Title: Season 8
Post by: TinkTanker on April 11, 2013, 07:20:24 AM
Yvonne Strahovski returning to 'Dexter'

Yvonne Strahovski is officially returning to Dexter for the show's eighth season.

The actress is set to reprise her role in a multi-episode arc this summer as Hannah McKay, the gorgeous killer florist. Last season, Hannah became Dexter's twisted love interest and a major thorn in his side. When we last saw her in the seventh season finale, Hannah had escaped from prison, and Dex was seemingly lucky to get away from her. "We both knew it would come to this, one of us dead or behind bars," Dexter said. With Hannah returning, we suspect this time one of them (or both?) won't escape so easily.

I OK with this development.

I'm kind of surprised Zach and Adam haven't been picked up for something.  Levi especially, he is
such a good actor and his comedy is gold.

He was filming the sequel to Thor. :)  But he's probably in his Nerd Machine stuff too. He mentioned he was interested in a Chuck movie, but who knows. I hope he finds something good; I miss him (and "Chuck").

So far it's been interesting. I do have some questions about a new character...
So what is up old Doc. Crazy Eyes? I started to think she is being setup as the Big Bad and that she is pulling the strings on the "Brain Surgeon" murders (and actually cutting the skulls open), but they are kind of making it obvious that this may be the case and I am now thinking it's a red herring.

I like that Deb is messed up. Who wouldn't be? I hate that they are hinting that Deb and Joey "skinny douche" Quinn may end up getting back together. I hate that guy.

I want more scenes with the Good Detective's sister...  >:D

I truly believe this show has jumped the shark and in all sincerity, I wish Deb could've turned Dexter in. I am keeping my expectations low as it looks like she is going to "confess"?! Deb has put her faith in Dexter only to have to bottom drop out when witnessing him killing Travis Marshall and then becoming tormented with the impossible decisions to bury his secrets. If anything, her choices are flawed and she blames Dexter without taking any blame herself — at first. Her arc has been crazy. I wish Jennifer Carpenter would get more award recognition than just a Saturn (although it's cool).

Knew there was something up with the neuropsychiatrist. I've only watched the first episode, but she has been studying Dexter for quite some time. I'm just going to let the chips fall and they will.
Hey, I was just rereading some Dexter threads:

QuoteIf Jamie sleeps with Joey next season, I am done with this show.

What gives?  :haha:

I don't know if she's Dayum cute, but she's pretty close.

Can't wait to catch up on the Comic Con panel (as well as the other panels for various shows n' stuff).

Not really Dexter related, but this happened a couple block from work yesterday and it was surreal driving past the scene and seeing the blood on the ground on the corner of Dexter and Harrison.

I hope the rider recovers.

Color me confused after the last episode. I can't figure out who the big bad is. I hope it's not someone who hasn't been introduced, then all my musings about him/her will have been for naught.

Man, that kid is either seriously clueless (who knew he was going to be comic relief) or seriously pulling the wool over our eyes.

I have no idea how this is going to end. Should be interesting.
I knew he shouldn't trust that doctor. Don't trust the Brits! :P
I have no idea what's going to happen in the finale. But Powder is going to ruin everything!!

Yeah! "Powder" can kick ass ~ SPF has 2 black belts, in karate and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

So I really don't want Deb to die, even though Jennifer Carpenter has stated that's how she thinks her character should end up. (She's so cheery!)

I wonder if anyone on the police force would understand Dexter's actions if they knew...but in all honesty, he should have been turned in by Deb.

I doubt if Dex gets to live happily ever after.

Ok, I cried.  It wasn't the greatest ending, but it makes sense.

I was a little disappointed in the ending, but how do you end a story like this? I don't think I would have been satisfied with any ending, so it's all good.

On the other hand, I am expecting some big for Breaking Bad.

On the other hand, I am expecting some big for Breaking Bad.

I did not expect to get so emotional...maybe it's partly menstrual but I just love Deb Morgan. I've been reading all kinds of comments and they are pretty negative. I've never seen such a bunch of cry babies.
There was NO way he was going to live happily ever after or get caught...for a split second I almost thought he was going to be watching Hannah and Harrison from across the street. I'm not sure how I would've felt if they had truly killed him off; Dexter Morgan becomes the "anti-hero" because he killed himself off? I felt a surge of empathy though...and then I felt weird he was living alone in exile. Sara Colleton mentioned in interviews about the finale that during the finale Dexter was having less voice-overs and ultimately had none at the end. He is for all intents and purposes "gone." Did he need to get caught by Miami PD or Batista and Quinn? Technically, he already got caught by Deb and Laguerta. Honestly, after eight seasons, to have finally been caught would have been a cop-out.

There was no happily-ever-after for Deb either, although Colleton or Scott Buck posited that dying was the happy ending for her. I feel like she would have eventually cracked or committed suicide because of her guilt for shooting and killing Laguerta and letting Dexter "get away." When Deb ended up in a coma, I thought Saxon had gotten to her, or even Deb did something to herself. Is it a cop-out to give her a blood clot? Maybe, but it forced Dexter's hand. Let Dexter Bunyan live in silence!
Even though I don't watch Breaking Bad, I am happy that the show won the Emmy and hope it continues to go out on top. Now the 3 main characters have Emmys! And Merritt Wever winning for "Nurse Jackie" was brilliant. She is hilarious on that show. The only thing that would even better is Simon Hedberg (Howard should be nominated!!!) and Jennifer Carpenter winning Emmys. Oh well.

This is one of my all-time favorite scenes from Dexter.

Dexter "tells" Deb that he's the Bay Harbor Butcher (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X063gO7Tdg#)

And then there's more.
