan office or whatever it was, and the bakery people walked out, NOW they were curious, when this man needed help they were 'busy' and 'unavailable to help'. How sick is that? The police asked how we knew him. I said we didn't....we saw him from the road. I pointed and accusingly looked at these mostly women standing outside the safety of their businesses...."No one else would help, not even call you guys, they HAD to see he was in distress".

They got his wallet, and the ambulance guys knew him. They used that loud, voice one hears when they are coming out of anestesia, "John? Why were you driving? You know you aren't supposed to do that" (apparently he was a severe diabetic and had just lost his ability to drive himself, due to this kind of seizsure'...they called his contact person and a woman came down and once everything was under control we left. Not a thank you from the family/lady, just a 'we're used to this kind of thing from him' reaction from the medical guys...

It made me sick. That was quite a few years ago, and I still can't believe that people would just drive past him and NOT stop to try to help. I will never forget seeing that 20-something girl talking through the locked glass door of the business refusing to OPEN up so Jeremy could call for help...I thought then, and almost screamed at her, 'God help you if you ever find yourself in need of a stranger's help!'.

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

People who have seizures just want to be able to do normal things. Unfortunately, sometimes they are banned from driving, which can make it difficult to get rides and they sometimes get in their cars and drive anyway. For the most part, I think they follow the law. It's a shame that the guy had such an episode, but even more so a shame that no one would call 911. You all stopped and while you didn't get a thank you, you were raised to believe that helping your fellow man when he's in trouble is just plain done. Why a simple phone call couldn't have been made is crazy. Apathy is so much a part of today. Yeah, God help them if they ever are in need of a stranger's help.

OK, now I'm depressed.

A good thing on House: In the episode where Foreman's fighting for his life in a clean room, House sees a mother in the clinic who thinks her daughter has epilepsy when she is in her car seat. House watches her daughter, examines her eyes with a flashlight and makes goofy sounds. Child giggles. House asks mom if her child is sweaty anr/or tired after these episodes, and she says yes and actually she (the child) thinks it's funny. "If you mix rocking, grunting, sweating and dystonia with concerned parents and you get an amateur diagnosis of epilepsy. In actuality, all your little girl is doing is... saying yoo-hoo to the hoo-hoo." Mom is horrified that her child is masturbating, and House quips, "Epilepsy is horrifying. Teach your child about privacy and she'll be fine." Bravo.

I got Hoggin' All The Covers by Band From TV!

"Heroes" star Greg Grunberg (drums/vocals),"Desperate Housewives" star James Denton (guitar/vocals), "House" star Hugh Laurie (keyboards/vocals), "Cashmere Mafia" star Bonnie Somerville (vocals), the original star of "The Bachelor" Bob Guiney (vocals), and about 10 other musicians and backup singers make up BTV.

This CD/DVD is a lot of fun. Bonnie Somerville belts out "Piece of My Heart" and "The Letter" like a cross between Janis Joplin and Melissa Etheridge. Bob Guiney sings lead on "You Really Got Me" and "Hard to Handle." James Denton brings country to "Pink Cadillac," "Viva Las Vegas" and "Papa Loves Mama." Dr. House leads on "Will It Go in Circles" and "Goodnight Irene." Greg Grunberg enthusiastically leads the bunch by getting the crowd riled up and ending the show with "Shake a Tail Feather" that turns into a mish-mosh of funny stuff when he introduces everyone on the stage. You can really tell they love jamming together.

The extras on the DVD are not too shabby either. They do a few interviews ~ some impromptu with the seasoned musicians in the band, one with the five of them answering questions, one where Hugh leads them into singing "Man of Constant Sorrow" backstage, and an interview with Greg about how this all started and how he is connected to the foundation he sponsors, the Epilepsy Foundation. Jake, his 11-year-old son, has epilepsy, and he reached out to the Foundation for support, and eventually accepted their invitation to become a spokesperson.

Greg's actually going to be in D.C. this weekend to help with EF's National Walk for Epilepsy ~ he's the chair. EF is a client of ours, and I work on a bi-monthly magazine for them. They've advertised the CD in the magazine, so I told the editor I got it. She said to send it and she would get it signed by Greg for me. She said she'd met him before and he said he loved the magazine. I had to FedEx the sleeve to her, but still ~ it's a nice thank-you. I wrote a goofy message of thanks and best wishes. Of course, if I was actually participating, I might have been able to actually meet him and blow sunshine up his butt about his role on "Felicity," which I loved. Like thousands of other people aren't gonna be clamoring to meet him!

It's funny, the editor and I also talk House and she loves Hugh Laurie, too. I think I'll drive her crazy and mention to her today that she'll be one degree from Hugh when she talks to Greg.  :seesaw:

For an hour-long set and a CD of it, AND gets donated to charity, it's a pretty good deal.

The infectious spirit of the members attracts more friends and stars ~ as they seem to come out of the woodwork at their shows (various YouTube videos attest to that). And as evidenced by Eric's video link, Jesse Spencer and Adrian Pasdar are new members, but they're not on the CD.

