Yep, they are gonna show the first ep right before the second ep airs.  I hope it's as good as I'm expecting, especially with Christian Kane in it!

Speaking of Christian Kane, he was on an ep of Las Vegas (from 2004) and the hubby and I watched it last night.  Really good job!

I really liked it.  The cast was good, and I like the premise.   I guess last night was Dean Devlin night on TNT, though, with the newest Librarian movie on right before.

Christian Kane is adorable.  I loved him in Angel, and I adored him in Second Hand Lions.  I even kinda like his music :)

Hubby and I were talking about him (Christian Kane) last night.  What was that movie with Angelina Jolie where he played her baseball player boyfriend?  Hubby says, he always seems to play the bad guy!

He was pretty funny in Secondhand Lions. That is such an interesting story.
I liked that silly movie he made for MTV with r&b singer Monica. (Love Song)

As for Angelina's boyfriend, I was gonna half-guess Life or Something Like It, and that's what IMDb says. I hated her hair in that movie.

One of the best things Angel writers did was reintroduce Lindsey in Season 5. I totally gao se a brick and yelled for joy when he showed up. Tat-Man!

(promise to talk more about the show when I actually SEE it)

Brains, Brawn or In Between?

QuoteYOU ARE LIKE SOPHIE

Being the grifter of the bunch, you might not act onstage or onscreen, but you're quite the performer, nonetheless. Fame is for the egocentric—you're in it for the thrill of deception and, well, the financial stability. Few people get to use their cunning and confidence to such an extent, so consider yourself lucky. Sure, it's not the most moral way to earn a living, but there are such things as necessary evils. After all, spiders and bubblegum pop are still around, right?

Moral or Malicious?

I just saw him on a rerun of Las Vegas.  Why is it that he always plays a bad guy?!  (Maybe cause he's so good at it!!)

So, when will he be on NCIS??

I just watched all 4 in a row. I loved it. The pacing is great, the dialogue, the acting . It reminds me of the A-Team.

I have always loved Timothy Hutton and its great seeing Christian Kane back on TV. Its always fun to see Mark on the screen.

It inspired a new word to described the show: Yummylicious!

Gina Bellman is really good in this.  I got so used to seeing her as the ditz in 'Coupling', that it's odd to see her as a sharp cookie.

Oh good! This looks like another one I will pick up on DVD to watch when nothing is on or the long breaks
appear. TNT really has some good shows. I just wish they had longer seasons than these little 15 episode
ones. Right now I'm watching the 3rd season of The Closer and the 15 episode season just doesn't last
long enough.

I know The Closer restarted this week so I would think Saving Grace would be back up already. I have
mixed feelings about Saving Grace. I thought I would really like it since I like Holly Hunter and I knew the
area it was supposed to be filmed in so well. BUT a little bit of Holly Hunter goes a long way and her
character is not very likable and it is hard for me to believe that this skinny scrawny 50 year old is
supposed to be such a sex symbol to all these guys. It's such a train wreck of a show and part and I
really dislike her partner Ham. Also I haven't heard an OK accent among any of them and since that
is such a strong accent and very noticeable part of the state it stands out for me.  Other than
the bombing memorial they really haven't captured the area too well and that was a disappointment.

Not that desperate I assure you. :)  Actually most women there are not that kind of skinny but many keep
themselves in shape because the warm weather lets them get out a lot. They have their share of overweight
population though. I think Holly is supposed to be younger than she is in this but do they think having her
be this thin makes her look it? Since OK is a predominately bible belt state with the religion very much some
form of Baptist I thought the emphasis on Catholics was a little odd too.

Title: Re: Leverage
Post by: Saxon on January 30, 2009, 09:38:18 AM
Yeah, I guess I the idea of Catholic gave them more possibilities for story lines? How many Babptist have made news in recent (like since the Timothy McVey thing) years?

They are showing just how damaged she is...I guess they didn't have enough headlines to back it up if she were just a regular 'Bible Belt Bible Thumper'. :beatsme:

I still like the show. I love Earl. He's my kind of Angel.

Most places in the Bible that talk about Angels 'visiting' have them doing things like walking down the road, sharing a meal, and so on...usually it's only the 'man of God' amongst them who even recognise them as Angels. So, in that way, I think Earl fits right in! I LOVE how her best friend realized that she saw and spoke to Earl, but can't really put her finger on what he looked like! That gave me goosebumps. I KNOW there have been real Angels who've come into contact with people. That plane crash into the river the other day reminded me of a similar tragedy...one where mulitiple people reported a man coming into the water to rescue them, then going back out for others...no one ever found out who he was, and he was never accounted for as one of the passengers that was 'lost' or even as any 'missing person' who might have just stopped to help. I've always believed he was an Angel.

