A team that still has a loosing record makes it to the second round of the playoffs and the defending champs are out. So says my imaginary crystal ball.

Imagine the crystal ball being a linebacker... named Chris Clemons... and he's telling Mr. Brees his fortune, behind the line of scrimmage while he is on his back with the ball still in his hands.

Or imagine the crystal ball being a kick returner... named Leon Washington... and he's telling the Saints fans their future while he is streaking down the sidelines for his 4th kick return for TD of the season.

Since the Seahawks are a customer of my place of employment (Copiers NW) and CNW is an official sponsor of the Seahawks and both deals are about to run out, my owners get to fly to Chicago on the Seahawks team plane and sit with owner Paul Allen for the game. I asked if they needed someone to document their trip, but they said no.  :-\ but Yay for them!

Alabama's Trent Richardson to the Seahawks?

ESPN's Todd McShay has four SEC players going in the top 10 picks of the 2012 NFL draft, but Alabama running back Trent Richardson isn't one of them.

McShay has Richardson going No. 11 overall to the Seattle Seahawks in his latest mock draft. Here's what McShay has to say about Richardson:

"Richardson is a top-five talent but will likely slip a bit because of positional value considerations. Falling this far would be a surprise, but none of the teams in the top 10 have a pressing need at running back. If none of them ignore need to take the best player available, the Seahawks will feel like they've won the lottery."

The first SEC player to come off the board, according to McShay, will be LSU cornerback Morris Claiborne at No. 5 overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The other SEC players projected to go in the top 10 are also defensive players -- South Carolina defensive end Melvin Ingram to the Miami Dolphins at No. 8, LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers to the Carolina Panthers at No. 9 and Alabama outside linebacker Courtney Upshaw to the Buffalo Bills at No. 10. Ingram and Upshaw both really helped themselves with strong performances at the Senior Bowl.

McShay has four Alabama players going in the first round. Safety Mark Barron is projected to go to the New York Jets at No. 16 and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick to the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 17.

Georgia offensive tackle Cordy Glenn is penciled in at No. 23 to the Detroit Lions and Texas A&M quarterback Ryan Tannehill at No. 25 to the Denver Broncos.

Former Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins, who played last season at North Alabama, is projected to go No. 14 overall to the Dallas Cowboys.

The hawks do have a tendency to take the best available player, but we do have a decent RB in Marshawn Lynch, but that being said Marshawn is a free agent this year and may want more money than the Seahawks are will to pay and getting a young guy in the draft that you have control over might be a better choice. Trent is the style of RB that Pete Carol likes as well, a low center of gravity punisher. Trent looks to be about 10 lbs bigger than Marshawn. Both are 5-11
Title: Re: Seahawks
Post by: TinkTanker on February 06, 2012, 08:16:05 AM
At 5'11 and only 220 pounds, he has a power clean of over 365 pounds, a 600 pound squat, and a bench press of 475 pounds all to go along with lightning quick speed of a 4.4 40 yard dash. His coach has said that he picked up the 365 lbs. like it was a toothpick. However, his coach will not let him go heavier than that for fear of injury, saying "The last thing I need to do is mess this kid up", indicating that we'll never know his true one rep max.

QuotePostscript: When Flynn was in Seattle, he asked Schneider if there was a chance he could get his favorite number, 15. In Green Bay, Bart Starr's number wasn't available; it had been retired. In Seattle, 15 belonged to wide receiver Doug Baldwin. So Schneider on Sunday contacted Baldwin and asked if he'd be OK giving up the number. Baldwin's favorite number, 89, had just come available with free agent tight end John Carlson leaving for Minnesota. Baldwin wanted 89. Schneider said sure.

"You sure I can have 89?'' Baldwin said.

"Doug,'' said Schneider, "I'm sort of the boss around here. Yeah, you can have it.''

The boss got his man Sunday, at the right money. Now we'll see if Flynn's the answer.

Terrell Owens a Seahawk?

I saw that being floated on fark yesterday .

If he can keep his mouth shut and lose the crocodile arms .....

( probably still not worth it )

:(

They signed him to a 1 year veteran minimum contract with not guarantee, so if it doesn't work they can just cut him loose very little money lost.

Red seems like a great guy. He always fun to listen too in interviews. He met his wife at A&M and did not know that she was the daughter of Seahawk legend, Jacob Green, when he started dating her. It's kind of fitting that he ended up in Seattle playing the same position as his father-in-law.