From a synopsis on House's House of Whining: Meat Loaf and Colleen Camp guest star as a couple ~ he starts to have breathing complications, and then once he starts turning around, she starts having problems. Sounds like a tearjerker.

Does that mean they're going to rename the show to "Cuddy's Place" or "Wilson's Ball"?

Seriously, though, I could see House and Cuddy finally hooking up... and because House can never find true happiness (outside the pain of others), Cuddy would die tragically.

5.19 Locked In
5.20 Simple Explanation

5.21 Saviors
5.22 A House Divided.
5.23 Best Friend.
5.24 The Dinner.

From Kristin @ TV Guide:

Amanda in Tennessee: House scoopage, please? Does someone commit suicide? Which episode? Give us something, anything, new.
We can only say that the House character death is permanent (he or she will not be back next season), and that the castmember did not want to leave—it was a creative decision.

There are 9 to choose from... I think there are a few to rule out.

Last night's episode was awesome. If it doesn't get some kind of recognition, I would be surprised.

It sure looked like House was trying to put a gun in his hands with a full chamber last night! Talk about harsh. Wow.

I don't want it to be Wilson...I like 'dark and darker' (that line last night totally cracked me up!). Dangit, I don't want anyone from this cast to go. I never liked 'blond haired b-word', but they made me like her with that ep/story line.

I want more House/Cutty interplay...I want to see him soften toward the baby. Oh please, don't take the baby....that was too much those eps when she was on the baby roller coaster! *ack*

Next week's ep is the bachelor party! Road trip!

I rewatched last week's ep... the last 5 minutes where Chase proposed...and House sees a dead person.

There better be a reason to it. If not, I think it's just jumped the shark. At least Death Kitty was amusing.

OK, for some reason I did not enjoy last night's ep with wanton abandon like I normally do. I thought about it too much (bickered at the TV, too). The show has its moments, but I am growing weary of the dragging out of cases. It's just not plausible anymore. I know the premise of the show is to have House solve a medical mystery a la Sherlock Holmes, but the amount of mistakes he and the team are making is just incomprehensible.
The ballerina's skin started coming OFF because of an antibiotic?! And no chastising from Cuddy? There's no lawsuit? THANK GOD House wasn't around to order Chase to go through with the amputation surgery when her fingers and toes started going gangrene. Go Taub.

How many times have the roads of diagnosis gone to brain drilling? 'We haven't drilled into the brain yet! Let's do that!'

This has been the show formula from the get-go, and it's probably only more apparent to me now that House has Dead Amber 'the Albatross' following him around everywhere. I can't say that I'm not enjoying some of Dead Amber's jokes, and Anne Dudek is playing Creepy something fierce, with a capital C. I don't know why I didn't connect Head Six/Head Baltar with it...weird.

The Cameron and Chase storyline is completely insane. Left field. I really have no idea why the actors are going along with it, especially since they got engaged and broke up in real life. I don't understand his willingness to put up with her and her ambivalence toward marriage. Marriage is taking a leap of faith because you don't know what the future will bring. If you don't want to take a leap of faith, then don't do it. Chase, get on with your life. Cameron, get a life.

The kissing was hot.

Maybe I just need to watch it again, cause some of it's going right over my head.
I missed bits and pieces of it, but I did tell Gingi (who never watches tv):
okay, see how he's *the ballet dancer* is complaining? You think it's going to be him that gets sick, but watch, it'll be her..it's always the other one than the one they try to make you think it is
that's when it dawned on me...wow...this is more predictable than I'd realized. :(
did love the snarky interaction between him and the 'female House'. hehe...
Re: the season finale
OK, didn't exactly see that coming. Not in that way. Thought something was definitely going to be neurologically wrong with House. At any rate, all the medication has got to affecting him. [House's inspiration Sherlock Holmes could "handle" his 7% solution of cocaine, but that doesn't mean he didn't have an addiction.]

But Wilson KNEW he was hallucinating. He could have corroborated House's story of detox and sex with one private conversation with Cuddy. He KNEW House's levels of vicodin were too high. Notice how he wasn't too shocked when Cuddy and House entered his office.

Still, I got sad at the end.

The interesting thing he mentioned with Cuddy's coffee cup was oxytocin.

Oxytocin (IPA: /ˌɔk.sɪ.ˈtoʊ.sɪn/) is a mammalian hormone that also acts as a neurotransmitter in the brain.

It is best known for its roles in female reproduction: it is released in large amounts after distension of the cervix and vagina during labor, and after stimulation of the nipples, facilitating birth and breastfeeding, respectively. Recent studies have begun to investigate oxytocin's role in various behaviors, including social recognition, bonding, anxiety, trust, and maternal behaviors.

??? I have no idea what that means.