Oh, they could have a field day with Baptists but maybe not with the priest pedophile thing they were going
for. :)

Earle is the best thing about the show but I do wish more progress was made with her. I guess they will
get there eventually but they better do it quick before anorexia gets her. :)

Yeah, they REALLY had to have her screwed up, so the mix of child molestation/religion thing was a must do. BUT, as someone told me on the OB (hehe, of all people Tamara), if she gets 'saved' too soon, the show will end!

I don't want it dragged out too long, this is the kind of story I'd be happy to see wind up in just a few 'seasons' (since they are so short anyway). Once God makes himself so obviously known to you, the longer you hold out, the more likely you are NOT going to accept him. Of course, this could go on for 40 years if they want to emulate how God kept giving the Hebrews 'chances' in the wilderness! hehe. I'd hate to see Grace lost after being told that we were going to witness her 'saving'.

The nice thing, bringing reality into the mix, is that if the makers of this show are Christians, and have dealt with those who've had this much baggage washed away through the Blood of Jesus...then they would HAVE to know that as soon as she starts to believe (which she is), even more crap comes your way (Spiritual Attack)...then, when you DO accept the Lord, there is still that 'war' going on...takes awhile before satan decides that you are a 'lost cause' and moves on. We should see her take a step forward, then something happens that makes her wanna take two steps back (which they've been doing pretty well). I want to hear her (and she may have, I've missed some eps) say to Earl, something along the lines of 'why have things gotten worse since you showed up?"...whereas he can answer something along the lines of 'Grace, you've heard of this 'war on terror' goin' on in the world? Well, hon, what's happenin' in heaven, and with your soul in particular, makes that little skirmish look like a fight over the last cookie between toddlers!".

heh.

I love me my Earl!

I bought the DVD of the first season and haven't watched anything else. The ending of the first season
sort of had that move forward step back thing. I really hate her partner Ham. He comes across as so
stupid and not really like someone she would find attractive mentally although I guess that is not what
she is looking at. I don't find him very attractive physically either but I'm sure that is just me. That is
the problem I have with many shows, If I don't like the looks of the people then I usually don't care for
the shows. I guess that is shallow of me but I can't help it. :) They don't have to be good looking just
appealing. Like the Closer, there aren't too many beautiful people there but the whole cast is just very
appealing too me. The people in the department of Saving Grace just aren't even though one is quite
good looking.

Sorry, I have to wait to watch the eps, with my wacky sleep cycle, so I'm trying not to check in here right after an ep airs. It's just that on on On Demand, they always have commercials of all the TNT shows and I keep thinking I need to check out some of the others, since Saving Grace is the only one I've seen of them.

It's been really fun watching Leverage with Tom, since we very rarely agree on shows. When even he does that little out loud chuckle, you know it's a hoot!

I love how all the characters are already so well defined, even with me (and Tom) missing the first ep, we KNOW the characters, and sometimes with just a look, or a stab in the chest with a fork, a whole past is laid out!!

That totally cracked him up!

Good stuff.

I just wish they'd have all the eps up on On Demand, and keep them up, instead of just a few at a time. I've still not seen the first ep. Jessi really wants to see all the eps too, but hates to miss any, (esp. the first) so she doesn't want to watch the eps that On Demand are offering. I need to have her check to see if they are online. We've been cozying up in her old twin bed with my 'reclining pillows' to watch tv', so with Gingi's old computer we could catch up too.

Oh YAY!!

I FINALLY got to see the first ep...explained some stuff that I'd already figured out, but it was fun seeing how the group interacted when they first met.

I absolutely LOVE this show.

I'm mad at Jessica that she has school today, cuz we were supposed to catch up with the other eps she's missed over the weekend and stuff kept getting in the way. I'm sure if the neighbors heard our silly banter they'd wonder is it was 'Freaky Friday' at our house all the time.

"Oh yeah, go off to school when you were supposed to go get me some fast food"

"The house is full of easy to heat up stuff, we just shopped yesterday"

"Yeah, but I don't want to do it, and you are leaving, so I'll have to do it myself"

"I'll only be gone about 3 hours"

"That's not gonna leave much time to watch tv before Chuck comes on..."

"Don't worry, I'll be home in time to see Chuck, where are the 3D glasses I got for you?"

(....lol...yeah....Freaky Friday, every day around here.)

"Do you HAVE to go to School?" *whine*

"Yes, I have to go to school."

