Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse... but you take a boat in the air that you don't love... she'll shake you off just as sure as the turn of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she ought to fall down... tells you she's hurting before she keels. Makes her a home.  -Mal

According to her IMDB bio, she has a masters in Criminology and is "completely obsessed with the study of Forensic Science". I did not know that.  :PSA:

And I'm thinking you weren't burdened with an overabundance of schooling.

She was married to Coyote Shivers.  Yeah... I could see that.  (He was one of the actors in one of my all-time favorite movies - Empire Records)

Locally there was an 11 year old girl abducted several years ago and murdered. Since she came from a trailer park and was not blond, the national press did not obsess over it for weeks and months. I don't know that it ever made national news. Until the Fox show America's Most Wanted did a story on it last year or the year before. Pauley's dad saw the story, told her about it, and she donated $10,000 to help find the human debris who abducted her.

She's aces in my book.

"Is this how time normally passes? Really slowly, in the right order?"

She and her character have a few things in common, it seems, as Pauley is from N'awlins as well!  (Remember in the ep after Kate was killed "Kill Ari Pt 2", they had her funeral and Abby played the jazz tunes afterwords.)
