That book by that guy about some thrilling stuff happening. y'all should check it out.
doesn't sound like my kind of thing, dude...
Thought I'd see what all the fuss was about and got the Kindle version of the first book in the Twilight series. Young Adult/Teen Romance are not my normal cup of tea (I enjoyed Buffy a lot so...), but after reading the first 1/4 of the book, I am enjoying it. I think it is how well Stephenie Meyer describes Forks, Wa and the wonderful Wa weather. The way she write dialog helps the pages turn too. ;)

Ann always finishes every book she starts, with the exception of two (whose titles escape me). She said that while she is not quitting Twilight, she is relegating it to the "when I have absolutely nothing else to read" stack.
She said it was like Buffy without the Vampire Slayer bit. Angsty teen angst with mopey vampire who is trying not to be the typical vampire in love with the heroine of the story, and badboy vampire who is everything but actually named Spike.

Definitely has a Buffy/Angel feel to it so far. Sadly I had book 4 spoiled for me this morning. Two women on the bus were talking about it. :( It was weird, there were 5 people (including me) reading a Twilight book on the bus this morning. I was the only cool kid with a Kindle though. ;)
Reading Twilight got me on a vampire kick. I am reading Dead Until Dark right now.
Not much of a spoiler, but...
I wonder if Stephanie Meyer "borrowed' the mind reading idea from Charlaine Harris? In Dead Until Dark, Sookie can read minds except for Bill's (the vamp). in Twilight, Edward (the vamp) can read minds except for Bella's. I've only read chapter 1 so far, so I don't know if there are any other similarities.
I watched and loved the HBO series, watch it if you can. I'm going to start the book soon, but the series was excellent.

Sucks about the spoiler on the bus, but kewl that you had your Kindle w/ya!! If I didn't get motion sickness from reading in a car that would be a good idea for me. Especially on the trips to the lake, etc.
Just finished Derrick Robinson's "Piece of Cake" about the RAF during the first year of WWII ( ends with the Blitz on London ) .
Utterly brilliant .
One of the best books I have ever read .
( in fact this was my second go 'round as I'd first read it twenty years ago )
Highly recommended .
I am now reading another DR novel called "Eldorado Network" which is a spy story set in WWII Spain .
Also reading "A Feast for Crows" which is the latest in the Song of Fire and Ice series and am slumming between both with the "Sword of Skelos" , a Conan novel .

I've been reading that off and on. It's good, but I can't read more that a few bits at a time. Luckily it works well that way.
I'm actually listening to the abridged audiobook. I think I'll pick up the book one of these days.
World War Z piqued my interest, too. Must remember to buy that, sometime ...

It is pretty good. Good enough for me to want to actually read, which is something I very rarely do these days.
While at Pearl's parents, I finally had the time to read World War Z.
Zombie stories are more than just tales of monsters. They are about how we might face the unknown; an intruder, a mob, a riot, a war. What happens if a disaster happens and one must find food and protect family? Who hasn't had moments when he's felt surrounded by zombies? At work? In political discussions?
I was actually surprised at how well it was done, and the wide variety of "experiences". The Redecker Plan has probably more truth than we, the Unwashed Masses, probably want to admit. Just ask Al Gore as he jets around the world telling everyone not to jet around the world. Or Michael Moore making loads of cash while telling everyone that cash is evil.
I started reading it a while back an was enjoying it, but stopped (can't remember why). I'm sure I'll start up again.
Right now I am reading the Dexter series. I am about half way through the second book. This one time actually like the TV show better than the books. Not that I don't like the books, I love them, but they are different and something about the way Mr. Hall plays Dexter appeals to me. He was a great piece of casting.

I'll be reading this once Ann is through with it.
ETA: The author acknowledges Michelle Dockery (she of Mal's Song fame), so she just might be a Browncoat as well.
I just finished Derek Robinson's "Damned Good Show " and am now on his "Hullo Russia, Goodbye England"
I'm also digging through Ambrose's "Band of Brothers" and Robinson's "War Story" .
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Robinson_%28novelist%29 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derek_Robinson_%28novelist%29)
Best war novelist I've read so far .
He's brutal and unsentimental .
Sometimes too unsentimental - but then again - who says war is nice ?
And if I may add - both "Show" and "Russia" are signed by the author .
Too me .

It is shiny .
I think that maybe you haven't read any of Mr Robinson's novels , but I recommend his books highly .
Hard to find too .
I'll send you one if you like .
I am reading...
"Letters to a Young Conservative," by Dinesh D'Souza
I am reading "The Coming of the Horseclans" ( the pulp series from #1 and on ) , "The Odessa File" , "Royal Flash" ( of the Flashman chronicles ) and "Band of Brothers" .
And a Conan title of which name eludes me .
Stupid too many books on the go ........
Reading The Walking Dead comics. Whoa! Scary, sad, riveting, intense... I hope the TV show doesn't go a completely different direction.

I can do without some of the comic plots .
It just goes to some painfully grim places .

Indeed...
I just read the one where the little kids get their heads chopped off the the freak in the prison.
Reading The Walking Dead is a damaging my calm. 34 books in and every time I think something good is going to happen, they kick me in the nuts with another horrifying twist. I. Can't. Stop. Reading!
I intend to start reading that once my Christmas present arrives. Until then, I'm listening to Bill Carter's book on the behind the scenes stuff between Leno and Conan. Good stuff.

It's very economical with the good moments .
Then again - APOCALYPSE .

Tru dat.
I am zipping right through them. Just started #61
The TV show such is a different animal and there is no way they could survive on TV had they followed the books and I am glad. It's like Dexter. I get to follow the story in two universes. Wish I could live my life in two universes sometimes.
I love both .
79 Walking Dead books read... I want MORE!

Kell's Legend (Clockwork Vampire Chronicles) & Soul Stealers: The Clockwork Vampire Chronicles, Book 2

A good heroic adventure fantasy series. Looking forward to book three (I have the kindle version on pre-order).

Will probably start Tears in Rain by Rosa Montero tomorrow.

60% though Wool by Hugh Howey.

Finished the Omnibus version of the first five and I am almost done with book 6. Very fun series.
Also just learned that Ridley Scott wants to make a movie out of the series. I hope they go the trilogy route. Trying to stuff all the goodness that Is Wool into one film would suck ass.
Finished the Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin. Loved it and the ending.
Started listening to AlterWorld by D. Rus. very interesting so far. basically a story of a guy who is dying of cancer and looks to get himself (his mind) perma-stuck in a virtual reality MMO to extend his life.