"Don't you need school books or something?" (she's going to the building site where they are working on another house)

"School books are for losers"

"Then youd DEFINATELY need some!!" *pretends to run*
*she pretends to give chase*

"Love you"
"love you, go to bed and don't do anything to hurt yourself".

Leverage has been renewed for a second season.

TNT renews 'Leverage'
Drama picked up for second season
By DANIEL FRANKEL

TNT has given a second-season renewal to "Leverage."

Turner has ordered another 15 episodes of the caper drama, which stars Timothy Hutton as the leader of a band of expert thieves who use their skills in a Robin Hood-like manner against criminals and corrupt business interests. Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf and Aldis Hodge co-star.

"Leverage" is produced by Dean Devlin's Electric Entertainment, with John Rogers and Chris Downey also serving as exec producers.

The series commitment is among TNT's latest moves to ramp up its original programming slate. The network recently greenlit three series: medical drama "Time Heals," starring Jada Pinkett Smith; the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced cop thriller "The Line," starring Dylan McDermott; and "Men of a Certain Age," starring Ray Romano.

The "Leverage" pilot bowed Dec. 7 to 5.6 million total viewers, running behind the latest installment of TNT's "The Librarian" movie franchise. Both projects were helmed and exec produced by Devlin. Since then, "Leverage" has been the top-rated basic cable performer for its Tuesday 10 p.m. timeslot among total viewers, households and adults 25-54.

TNT execs are also closely monitoring the performance of rookie skein "Trust Me," which bowed to 3.4 million viewers Jan. 26 leading out of a fresh episode of the network's hit crime procedural "The Closer."

That made me all goosebumpy and teary eyed!!

I can't imagine a profession that has such ups and downs...God bless 'em all.

Hannity had Whoopi Goldburg on his show and he said that she is so established that she'd always have work, and she even said it's nice to know that you can do a movie, then you wait awhile for it to come out, then you wait for the next work, but having a REGULAR gig that is there for you is so cool. I can see that. There is much to be said for security.

I'm go glad they are getting more time for us to enjoy. First time in a long time that my husband and I have really LOVED the same show. You gotta understand, that I can only get comfortable (with this stupid neck brace) when I'm propped in bed with the reclining pillow, and NO jiggling, on a TWIN sized bed, yet my sweet hubby had gladly squeezed in first, sat as still has he could so I could come in next to him so we could watch the eps either on ON Demain on the littlle tv or the ones that they've already taken down that we've had to find online and watch on the laptop balanced on a pillow between us.

This show is awesome!!

It reminds me so much of a Joss show. The characters are very rich and fleshed out, with the first ep I saw (the one with Mark in it, about the horses) I 'got' it. And I gotta say, it has a very Firefly/Serenity feel to it....we've got the damaged Capt., the muscle, the tomboy, the chamleon woman, the geeky wizard....I think that the driving 'soul' of the group is the fact that they all do know their 'captains' past, and the little boy is what sort of holds them together. there is HONOR amongst theives. The pay off is these are robin-hoodish types who actually feel the real pay off when the bad guys 'get theirs'. LOVE IT!!!

But there'll be a second season :)

Loved tonight's episode.  Sophie was hilarious, Parker was genius, Hardison was adorable, and Elliot was, as always, hot and a little dorky ('Which one of you did she kiss?')

And the little love quadrangle with Sophi/Nathan/Maggie/Elliot was cute, too.

But man, I wanted to smack Badger ;)

Okay, so I'm FINALLY catching up on Leverage (thank you TNT for showing all the eps yesterday!)  They were show two or so a night but for some stupid reason, there was 20 mins of SI Swimsuit crap on that was NOT on the guide so all the eps got cut off!

Anywhoo, I loved that line.  I was watching at 1 am and woke the hubby up laughing!!

I just gotta say it!  "Elliot" is from Kentucky!  Woo-hooo!  Of course, I'm pretty sure there is no Kensington Park in Kentucky.  On the ep guide it says they are in KY, but there was not one line in the ep that I heard that pointed that out!  I wish they'd have used Churchill Downs (Louisville) or Keeneland (Lexington).

Sorry, but I guess you guys will have to bear with me while I catch up on all the eps.  Watched Homecoming, Two-Horse and Miracle last night.  Planning on watching at least 3 more tonight (since Life is the only show I watch on Wednesdays!)

Also, Sax and Phyll, in case you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, Saving Grace starts MONDAY!!   Yipeeee!  Now, if they'd just feed Holly Hunter, I'd probably like it more!

Saving Grace is one I'll wait for the DVD on and yes feed her please. She looks anorexic to me. Take that
hair away and you have one sick looking woman. I really didn't enjoy it that much, it's like watching a train
wreck. I might pass on even the DVD's on this.