I am frustrated with this team. It's all in place except for the passing game. Time to let the rookie sit out and see what Matt Flynn can do. This team would be 4-0 if it had mediocre passing game, but the have the worst rated passing game in the NFL right now.

#1 Kick Returns (Special Teams)
#2 Points Allowed (Defense)
#3 Least yards allowed per game (Defense)
#6 Rushing (Offense)
#7 Sacks (Defense)

#32 Total passing yards (Offense)

Also, HP is footing the bill for food and drink!

Why the Seahawks will lose to the Rams

Following the Richard Sherman appeal victory, Roger Goodell adds Starbucks and Maple Bars to the banned substance list, and the entire Seahawks team is "randomly" asked to submit urine samples.

Ironically, Sherman is the only Seahawk who manages to stay eligible for this week's game, and he valiantly fights the Rams to a 3-3 halftime tie all by himself. He then fails a halftime "random" urine test when Goodell quickly outlaws "badass."

Broncos from the AFC. I think the Seahawks will make it if they can beat the Falcons. They've already beat the 49ers and Greenbay and even though the game would be on the road, I like the Hawks chances. There is something special in the way this team plays. Nothing gets them down, even spotting the other team 14 points, and they just keep playing their brand of football with the confidence that the game will end with a W.

I don't blame anyone in particular, there was plenty of bad defense played in the first half and the offense seemed to be operating in slowmo, but they did what they could in the second half and made a game of it . I am sad, but very proud of this team. There has never been any quit in this team this season and it is such a young team. The future is bright.

Two tries for a yard in the Red Zone and no Marshawn Lynch ?

And calling a time out to "freeze" the kicker ?
"Prevent" defence in the final 30 seconds ?

I'm putting those directly at the coaching staff .

But that was still a pretty great game .
Seattle's for real .
NFC West is now the toughest in their conference .

Golden Tate begs to differ.  :haha:

Golden Tate Claims He Caught Final Hail Mary In Falcons Game

ATLANTA—Following the Seahawks' playoff loss to the Falcons, Seattle wide receiver Golden Tate reportedly insisted Sunday that he caught Russell Wilson's 48-yard desperation pass as time expired, claiming that the play should have been ruled a touchdown. "I had possession at the end. I absolutely did. I got in there under Julio Jones, I fought for the ball the whole way, and I came down with it," said Tate, adding that after briefly conferring at the back of the end zone, the referees "made the wrong call." "It's hard to tell because there's no perfect camera angle on the replay, but if you were there and you saw it up close, I clearly caught that ball. It was a legal catch." Pressed for further explanation, Tate claimed that while the pass was in the air, he slid inside Julio Jones's jersey, controlled the ball with two feet down, and then slid back out.

So the Seahawks lose DC Gus Bradley to the Jags and then immediately hire Dan Quinn as the new DC from the Gators (also a former Seahawk Dline coach). When Quinn took over the Gators D they were #32 and last season they were #2. I like it!

Yes Tink, I did notice who had the #1 D this season.

Will Muschamp (HC of the Gators) is a Nick Saban protege. He ran the defense at Texas and was coach-in-waiting under Mack Brown until he said Chuck this and went to Florida. Muschamp knows defense and if he hired Dan Quinn, he hired a good one. Congrats on the hire!

Was so sad when Warner got hurt during the first game in 1984. They went on to a 12-4 record without him, but his bum knee shortened his career.

49ers fans complain Seahawks 12th man is too loud, unsportsmanlike
http://kiroradio.com/listen/9961573 (http://kiroradio.com/listen/9961573)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The noise from Sunday night's record-setting Seahawks game at CenturyLink Field continues to resonate in San Francisco, where some tender-eared fans are complaining the 12th Man gave Seattle an unfair advantage and should be silenced.
Judy Spelman and Rich Schiller wrote a letter to the editor of the San Francisco Chronicle about what they called "unsportsmanlike conduct" and "as big an advantage over an opponent as any performance enhancing drug and which, to their shame, NFL officials turn the same blind eye they have to concussions and drugs."

Needless to say, the letter isn't going over well here in Seattle. But in an exclusive interview with KIRO Radio's Dori Monson Show, Rich insisted something needs to be done because the noise was unfair to his beloved 49ers.