Yeah, it was 'too good to be true'. Very sad ep. Hurt my heart for them all. I was happy to see some REAL love between Cameron and Chase...that was nice, even though it seemed a bit cold that they got married with House going off to the 'crazy house'. Sad....but awesome ep. I will watch it again with Jessi...as always, Tom came home right in the middle of it *he started having alien hand syndrome, which he told Gingi for some reason wanted to grab 'mom boobs'..sent Gingi giggling hysterically telling me to run...all while I'm trying to heat up his dinner and throw water on him* (he loves having a cohort who eggs him on in his silliness)...then Jessi came home during the last few minutes and was all ticked that I kept exclaiming/explaining out loud (to Tom who was lost) what was happening. Wackiness is often the norm around here.

I play chess, so when I heard from Pearl the latest idea for saving Fillion's show, Castle was to send the "castle" pieces of a chess set I nearly went ballistic.  "It's not a 'castle', it's a rook (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rook_(chess))!"

So now if either of us is wrong about something, or if something is being called a name it shouldn't, the conversation always devolves to "It's a rook!"

OK, maybe ya just had to be there.  :haha:

So now if either of us is wrong about something, or if something is being called a name it shouldn't, the conversation always devolves to "It's a rook!"

OK, maybe ya just had to be there.  :haha:

I totally get it! When Tom and I were first married, something was said about a 'Veranda'...Tom didn't know what that was. I told him, 'it's just another name for a porch, usually something fancy, like in the old South...'. But the joke that came out of that was, from then on, whenever there was something that one of us didn't know or couldn't remember the name of, it became 'the veranda'. We had an old cabinet that we used to hold our TV. It was once a fancy piece of furniture, with shelves, but we gutted it, and cut a hole in the back for the cords...it wasn't a 'cabinet' anymore, so, it became 'the veranda'.

They say that it's those wacky 'family' inside jokes and things that show the level of intimacy and love a family shares. I think that's another reason I LOVE "Castle"...they always show that side of his relationship with his daughter. I swear I cry almost every ep. Gingi told me "I think that's why you love this show so much...just that part of it!". I told her I actually LOVE seeing Nathan play that much vulnerability...Mal didn't allow himself that. This part is so perfect for him!

It's kinda like the MommyUncleJesus thing. If you weren't there, you go WTH? If you were there, you wish that someone would stop cracking your toes.
I was thinkin' the same thing...but Lucy and Desi did it for years.
And yeah, that was a bit fast...when I ran out of my meds (vicodin included), I thought I'd manage till my next appointment to just see what I still needed. Uh, no....

I hurt so much more than I should/would have ordinarily...I was twitching in my sleep...I threw up acid water! And this from just being on a regular dosage for barely 5 months...with a 'one pill each night' reigime for nearly a year previous. My doctor freaked when I told him what I'd done! I told him how I had to call in for refills, and didn't realize how 'bad' I was (since the pain was sooooooooooooooo much worse). He said, 'oh no, you are not really hurting that bad from the surgery! That was withdrawl you were feeling. Your bones haven't finished knitting together, you still need the pain meds, and when you are ready, we will take you off them slowly!". *whew* So, yeah.
Self-medication really isn't a good idea, but we do it.

I go back to him today, to read the new set of xrays and the MRI. Of course, a huge 'dip' in the driveway of the cemetary (going to Mom's and Grandpa's grave on Mother's Day), hurt me and the girls...so I'll be seeing him with more pain than ordinary. *sigh*

I gotta remember to ask him about 'lifting limits' and what exercises I can do to rebuild all the muscle I wasn't using for the past nearly 2 years!

Yeah. From what I'm hearing weight training is actually quite helpful with pain, provided you don't go overboard. They say small weights even make a difference. <needs to get back pain resolved>

I've got to go back for another MRI on the neck. The disc above the first surgery site is 'narrow and probably what's causing you pain now'. Lovely.

He said light weights, don't do any heavy lifting, and I'll know if I 'overdid it' the next day. Great.

Sorry,  you know I LOVE House, but I was just confused as heck (and I'm normally the one who can keep up with the weird stuff!) and stupid FOX runs all it's shows over so that the last min or two is cut off, and I keep forgetting to set my shows to run late (I got Bones, but none of the others).  {{Breathe}}

One Tree Hill was really bad, as was CSI:Miami, so it made it that much worse for House to disappoint!

Heh.

I 'love' the new promos for House (already?!) ~ "this fall will shock you!" It doesn't look like they show anything new.

Jessi and I finally got her caught up on the eps she's missed during school. Then the 'new' promo's show and she's like, "uh, yeah, scenes from last season with everyone turning around in surprise and them telling us how shocked we're going to be....". heh.

I really hope this season wasn't their "Jump the Shark" season 'cause I was really enjoying my new show (that'd been around for 5 years!)

You know, with all the reruns most of the time I'm watching till the end because I don't remember what happens. I think there's maybe a season's worth of final diagnoses I remember. Toothpick. Tapeworm. Pigeon feces. Tumor. Pesticide....