It is a little graphic (sex-wise).  Reminds me of Rescue Me or Nip/Tuck on FX.  I still can't seem to keep from watching it, though!  Bailey Chase (Butch) is a HUNK!!

Yes, Butch is cute but her partner isn't and comes across dumb as dirt too. I can't quite get the attraction
there plus why hasn't his wife shot Grace yet and him too or at least dumped him. She looks like a bright

Agree and agree!  Ham's wife was on the first episode of NCIS (Technically, it was an ep of JAG and they never show it as NCIS, but it's where we meet Gibbs and Tony).

Between On Demand and the marathon yesterday I got comepletely caught up on all the eps! I absolutely LOVE this show, even told my Grandma to put the tv on TNT after 'her stories' were over at 3 and just leave it there till bedtime. She actually did!! she liked it too.

and yep, I heard that Saving Grace is starting again. I gotta figure out what it's bound to clash with. I have to watch 'first run' whatever can't be found on On Demand or on their own nets. grrrrrrrrrr....

Tom went to bed early last night, so he got all caught up except for the 2 part finale, so we'll probably want it if he get home early enough today. (with no over time, we actually have time to watch other things before 'prime time' comes around).

Oh, horrible nightmare last night...well...not really...but....fell asleep with the tv on and woke up to Obama's speech. Does he think he's still campaigning? He's still putting down Bush, and making wild "I will not allow it....(change in tone as if corrected by an ear piece ala Leverage)..'WE will not allow it!". He's scary.

Yep, The Messiah has not stopped campaigning.  A town-hall meeting??  Someone please tell him to get on with RUNNING THE COUNTRY!  Sheesh!

Oh, and I am just finishing "The Mile-High Job" and Nate and Hardisson are reminding me of Sheppard and McKay (SGA).  McKay always does his best work when lives depend on it!

Christian Kane is just a DOLL!  Never really thought about it, but he's is looking good...

I am IN LOVE with ALL the characters....they are all so rich and fun and quirky...just love 'em.

And yeah, 'Lindsey' (?)...I thought wasn't cute...at all. So funny how a character can change the 'look' of a person, huh?

Good stuff. Now we gotta wait till Summer for more. But, I have found, like FF, these eps are VERY rewatchable. The quirkiness, little lines over lines...the tones, glances and grins...love it all. FUN!! Yay!! I have a new show to love!

Now I just have to get caught up on "Life"...On Demand is charging a $1 per ep to see it! What the? I'll just have to look for it online.

I agree about loving all the characters.  They really have done a good job of developing all of them as individuals.  They're fun, yet believable.  The chemistry is absolutely fantastic.  It certainly feels more Joss-like than Dollhouse, for that reason alone.  I have a feeling they're developing into an off-camera family as well as an on-camera one.

I loved seeing that video of when they found out they were picked up for another season. Hearing Christian Kane say he'd been 'Prayin' to God' to continue just made me love him even more! lol!

And I agree, it's so Joss-like in so many ways!

I can get them for free online, but Gingi's old computer doesn't support a couple of the sites that show vids...so I"d have to sit in this uncomfortable chair to watch an ep. :(

I've missed two eps so far, and I don't want to get too far behind...we are trying to tighten the belt financially...and I keep thinkin'..'it's just .99 cents....' *sigh*

Now that the Census is not taking anymore tests, I don't know what I'll be doing to earn money with all the limitations I'm going to have (that other disc is a ticking time bomb). Ugh.

I bought the DVD's of this show and I love it but I noticed something tonight
when I was looking at the air dates. They have the shows listed on the DVD
completely out of order of what they showed on TV. I watched the third show
on the 1st disc tonight and looking at the air date it was actually the fifth show.

The 3rd show is at the beginning of the 3rd disc and the 4th show is at the bottom
of the second disc. I know *blub* *blub*. So why would they do this? Did they show
them out of order when they aired them and should I watch them this way or go back
and watch the way they aired them?  Ticks me off I didn't notice this before I watched
the show tonight. I hate watching series out of order and I thought they seemed to have
moved too fast in their settling in to their new offices.

I would watch then in the order on the DVD. I don't think it matters too much.

They settled in quick because basically Nathan's apartment IS the new office. They just invaded.

I love this show and I'm really enjoying Timothy Hutton getting more dressed up and into characters. He really outshines the rest of the cast but I love them all.

I hope they have a show where they let Christian Kane sing. He is sooo good and it
would be fun to see the reactions of his fellow thieves if they don't know about it. I
wish they didn't make these seasons so short on the cable shows. I like to watch
them on DVD and it takes so long for one to come out and then there are only 13-15
shows on them.