"I mean it's really important for quarterbacks to be able to get their signals out for everybody and it needs to be a level playing field where both sides get the information just as easily. It certainly doesn't happen if the sound is too high."

Rich and Judy proposed monitoring decibel levels at all games and asking fans to keep it down. If they get too loud for more than three games, a team would lose their home games for the rest of the year, including playoff games.

"If they're told that, I believe, enough times, that there could be some repercussions, then it's probably going to be better," Rich says.

Judy says it's clear the San Francisco receivers were confused because they couldn't hear the plays.

"I don't think it is sour grapes at all. I think what we're saying is you put a whooping on the field because you had an unfair advantage. If you couldn't hear your signals and we could hear ours, you would have lost and we would have won," she says. "Home field advantage is a good thing everywhere, but I believe it doesn't have to be with noise."

It sounds like a joke, but they insist they're serious.

"We think it's dirty play. What you really want your team to do is to be the best team and you don't want the play or the outcome of the game to be distorted by an outside force like extra fan noise," Rich says.

The couple plans to send letters to every NFL city and launch a petition drive to get fans to demand the league change its rules and silence Seattle.

"Home field advantage is a lot of things. Seattle is the only place where it includes noise," she says.

While no one on the 49ers complained, Judy says when the fans get behind her effort, they will.

"It's like a political leader. You wait to see what your constituents want, you let people speak first and I think the fans need to speak. I expect you would hear from other teams."

Something tells us they'll hear plenty. It just might not be what they're hoping for.

My biggest problem with it is I can't stand Mitch's voice when he sings. I've been listen to his show for 20 years (my god has it been that long?) and I enjoy his sense of humor, sports commentary (75% of the time anyway) and he's a great interviewer (he asks great question and is very good at listening and asking follow up questions - he keeps most interviews from being cliche fests), but his singing voice makes me want to pour Drano in my ears.

Marshawn Lynch interrupts phone interview to give teammate some rest

There was an unexpected guest on the Seahawks post-game show on KIRO and 710 ESPN this Sunday when Marshawn Lynch grabbed the phone from fellow Seahawks player Zach Miller during an interview.
"We're on the flight right now. We're not trying to hear what you talking about. We want to enjoy what we got going on. Can you please call back tomorrow?" said Lynch.

After asking if the interview was live, Lynch continued.

"Zach just went through battle and ya'll want to talk. We appreciate what you got going on right now. Zach is tired, he want to go to sleep. It's about a four and a half hour flight. He would like to get some rest. He's got to go home to twins and he ain't really trying to hear what you all are talking about right now. I'm sorry but we appreciate it, thank you."

While typically it's Miller blocking for Marshawn, it looks like this time Marshawn stepped in to protect his teammate.

Listen to how hosts Dori Monson, Dave Wyman, Mack Strong and Craig Terrill handled the exchange:

Get to do a photo session with Seahawks Safety Earl Thomas! He will be a special guest at our technology show next month and will be taking photos with the folks (customers) who show up to the show. We will print out the photos latter and have Earl sign them and then we will be framing them and getting them to our customers.

Today is the day. I'm getting nervous!

Earl was great to work with. He was so nice to everyone. I think I took photos of him and 150 or so fans and he was a pro. Very personable and always smiling. At the end of it I took some solo shots of him and at one point I asked him to give me his war face. He held it for about two second and then lost it and started laughing. He came over to me and said that he wants a copy of the laughing photo and gave me a big bro-hug.

Only have to win home games to guarantee home field advantage. And then win home games to make it to the big game.  :D

That's the advantage of having the home field. Your fans can make noise and disrupt the play-calling of the other team. And Rush loves Richard Sherman so he must be flawless and without peer. Or something.

Sherman's trash talking is most always in response to a player that has given him gao se off the field and in the game they just played against each other and he only talks crap if he he's played well against them, which is most of the time. When a player out plays him he gives them praise, but that never makes the news.

He caused you pain, he read that lane
He jumped, And Crabtree was denied
You're pissed, you fell under his spell
The Boom, making Niners cry

He's got lots to say
That's just how he plays,
Sherm will always taunt you
I can't tell a lie,
The play of his life
It will always haunt you

He came in and he wrecked it all
Your chances at the Superbowl
All he wanted was to catch your ball
Proving he's the, the best in the league
You had no, chance with our D.

