Title: The New Season
Post by: Eric on July 09, 2010, 10:38:24 AM
Not impressed.

I know others are, though. (http://io9.com/5582938/futurama-unleashes-bender-in-all-his-robosexual-glory)

Something is missing. Maybe they shouldn't try to tackle the topical topics of the present day and instead just do stupid gao se like they used to.

To be honest I've spent the past few weeks watching almost nothing that isn't World Cup or dvds .

Last two ep's have been really good. They've been jawdroppers for me. I was totally duped on the ending to "Lethal Inspection," and was impressed by the Professor and Leela in "The Late Philip J. Fry." I can't even type in spoiler the last one is so good. You just have to see it.

obligatory :bender:

PS. "The Late Philip J. Fry" is Groening's fave ep of the season.

Yeah, I have to agree the last episode was very good.

Futurama is hitting D*C this year!  :bender:   Me:  :'(

Phil LaMarr (Hermes) was added about a week ago. Today I check and John DiMaggio, Maurice LaMarche, and Billy West are there!! Billy was there in 2006, but I'm not sure about the others.

<le sigh>

Oh well, I've got a house to paint.

Some of the best episodes are playing tonight:

9:30pm  The Late Philip J. Fry (7/29/10)
10:00pm  That Darn Katz! (new: Earth is invaded by a race of intelligent cats.)
and the tearjerker to break all tearjerkers
10:30pm  Jurassic Bark

We've been somewhat unimpressed with the season, until last week's episode. That one knocked it out of the park. It was not only the best this year, but one of the best ever.

Cannot wait for the cat episode.

I'm hoping the cat episode will pay off. That's a lotta cat.

I've still been lol'ing this season. In-a-Gadda-de-Leela is the only one that really put a bad taste in my mouth.

I look at it as if they are still trying to hit their stride again after being sidelined for so long. The movies were better than nothing, but the show definitely works much, much better as a half-hour story.

I liked the movies. I liked the printed freebies (postcards) and the dvd disks themselves, which were actually all orb objects in the movies.

There were some good things in the movies. For instance, the way the Rubik's cubicles worked in Lethal Inspection (Bender & Hermes were trying to find Inspector #5) reminded me of the high-rise apartments where Fry's girlfriend Colleen lived. I thought that apt. bldg. was a hoot.

OK, there was one joke that made me LOL really loud for at least a minute or two. Of course it was a Bender line. I can haz been reading the Planet Express Employee Lounge board (www.peelified.com (http://www.peelified.com)) to read fan comments and I just found someone who felt like me and quotes Bender (read at your own risk if you haven't seen the episode):
The episode for me was 7/10 - some jokes were funny, one in particular made me gasp & laugh is when Bender said, "Aww, his anus looks like an asterisk."
We went to Walmart today. Walmart's logo looks like yellow sunbeams now. In reference to the the Katz ep, it begs the joke:
Aw, Walmart's logo looks like a cat anus. *
Not starting a new thread for this. Just jumping in.

I felt like having 7-11 tea so I decided to grab a bite there. I chose........the egg salad sandwich.

Since watching "Parasites Lost" does anyone ever think twice before selecting a pre-made egg salad sandwich?

All I kept hearing in my head was, "My ancestors came over here on the sandwich!"

The finale was comedic gemmery. Sad to wait for more new eps, but que sera sera.

Comedy Central will be replaying all the eps this weekend, Saturday AND Sunday, 9pm-12am. I will be taping.

The Devo umbrella. They could totally market that. Somebody on the PEEL (Planet Express Employee Lounge) board already wants one.

I learn so much when I go over there. One of the mutants asked, "Are we not men?" and someone over at PEEL said that was the title of a Devo album.

I'd like to take this time to thank Comedy Central for making reading the title captions such an "enlightening" experience.

Futurama ended on a great note in more ways than one: the last half of the season was much better than the first, they won a Creative Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, and Maurice LaMarche (Lrrr, Orson Welles) won an Emmy for Outstanding Voice Over Performance.