You threw it high up in the sky
No chance, it's ever coming down
He slowly turned, you should have learned
But now, your ass is on the ground

He's got lots to say
That's just how he plays,
Sherm will always Taunt you
I can't tell a lie,
The play of his life
It will always haunt you.

He came in and he wrecked it all
Your chances at the Superbowl
All he wanted was to catch your ball
Proving he's the, the best in the league

He came in and he wrecked it all
Yeah, spotted that football and swung
Left you whining just like Jim Harbough
You are no match for the seahawks D.
You had no, chance with our D.

He never meant to start a war
You expected us to let you win?
Screaming with a lot of force
It's the way Sherman has always been
He never meant to start a war
You expected us to let you win?
YOU MAD BRO cause you couldn't win?

He's got lots to say
That's just how he plays,
Sherm will always taunt you

A. The guy caught on camera screaming at and physically threatening a photographer? The person arrested for drag racing and admittedly driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol? The guy being sued for assaulting a photographer?  Or,

B. An NFL football player who gave a very animated interview moments after making the game winning play in the biggest game of his career? The graduate of Stanford University who started a foundation to raise money to buy supplies for impoverished inner city schools?

12 is a retired number in the Seahawks organization (retired in 1976) and will only ever be worn by the fans or the 12th Man. It's different than the Texas A&M 12th Man, in Seattle the 12th Man is all the fans.

Email we just got at work.

QuoteTeam,

Seahawks are world champions and it's time to celebrate!  As official office equipment providers to the Hawks, Mark and Gregg would like to let everyone know that employees are welcome to take a long lunch and join the Championship parade tomorrow at 11:00AM.  Since we are a few blocks away from the parade's starting point (4th & Denny) we thought employees would like to walk down and show their support for the first leg of the parade and then come back to watch the rest of the event on TV.  Also, for those that are not interested in facing the cold (they are estimating 31 degrees tomorrow) we will be showing the entire parade on the big screen in the back conference room.  Let's take some time and have fun celebrating this historic event!

Casual Day: Since we are celebrating the Seahawks we are going to have our casual day tomorrow.  All Casual Friday rules apply, however there is one exception.  For tomorrow employees are welcome to wear tennis shoes or some sort of warm foot wear (please no shoes where we can see your toes ).

Time: Parade will start at 11:00AM (we will likely head out to Denny Way 30-45 minutes before then)

Panicking Marshawn Lynch Unable To Deactivate Beast Mode

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ—Caroming wildly around the locker room following the Super Bowl on Sunday, a panicked Marshawn Lynch reportedly informed teammates that he couldn't figure out how to deactivate Beast Mode. "Help me, help me!" said the Seattle Seahawks running back as he stiff-armed head coach Pete Carroll and hurtled recklessly out of a stadium exit and into the parking lot. "Please, anyone, call the police! I don't know what's happening! This is beyond my control!" At press time, witnesses confirmed Lynch was sprinting at full speed eastward on I-95, with authorities confident that he would lose steam once he hit the Atlantic Ocean.

It's a first time I gotten emotional after a Seahawks draft pick. Last year the Hawks picked Shaquill Griffin out of The University of Central Florida, He played really well at corner back for a rookie. This year they picked his twin brother Shaquem Griffin, also from The University of Central Florida. Shaquem is an amazing story, He was born without one of his hands. Despite the challenge of only having one hand, Shaquem got a college scholarship and became the star of his team. The UCF Kinghts went undefeated last year due in part to the amazing play of Shaquem.

In all the interviews I have listed to and read, these these two brothers seem like amazing people and not just football players. I am so happy to have them both on the Hawks.

Wikipedia says his left hand's fingers were stunted.  It caused him so much pain that at age four his parents found him with a butcher knife trying to self-amputate the digits.  :o  The parents scheduled the operation the next day.

Sounds like he really deserved the pick and it wasn't just some sort of advertisement or virtue-signalling: https://twitter.com/UCF_Football/status/985551326162501633

Yep, he's a hell of an athlete. I feel he would have been drafted higher if he had two hands. I thinks it's amazing that the brothers get to play together again. Shaquill showed some pro-bowl caliber skills last year as a rookie and I think the two of them being on the same team will make each of them better. they have so much experience working together. it can't do anything but help. So excited to see them as Seahawks this season.
